Leon: Chapter 12
“What?” Calderone asked as he went to the front entrance alongside his dad.
Leon never answered his question, as he seemed hell bent on going outside.
They both opened the double doors.
Iceman, Deke and Hawk rode up front of the biker army they had with them and stopped their bikes right at the base of the stone steps. Sam, Deke’s dad was behind them. They all moved very swiftly, barely kicking the stands down on their rides before motioning to their men to spread out.
The other bikers all had weapons, most of them rifles and even rocket launchers strapped to their backs.
Deke, Hawk and Iceman leapt off their bikes and rushed up the steps.
“What is happening?” Calderone looked at Iceman.
Leon’s phone rang before Iceman could speak.
The three MC leaders stared over at Leon’s phone.
“That would be your answer,” Iceman stated.
Leon answered the call. “Who is this?”
He listened and while he did, his expression grew to rage as his face went red. “The fuck you say!” He opened his mouth to say something else then stared down at the phone. “Some fucker telling me that he is going to burn my estate down.”
“He means it,” Hawk spoke.
Calderone turned to look at him then at Deke and Iceman. “What the hell is happening?”
“He’s going to make an aerial hit,” Hawk replied.
“An aerial…” Calderone shook his head.
“Look, we don’t have any time,” Deke interjected. “Do you have somewhere underground to go to here?”
“Yes, but we aren’t going anywhere,” Leon argued.
“Damnit Leon!” Iceman snapped. “We need to protect you and Calderone!”
Leon glared at him. “No one is going to—”
A loud hum cut his words off.
They all looked up.
A helicopter was coming in fast.
“Get the fuck down!” Hawk yelled.
Leon, Calderone and the men all crouched on the steps.
The copter swooped in, then it hovered as a dark projectile shot out of it.
From somewhere, a dark object hurled toward the copter and hit it. The machine swayed back and forth, as it went up in flames and a loud roaring sounded as it spun out of control while smoke billowed out of it profusely.
“Oh, fuck!” Deke shouted.
“Incoming!” Hawk yelled as the men all covered Leon and Calderone on the steps with their own bodies.
A loud rumbling echoed in the air as a metallic tearing sound ripped through, deafening everyone around. Then a loud explosion followed as the ground rumbled and groaned. Smoke loomed out and thickened in the air as windows in the house shattered while the large house made of brick rocked on its very foundations.
There were more booms, and the ground literally bounced beneath the men before it all stopped.
The men covering the Vincintis slowly raised their heads.
“Damn!” Deke stood up.
Leon and Calderone rose up and peered out to the front lawn.
Sam ‘Bones’ Tory stood there along the now soot covered grass and slung a large weapon over his shoulder as he grinned at them, his face layered in black ash smoke. “Fucking right on target!”
Calderone stared at his weapon. A surface to air launcher.
Leon shook his head as he looked concerned then went down the steps quickly and headed around back.
Calderone followed him, as did the other men.
The entire back part of the estate was littered with debris and metal as water shot up from many spots, apparently putting out the fire.
“Damn, there goes the kid’s waterpark,” Iceman commented.
Leon stared at the destruction there in disbelief. “This Jasper. He fucking targeted my house?” He clenched his fists at his sides.
“We don’t know if he was on that copter though,” Hawk interjected. “But yes, he sure did. We were alerted that a copter was rented and my contacts said men with weapons got on it. I knew it was headed here when they dragged a man in that worked for this man on your list. This Jasper. He fessed up after a few hits to the jaw and nuts.”
“FUUUCK!” Leon shouted. “This could have wiped out my whole damn family!”
“Yeah, Dad. I think that was his point in the first damn place,” Calderone commented dryly. He then actually winced as he regretted his words the moment they left his lips.
The men all stood quietly while looking at Leon.
Leon stared at his son then at the other men, as he seemed to calm instantly. “I thank you all for putting your life on the line for us. Dammit, you all could have been blown up.”
“Not while I still, breathe.” Sam walked up to the group while they looked at all the holes, and gutted grass lawn, the water, smoke and metal littered along at least 2 acres of the estate. “I was trained for this very thing.”
“Well, God dammit. I am finally grateful for that!’ Deke exclaimed as he hugged his dad.
“Now, now boy… don’t get all overemotional on me,” Bones grumbled as he patted him on the back, then pushed him off.
Suddenly, a shot rang out.
Blood splattered off Sam’s shoulder and hit Deke in the face.
“The Fuck!” Sam shouted as he went down
Iceman dropped his body down over Leon.
Hawk did the same with Calderone as they both hit the ground.
Gunfire broke out like the Vincinti s estate became an instant war zone in 10.5 seconds.
Bullets zipped everywhere as the men on the back lawn covered their heads.
Deke crawled over to where his dad was lying. “Dad!” he shouted.
“Keep your ass down, son!” Sam shouted and took out his gun to sit up and fire at the fence, his arm bleeding all over his jeans.
Men came from everywhere as the gun battle ensued.
Calderone raised his head to get a look around Hawk’s form.
Men were on their estate fence and falling like leaves as bullets hit them form the biker army moving in on them.
The gunfire slowed then finally stopped.
“God dammit!” Leon shouted.
The men all cautiously looked around to see that only the bikers with their smoking weapons stood on the property.
The gates opened at the front.
The men all swerved their cocked and quickly reloaded weapons at the gate.
“Hey! Stand down!” Hawk shouted. “Stand the fuck down.”
Calderone could see it was John coming in.
John stopped his vehicle then got out of his SUV and stared at the mess. Shaking his head, he looked infuriated as he went to the back door of the vehicle, yanked it open, and grabbed someone, tossing him to the ground.
Leon and Calderone walked over as Hawk and Iceman guarded each side of the older men.
“What is this?” Leon looked at his man John, then down at the person on the ground.
“This…” John kicked the man on the ground in the ribs. “Is our Jasper.”
Leon stepped closer and glared down at him. “This true?”
The man grunted from the kick in his ribs as he spoke through bloody lips. “Yes! I’m Jasper, so what?”
Leon trembled with rage as he swung his gaze up and looked around at the men, the estate, and all the damage. “You ordered this attack?”
Jasper refused to speak.
John steeped close, set his boot onto the man’s face, and pressed down.
“Ahhh, fuuuccckkk!” Jasper yell-mumbled. “S-stop!”
“Answer the man’s question,” John ordered. “Or I smash your brains out with my fucking boot!”
“Ahh, okay. Okay!” Jasper wailed.
John removed his boot.
“Yes, I ordered it!” Jasper sneered. “It’s time for you to let go old man! Time for a new breed to take over. You and your whole rotten family should die!”
Leon stared down at the man. His rage seemed to evaporate. He looked calm, almost serene.
Calderone stared at his dad. He knew his mannerisms weren’t right. Oh, crap.
Leon knelt down to the writhing, frothing at the mouth Jasper. “You know. I should keep you for a while,” he spoke quietly. “Torture you until I know it all.” He reached into his vest. “But I find that I just cannot stand the fact that you are still breathing.” He pulled out his weapon and shot Jasper in the head.
The men standing there all gasped and stepped back.
All except Calderone. He’d known what his dad was about to do. He whispered to himself, “With some people, you can’t show any mercy.”
Leon then stood and looked down at his Italian shoes. “Dammit, he bled all over my favorite pair.”
The men all blinked and some kept gawking.
“Now that’s how you protect your family!”
They all turned to stare a Sam’s shout.
He held his arm as blood seeped through his fingers. “What? Like you all wouldn’t have done the same damn thing?”
They all stood quietly as some gave nods to his question.
“Get a doctor,” Leon shouted. “Get Bones here some aid and check for others who might be wounded.” He then stalked off toward the house.
“Dad!” Calderone yelled at his receding back.
“What son?” he called back over his shoulder.
“Where are you going?” Calderone took quick steps to keep up with him.
“To hug my soon to be wife and kiss my daughter on the cheek.” Leon went up the ash and glass covered steps and into the house.
