Chapter 39
“If they have the guts…” Kaylee started again.
“Auntie, don’t rush. If this isn’t resolved by tomorrow, you can go then. Besides, aren’t we supposed to visit the Jenkins mansion for Old Master Albert’s birthday celebration?” Howard responded.
“Daddy, I don’t want to go to Great-grandpa Albert’s house. I don’t want to go…” Riley, leaning against Howard’s shoulder, vigorously shook her head, tears swirling in her eyes.
“Riley, I promise no one will dare to bully you this time.” Howard gently patted Riley’s back.
ant to go! I really don’t want to go!” Riley choked up.
De good!” Seeing her daughter’s distress, Talia felt a pang of heartache. She took Riley from Howard’s arms and reassured her, This time, we’ll both go with you, and no one will bully you again.”
“Riley, they said you didn’t have a dad. This time, take Daddy with you and show them. Tell them your dad is back, and they shouldn’t talk about you like that again,” Yuffie chimed in.
“Okay…” Riley stopped crying. “I’ll tell them I have a dad, and he’s a hero!”
“Good girl!” Yuffie smiled.
Kaylee opened her mouth as if to say something but ultimately remained silent.
At noon, the six of them arrived at a restaurant in the center of Mendorra, where Albert’s birthday party was being held. Once in the designated private room, they saw three tables already occupied by many people, and Albert was sitting at the main table.
“Wow, Uncle Holden, you’re here! I thought you might not have the money for the fare, so you wouldn’t attend Grandpa Albert’s birthday party this year.
A heavily made up woman with a strange tone said from the main table. She was of a similar age to Talia, with decent features and a curvy figure, and her face was caked with makeup. The woman was none other than Tasha! Seated next to her was a gentleman in his late twenties, adorned with designer labels, slicked-back hair, and a smug expression.
Tasha glanced at Howard, who stood at the back holding Riley, and asked, “Who is he?” After a brief pause, she turned to Talia and sneered. “Talia, this wouldn’t be your new poor fling, would it? You’re seriously going downhill in life. Look at the person you’ve found!”

our mouth!” Talia retorted angrily.
“Oh, so you’ve found yourself an unsuccessful man and you’re afraid of what people will say?” Tasha scoffed.
“You’re not allowed to talk about Daddy like that! Daddy is a hero!” Riley shouted angrily.
“Bastard child, shut up! You don’t even know who your real dad is.
Stop calling any random guy your dad!” Tasha scolded loudly.
Riley burst into tears. “You’re a bad person! I won’t talk to you
anymore…”
“What a useless bastard child!” Tasha scoffed.
“Say that one more time?” With Riley in his arms, Howard walked up
to her, his gaze icy as he stared at Tasha.

“What are you going to do?” Sensing the cold aura emanating from Howard, Tasha could not help but shiver. Despite that, she continued, “I’m talking about this little bastard child! What’s it to you? You…”
A resounding slap echoed in the room.
