"I don't want to do this, man. We answer two questions, and then we're out of here." I

mumbled to Josh as we walked into the studio. Our team manager reached out to us about this, and even though we've declined every single fucking interview request, we owe the team this one considering they gave us one massive settlement. Even if we stop playing fo Laura are set up for life. Not that we would; I need to get back onto that field ASAP, and so does Josh. I have a few frustrations and need to work them out of my system.

Josh was walking hunched over next to me, yawning. "I'm not sleeping, man. I keep waking up. It's eating away at me. I need to get

cleared by physio so I can start running again. My body isn't tired enough to stay asleep." Josh muttered, but I knew he was lying. Jess told me about his nightmares, but if he didn't bring it up, I wouldn't.

We walked into the overly air-conditioned building, and a young brunette with a headset squealed, "O-M-G! They are here!" Her shrill voice drove a hole right into my brain.

"Luke? Josh?" the assistant's voice faded into the background as we both locked onto her.

Sarah looked different, her smile lit up the room, but the way it met our eyes made it clear she was just as anxious as we were.

"Hey!" She waved enthusiastically, her voice breaking the spell and snapping us out of our daze. "Glad you guys could make it! I was so afraid it would just be me!"

"Uh, yeah," I muttered, trying to pull myself together. Josh cleared his throat beside me, visibly shaken.

The assistant continued her unwelcome monologue about the show's flow, oblivious to our moment. As she gestured toward the cameras, my focus remained locked on Sarah, who almost bounced on the sofa with enthusiasm. She looked beautiful and strong, a stark cont "Just look at the cameras when you speak," the assistant chirped, oblivious to the electric tension in the air. "And remember, keep it light! The audience wants to feel connected with you guys!"

"It's not our first interview," I replied automatically. Josh grunted, shooting me a sideways glance as we moved to sit down on either side of Sarah.

"Alright, everyone! We're going live in 3... 2... 1!"
