Chapter Billionaire My Husband 125
PART 2 - CHAPTER 125
JESS
Luke stood in the doorway, a white towel wrapped snugly around his waist, droplets of water glistening over his bare torso and dark hair hanging in dripping strands around his face. His eyes widened in shock as they landed on me, a look of confusion instantly crossing his Dammit. I wanted to be so mad at him right now, but all I could think was how attractive he was, with steam still rolling off him.
Shit Jess.
Angry.
You are Angry with Luke.
He left me at the airport.
Focus.
"Jess! You are here!" he said, surprised, blinking as if he couldn't comprehend my presence.
My frustration exploded before I even had the chance to think.
"What happened!? Are you kidding me? I've been waiting for about four hours! I ended up getting a cab after Jocelyn called to say the driver would be two hours late!"
His brow furrowed, and he ran a hand through his wet hair,

sending droplets flying. "What? Jess, I don't understand. Jocelyn told me your flight was delayed by five hours. I was leaving in the next ten minutes to pick you up!" Luke said before grabbing my bag. "Please get in here!" He stepped aside, waiting for me to come

I sighed and gave in. I didn't want to do this in the hallway.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I wanted to tell him it was bullshit and that this was not my fault. It was his, but I didn't. have the energy. I was suddenly exhausted and only wanted to crawl into his arms and sleep there for a decade. Maybe when I wake up, I won't be angry anymore.
"Jess, I swear I didn't know! I thought you were stuck at the airport. I was just about to come get you! I thought I could be there when you arrived." Luke repeated, and I just stared at him, tiny puzzle pieces clicking into place. Jocelyn planned this whole thing. She probably wanted to ruin this whole weekend.
I plopped down on his very luxurious couch, which I wasn't going to comment on right now, and dropped my head back. Luke stepped around the couch and dropped to his knees in front of me. His hand snaked up my neck, and he gently lifted my head so he could look at "Jessica. You have to believe me." He pleaded, and I blinked.
"I believe you, "I finally breathed, and Luke let go of the breath he was holding. But I think your manager is the problem. Clearly, Jocelyn messed this up on purpose," I added, and Luke seemed to consider it for a second.

"Maybe she just got it messed up or something," He offered, and I shook my head.
"No. She made sure we would fight this weekend. That was her whole plan, and she almost succeeded," I pressed. Uke stood up suddenly, towering over me and making me feel tiny.
He stepped forward, his gaze locked onto mine, the towel around his waist still dripping water onto the floor. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen! I thought Jocelyn had it all covered. I was caught up at the PR event and didn't even have a chance to think about anything I sat back, my heart pounding, frustration giving way to a new fear. "What if this is how it is now? Me waiting around while you handle your life, and I'm just... what?"
"No! Jess, that's not how I see you. I want this weekend to be about us. Just us. Everything I'm doing now is so that we can be together. This is just us getting used to the new norm. That's all. I promise." He stepped closer again, eyes earnest, but I didn't know if I could let I shook my head, trying to blink away the sting of tears. "I don't know how to believe you when everything feels so messed up right now."
Luke reached out tentatively, brushing a tear off my cheek. "Please. Let me fix this."
I inhaled deeply, my heart racing. I didn't want to feel this way, but the wall I had built felt so much safer than risking another disappointment. Yet, looking at him now, standing there in nothing but a towel with vulnerable eyes, I felt the walls start to chip away. 56.16%

"Fine," I said, my voice quieter. "Just... so you know. I don't like your manager."
Luke chuckled. "Right now, neither do I." Luke grinned down at me, a dimple etched into his cheek. Ugh, that dimple was the worst. I hated it and loved it at the same time.
"I'm waiting..."I finally said, and Luke folded his arms across his chest.
"For what?"
"You to make it up to me..."
