Chapter 143 I'm... A Burden?
When Rosa was sleeping soundly in the morning, Henry received a call.
"Okay, I got it!"
After hanging up the phone, Henry did not look happy.
His whole person was shrouded in a layer of gloom.
He got up, washed his face and went back to the bed to give her a kiss before going downstairs.
Aunt Abbie had already bought a lot of ingredients. Cecil also got up early in the morning and bathed in the sun in the garden.
"Sir, why are you up so early?" Aunt Abbie was taken aback. "I'll prepare breakfast for you."
"No need, I have something to do. The chef will come over later. Bring him over the details and prepare a room for him."
"Sir, you... you want the chef to stay here?" Aunt Abbie was a little surprised.
She didn't need to think to know that he was hiring a chef with more than seven Michelin Stars.
If that chef stays here for a while... how much would that cost?
"It's convenient for him to work. Later on, Cecil and Rosa can eat what they want whenever they want." Henry said as he put on his coat.
Aunt Abbie was very touched. "Sir, you are so nice to your wife and her younger brother."
Henry smiled elegantly and said, "They are my family!"
Aunt Abbie nodded and said, "Yes. Don't worry, sir. I will take good care of them!"
"Great!" Henry nodded and walked out.
Cecil was reading in the garden with a cup of hot coffee on the table.
"Cecil, it's cold outside. Don't stay outside for too long!" Seeing this, Henry instructed.
Cecil smiled and said, "Okay, brother-in-law."
"Yes, your nurse will arrive in a while. He will take you to the hospital to get a checkup. Call me if anything happens."
Cecil was a little surprised. He didn't expect that he had arranged all these things.
"Okay!"
Without any further delay, he got in the car and left.
By the time Rosa woke up, it was already nine o'clock.
She looked around but could not find Henry.
Eh...
"Where was he?" She wondered.
She got out of bed, washed up and went downstairs.
Aunt Abbie had already prepared breakfast and Cecil had already finished his work.
A man in his fifties appeared in the kitchen. He was dressed in white and wore a chef's hat.
"Mr. Luke, here, this is Madam." Aunt Abbie said hurriedly.
"Hello, Mrs. Lewis. I'm Luke." The middle-aged man smiled.
Rosa hurriedly said, "Hello, Luke."
Luke was stunned. He didn't expect this madam to be so polite. He immediately felt embarrassed and said, "Um... Madam, if there's anything you like or want to eat you can let me know. I can cook anything!" Rosa was a little embarrassed. "I'm not picky."
"Okay, I'll see what I can do. Don't worry, I'll adjust it according to your taste," Luke said hurriedly.
"Thank you."
Luke chuckled and immediately went into the kitchen.
"Madam, hurry and eat your breakfast. I was afraid of disturbing you in your sleep, otherwise, I would've sent your breakfast upstairs." Aunt Abbie said as she handed her some porridge. Rosa nodded. Indeed, she was hungry.
However, Rosa did not eat much. One bowl of porridge and one egg were enough.
Every time, the amount of food she ate made Aunt Abbie very anxious. She ate too little.
"Aunt Abbie, where is Henry?"
"Sir went out early in the morning and he didn't say what he was going to do. But it seems like he has something to do!" Aunt Abbie said.
Rosa nodded and planned to go to visit Cecil in his room.
"Madam, Cecil has gone to the hospital," Aunt Abbie said in a hurry.
Rosa was stunned. She turned around in shock and asked, "Cecil went to the hospital?"
"Don't worry, Madam. It was Henry who called the doctor over to pick Cecil up. He said it was for his regular checkup. I think Cecil addressed him as his nurse." Aunt Abbie explained. "But his checkup should be tomorrow!"
"It seems like Cecil's appointed doctor had something to do tomorrow, so Cecil went a day earlier"
Rosa nodded, indicating that she understood.
"Madam, I'm going to work now," said Aunt Abbie as she began to clean up.
She was alone in the empty house.
Rosa was really not used to it.
She was going to look for a book in Cecil's room.
But before she could enter, the doorbell rang.
Rosa was stunned. "Who is it?"
Aunt Abbie quickly ran over to open the door. Since this person could pass through the security guards, she must be someone familiar.
When the door opened, Rosa was stunned.
Standing at the door was Asher, a recognisable yet unfamiliar person.
"Mrs. Lewis," Aunt Abbie called out.
"Yes, go ahead. I have something to tell Rosa!"
Aunt Abbie glanced at her and chuckled as she said, "Okay. Please have a seat. I will make some tea."
Seeing her walking toward her step by step, Rosa felt a little restrained and uneasy.
"Let's talk in the garden. The air outside is fresh!"
Rosa bit her lips, nodded, and followed her out.

There was a small private garden, a rattan chair, and a rest area outside the villa.
Both of them sat on a stool. Although the winter sun was very strong, the temperature was not very high.
A few minutes later, Rosa's ears turned red from the cold.
"Rosa, you've been calling me Mrs. Lewis for so many years. Now with the sudden change, are you able to get used to it?" Asher finally asked.
Rosa looked at her and frowned. She didn't know how to answer.
It was not the first time she had been to her house.
It was not the first time seeing her.
Every time, she called her Mrs. Lewis.
Now, her identity had changed. According to customs, she should call her sister.
"You and Miranda are best friends. Now that you've become her aunt, do you think you'll have a good reputation in school if word of this gets out?"
She sighed and continued, "Even if my brother was the one who pursued you, you would still be considered as a mistress with Paige's existence. Even if you and Miranda are genuine friends, this matter will surely affect your relationship. You'll be labelled as someone who seduced your best friend's uncle!"
Rosa's face suddenly turned pale.
What she said did make sense.
"I can see that my brother really likes you, but... you really are not suitable!"
Rosa's hand clenched onto the hem of her clothes.
"You don't belong in the same world. How long can your attraction last? Rosa, let me tell you the truth. Henry had sacrificed so much for the Lewis family. Everyone only saw the best of him, no one knew about his miserable past. When he was overseas, he lived in a basement. He'd been rejected repeatedly to get a contract. His success was not sudden. It was all because of his hard work!"
Asher took a deep breath and said uncomfortably, "You know that the Lewis Mansion is very powerful in City C. You can't ignore the existence of the Baker family either. Once the two families start a war because of you, no matter what, Lewis family will suffer!"
Rosa bit her lip and was silent. Her whole body was slightly trembling.
"With our current status, we're being watched by the public every second. Once Lewis family runs into a problem, those hungry wolves would see this as an opportunity to attack us. Rosa, the woman he marries doesn't have to be someone capable, but it shouldn't be someone who will become a burden to him. Don't you think so?"
Her words were reasonable.
It wasn't like Mrs. Lewis' harsh words.
But it was more hurtful than those sarcastic words.
"Am I... a burden?" She finally opened her mouth slowly, but her voice was a little held back.
Seeing this, Asher's heart couldn't help but soften.
She cared about her.
Her parents were dead, and she took care of her brother until this day with the help of her scholarship.
She was a worthy role model to Miranda.
However, she had no choice but to be harsh on her for the sake of Lewis family.
"Rosa... Do you know that he contacted countless reporters yesterday for you? He wants to hold a press conference to announce your marriage!"
Rosa was stunned and looked up at her in shock.
He was going to announce his marriage with her?
"The Baker family is waiting for him to turn back. Paige is also waiting for him to turn back. Once he announces this marriage, the two families will be completely over. Then, you'll see him working overnight every day, busy settling with the Baker family. By that time, you wouldn't even be able to see him!"
Rosa was getting more and more upset. She felt a little pain from clenching herself.
Asher sighed softly as she looked at her and pleaded, "I beg you. You should leave him. It is not easy for him to get to his current status. I'm his sister. I feel bad for him. I really feel bad for him..."
Rosa's eyes teared up at once.
"Will he be happy... after I leave?"
"Historically, how many couples from well-matched families have been happy? He's a prince and you're a pauper!"
Rosa bit her lips hard and a drop of tear rolled down her cheeks.
She's a pauper?
He's a prince?
"Madam, Mrs. Lewis." Aunt Abbie walked out with a warm smile.
Rosa quickly wiped away her tears.
"Mrs. Lewis, warm tea." Then, she handed a cup of warm milk and covered Rosa with a blanket. "Madam, you're pregnant. You can't catch a cold!"
With that, she smiled and left.
Asher's eyes were full of disbelief. She frowned and looked at her. "You're... pregnant?"
Rosa nodded silently.
Asher seemed to find it hard to accept.
How could she be pregnant so soon?
"Rosa..." After a long silence, she called her.
Rosa looked over.
Her heart immediately froze after this glance.
It was because her eyes were filled with coldness, contempt and disgust.
"I always thought that you were different from those girls who wanted to climb up the social ladder. But I didn't expect that you... got pregnant to tie him down... You're only 20 years old! Don't you need to go to
college?"
Asher obviously found it hard to accept.
"Ha, that's right. Why would you need to go to college after marrying my brother?"
She sneered, laughing at her own foolish thought.
She thought she was a good child.
There was no poor girl who wouldn't want to climb the social ladder in this world.
It turned out that the good student in Redwood Academy never fooled around with any of the rich boys...
It wasn't because she was different from the other poor girls. It was because her target was someone even more powerful!
She didn't know that her smile made Rosa froze all over.
Asher took a deep breath. Her gaze was no longer gentle, and her voice became cold.
"Ten million dollars. Leave him and get rid of the child!"
