Chapter The Senior Partners
The Wild Rose came in to land at Disceath, in the Crystech Spire. The hum of the engines faded as the ship touched down. In the landing bay awaited both General Summers and Chrys Iryn. Along with a few guards.
The hold doors hissed open as Roisin, Ashe and Rychard left the ship. Upon seeing Rychard, Chrys backed away in shock, Rychard chuckled.
"You look like you've seen a ghost, Chrys" He teased.
"Well, we kind of did assume you had died..." Chrys shrugged, he put his hand in the air and the guards aimed at Rychard. "I'm afraid you are a wanted criminal, please go quietly" Chrys smiled.
"Now hold on a second!" Roisin interrupted. "What is he wanted for?" She asked.
"The destruction of Raryst, and possibly the kidnap of yourself, Ms. Luna" Chrys stated.
"Rychard didn't kidnap me, his mother did, she was responsible for what happened" Roisin replied. Rychard sighed.
"No, Chrys is right, I did play my part in what happened" Rychard bowed his head and held up his hands.
"You're gonna give up, again?" Roisin growled. Rychard looked at Roisin and frowned.
"I'm sorry Roisin..." Rychard sighed.
"The Senior Partners will be very pleased about this development" A female voice echoed across the landing bay. "Stand down, soldiers" Myra shouted as she commanded the guards to lower their weapons.
"Who is this?" Ashe asked General Summers.
"She's hard to explain" General Summers sighed. Myra grinned and walked over to Roisin.
"So, you're the infamous Roisin Luna" She chuckled.
"Uh, yeah, and who are you?" Roisin asked.
"I am Myra, a liaison to the Senior Partners" Myra replied. As she leant in closer to look into Roisin's eyes. Roisin backed away.
"Who are the Senior Partners?" Rychard asked.
"They are the new owners of Crystech" Myra said, as she pointed up to a huge banner on the side of the landing bay. It read 'Crystech Technologies, subsidiary of the senior partners' and the tag line read 'Power Through Technology'.
"Power Through Technology?" Rychard said as he raised his eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?" He asked.
"It means what it says on the tin" Myra shrugged.
"Is that really the best policy to go with after... everything?" Rychard asked.
"I don't need tips from a mummy's boy" Myra smirked as she walked over toward Chrys.
"What do the Senior Partners want to do with Rychard?" Chrys asked,
"Reinstate him" Myra replied.
"Huh?!" Chrys shouted.
"You heard me, do it" She commanded. "Or face the consequences" She added. Chrys nodded and sighed, he approached Rychard.
"Come with me, we'll make it official" Chrys said, sounding miserable.
Chrys and Rychard left the landing bay and headed to an elevator.
"Why did you come back?" Chrys asked as they stepped into the elevator.
"Crystech is mine" Rychard replied. "I'm here to return it to how it was" He added, as he pressed the button for the top floor. The lift began moving.
"If I was you I would run" Chrys sighed.
"Why would I run? I have to fix my mess" Rychard asked. Chrys frowned and pressed the stop button on the elevator panel, the lift came to a sudden stop.
"The Senior Partners" Chrys whispered.
"Who are they?" Rychard asked, getting madder.
"I don't know, but I do know that they are..." Chrys began. "Look, just run" Chrys frowned.
"And leave you in charge? I don't think so" Rychard smirked. "I know your game" He chuckled.
"I'm being serious, Rychard" Chrys sighed.
"Yeah, sure, and I was born yesterday" Rychard replied as he pushed the stop button again, and the elevator resumed its ascent.
"Don't say I didn't try to warn you" Chrys shrugged. "You should have stayed away" He added, as the doors slide open to the CEO's office.
The two exited the lift, and the legal papers were already set out on the dark wood desk by the window, with two pens prepared. Chrys gulped.
"Well, lets do this" Rychard shrugged, he and Chrys walked over to the desk and picked up the pens. Rychard looked at the paper, but it was blank. He looked over to Chrys. "I think they've given us the wrong paper work" He shrugged.
Chrys looked at Rychard and shook his head. Chrys took the pen into his hand and held it firmly, he then place his hand onto the paper, and gulped. He then plunged the pen into his hand and yelled in pain.
"What the fu..." Rychard shouted as he backed away.
"Your turn now, Pyre" Chrys said as he held his hand in pain.
"What?" Rychard asked.
"I told you that you should have run, too late to back out now" Chrys sighed.
Rychard looked down at the paper, he placed his hand onto the paper and took a deep breath.
"Surely there is another way..." Rychard said as his hands trembled.
"There is" Chrys sighed. Chrys took his pen into his hand and plunged it through the back of Rychard's hand. Rychard yelled in pain and went to attack Chrys.
"What the hell did you do that for?" Rychard bellowed.
"Look at your hand" Chrys shrugged. Rychard looked at his hand that he had just been stabbed in, and there was now wound, and no blood.
"Have fun" Chrys shrugged as he headed over to the elevator.
"What did I just get myself into..." Rychard sighed, he walked over to the windows and looked out across the white snowy plains of Disceath.
