Chapter 2
Chapter 2
She lifted her head blankly, only to find the two people who had nearly appeared in her lens a short while ago were now right in front of her. The three of them looked at each other.
Gavin Byrd’s brow subtly furrowed, and a hint of regres flashed in his eyes.
He bent down and first helped the bewildered woman up from the ground. Then he nervously scanned her up and down, holding her shoulders.
“Did you get hurt?” he asked, and concern was evident in his gentle tone.
Sirena couldn’t help but turn her head, looking at this person who seemed completely different from the cold figure she had
seen before.
Claire was utterly baffled at this point. What on earth is happening?‘ she thought to herself.
Just then, the security guard arrived. Seeing Claire discovered by the guests, he hurried over and grumbled, “Is this a place you can come? How dare you disturb the guests! Get out of here!” With that, he was about to grab Claire’s arm
But before Claire could evade, someone acted faster than her.
“Back off” His dominant low growl, coupled with his noble and elegant demeanor, made people shiver involuntarily.
The security guard was stunned by Gavin’s shout. He hesitated for a moment and then quickly ran away.
Claire watched as the man raised his hand and coolly removed his sunglasses, revealing a handsome face. His features were well–defined, with a straight nose, and his narrow, chilly eyes seemed to be covered with an invisible layer of ice.
Claire didn’t have the mind to be enchanted by the man’s stunning appearance. She just wanted to pinch herself hard to confirm whether this was a dream or not.
Who can explain to me how staking out turned into catching an affair? she asked herself inwardly
Her gaze couldn’t help but scan back and forth between Sirena and Gavin
If it weren’t for the fact that she personally went to the city hall with this man in front of her to get the marriage license yesterday, she would almost suspect herself as the third party in this golden couple.
Before Claire could snap out of it, Sirena raised her hand and glanced at her luxurious wristwatch with a hint of displeasure. “Let’s go, it’s getting late,” she said.
Gavin’s l*ps tightened as he lifted his hand to caress Claire’s messy hair lovingly. “Be good and stop running around. I’ll be back once I’m done.
Sirena, who had been waiting silently, couldn’t help but touch the goosebumps on her arms. She finally couldn’t bear it and walked toward the nanny van parked not far away.
Gavin didn’t delay any longer. He took one last glance at Claire before following.
Claire remained in place, watching the tall and slender man get into the car and disappear completely from her sight. It seemed like her brain hadn’t started to function again until now.
Although today’s events were unexpected, she didn’t seem to have the grounds to be angry or sad. In the end, from their first meeting at the blind date to getting the marriage license, it seemed like only a day had passed. They were just strangers who hastily tied the knot.
However, as a young woman who had never been in love, facing such a handsome man, she couldn’t help but have some expectations for the marriage,
As a wife, watching her husband come out of the hotel early in the morning with a superstar beauty, Claire couldn’t deny
feeling a sense of disappointment. However, she didn’t have the energy to waste time on this untimely sadness.
Without evidence of Sirena’s secret marriage, how would I pay for my mother’s medical expenses?‘ she wondered.
