Chapter Billionaire My Husband 132
PART 2 CHAPTER 132 LUKE
The bass thrummed beneath my feet, making the glass in my hand vibrate with every beat. The VIP section Jocelyn had somehow hooked us up with was perched above the dance floor, giving a perfect view of the crowd below. Neon
lights cut. through the fog, casting bodies in fleeting shades of blue, pink, and green. I leaned back into the booth, trying to shake the unease, tightening my chest. The place reeked of sweat, alcohol, and something else-maybe lust.
I glanced across the table, and there she was: Jess. That tiny black dress hugged her like a second skin, highlighting every curve, every inch of her toned legs that seemed to stretch for days. The same legs I knew had been running track, probably pushing herself harder th Fuck, I'm an asshole.
She looked stunning, sure, but a small, primal part of me didn't like how many eyes were on her. It wasn't just jealousy, it
was... protective, possessive. Every guy in this place had probably taken a look at her, and my blood boiled at the thought of anyone else even thinking about touching her.
I leaned over, trying to cut through the heavy pulse of the music. "How's track been? Are you running again? Where it's safe?"
She looked at me, her brows furrowed as if she hadn't caught a

word I'd said. "What?" she mouthed, then pointed to her ears, shaking her head. "Can't hear you!"
Of course.
The music was too loud.
I inwardly groaned, frustrated at the noise. The club was too loud and chaotic, and all I wanted to do was hear her voice, talk to her, and feel her move beneath me. Without thinking, I decided to shut myself up the only way I knew would work. I reached for her, intending to But a solid hand clamped down on my shoulder before I could close the distance. I spun around, ready to tell whoever it was to fuck off when I saw Josh grinning down at me, his eyes glassy.
And standing next to him was Courtney.
Shit.
I stood up, slapping a grin on my face and pulling Josh into a hug, but my voice dropped into a low growl as I leaned in close. "What the fuck is Courtney doing here?"
Josh just shrugged, swaying a little. "She was at the game. Her friend's hot, so I invited them."
Double shit.
Josh was drunk-wasted, actually. His words were slurred, and he looked like he was about two drinks away from passing out. I could see it in his eyes: the loss earlier had hit him hard, and now he was using alcohol to numb it.

I turned just in time to see Courtney sauntering over with that. unmistakable look in her eyes like she was ready to make al move. Her lips parted slightly, and I could already feel the disaster unfolding before it happened. I shot my hand out, stopping her before she could ge "Courtney, no," I said, sounding a lot like an asshole, but I didn't care. "I'm with Jessica. You and me-it's not happening."
She pouted, sticking out her bottom lip in that exaggerated way she always did when she didn't get her way. "Awh, but babe-"
I didn't let her finish. I spun around, already halfway across the room to Jess. I found her in Josh's arms, hugging him. Thank God she didn't see that. My heart was still racing, and I could feel the weight of Courtney's gaze burning into my back, but I ignored it. That was way too close.
"Jess," I said, pulling her to my side as gently as I could manage. "We should head out."
This whole thing was a ticking time bomb. Between Courtney, the booze, and Josh's condition, it was a shit show waiting to happen.
Josh looked up, confused, his eyes glassy, and his grin faltered. "No, man, I just got here! Stay for a little bit, would ya?" His voice slurred, and he stumbled before he could take another step.
I reached out, catching him before he hit the floor.
He just laughed, stumbling around like it was all a fucking joke. "Josh, you're done. I'm taking you home," I said, gripping his arm

to pull him upright.
But he swatted my hand away, looking at me with defiance. "Get off. I'm fine! I just want a night out with my best friend and my sister. That so bad?" He flailed his arms, nearly hitting me in the process, as he stared me down, still swaying on his feet.
I pinned him with a hard stare, trying to convey with a look that this wasn't the time for his bullshit. But then, Josh laughed-this low, bitter laugh that felt like nails on a chalkboard.
"You're just scared I accidentally tell Jess about Courtney..."
The words hit the air like a grenade. I ground my teeth and tried to stop myself from punching him in the face. "You just fucking did..." I muttered.
My body froze for a second, and I stared at Josh like I could force the words back into his mouth.
Fuck.
I could feel Jess stiffen, and without even looking at her, I knew her eyes were locked on me, questioning, hurt, waiting for me to say something. Anything... 80.83%
