Chapter 37 Make Way
Atlas looked at Gavin lightly. He knew Gavin was a professional swimmer. He had already figured out his intention when Gavin chose to come to the swimming pool.
In his previous life, Atlas once came to the swimming pool with Gavin. He drank a lot of water in the pool and was teased by Gavin.
"A professional swimming athlete? But, you're just a mortal after all!" Atlas no longer cared about him in this life.
Seeing that Atlas did not speak, Joseph began to provoke him. He said with disdain, "Atlas, don't tell me you dare not compete? Don't worry, we won't gamble this time. We'll just have fun." Atlas said expressionlessly, "Tell me, how do you want to compete?"
Hearing that, Gavin and Joseph were both delighted.
Gavin pointed to a track in the swimming pool and said, "Two laps. Whoever swims the fastest is the winner!"
"All right." Atlas agreed without hesitation.
Evelyn was a little worried and wanted to remind Atlas, but she was embarrassed in front of Joseph and the others.
"Gavin, you are a professional swimmer. Aren't you clearly taking advantage of others?" Evelyn pretended to be a little displeased.
Gavin smiled awkwardly. He was not prepared for Evelyn's sudden defense for Atlas. For a moment, he didn't know how to respond.
Shelly quickly pulled Evelyn aside and winked at her. "Evelyn, why are you speaking up for Atlas?"
Evelyn just wanted to remind Atlas. Since she had achieved her goal, she did not say anything more.
But for the sake of playing out the part, Evelyn still pretended to be upset and said coldly, "I'm not speaking up for anyone, but I just dislike this behavior."
Joseph chuckled. "Evelyn, don't worry. Gavin is not taking advantage of anyone. You also heard it when we asked for Atlas' opinion just now. It was Atlas himself who agreed to compete with Gavin. It's a consensual competition. "
Atlas cast a gentle glance at Evelyn. He of course understood Evelyn's intentions.
He turned to Gavin and said impatiently, "Let's start!"
They would never give up until they were beaten up.
Viviana looked at Atlas coldly, feeling annoyed. She felt so uncomfortable and annoyed no matter what Atlas did.
Besides, the fact that he'd rather destroy the blood jade than commend it to her deeply hurt her self-esteem.
She couldn't help holding grudges especially when she was humiliated by a worthless wimp.
"Are you sure you're good at all the sports? You know that Gavin is a professional swimmer, but you still agree to compete with him. You're so stupid! I'll wait to see how you embarrass yourself later!" Seeing that Atlas was a bit eager to start the competition, Gavin naturally would not refuse. "Okay, let's choose a track in the swimming pool!"
He looked at the tracks and found that there were many people.
However, the track on the far left was very quiet. Only a bald middle-aged man was resting on the guardrail.
That's the one he wanted!
Gavin walked over and said to the bald man, "Sir, you've occupied a whole track by yourself! Go over there for a while, alright? We need to use this track for a competition." Gavin's words were a little rude and impetuous, which made people uncomfortable.
The bald man did not open his narrowed eyes.
From the resting area behind him, a young man with only one eye suddenly rushed over and stood in front of Gavin.
The young man moved so fast that Gavin was shocked.
"What are you doing?" Gavin stepped back, looking at the young man angrily.
Atlas had a look at the young man lightly. He could feel that the young man's physical strength was far beyond that of ordinary people though he had only one eye.
Joseph and the others also came over and hurriedly asked," Gavin, what's the matter?"
Gavin glared at the young man and said casually, "Nothing, I was shocked by a one-eyed man!"
The face of the one-eyed young man turned cold. He stepped forward and grabbed Gavin's neck. His voice was so cold that it made people tremble. "What did you say, brat!"
Gavin couldn't breathe because of his grip. No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't break free at all. After a while, his face turned green.
"Let him go!" Joseph and the others exclaimed.
At this time, the bald man leaning against the guardrail in the swimming pool suddenly said lazily, "Ford, calm down!"
The one-eyed young man immediately let go of Gavin and bowed his head respectfully. "Yes, sir!"
Gavin bent over and gasped. It took him a while to recover.
"Bastard, you almost strangled me to death! No one has ever dared to hurt me in Lanceham! You're courting death?" Gavin scolded angrily.
The one-eyed young man stared coldly at Gavin, who was so scared and hurriedly retreated.
The bald man finally opened his eyes and came up from the swimming pool. He took the bath towel handed over by the young man and wiped the water off his body. Looking at Gavin teasingly, he said in a flat tone,
"Really? In Lanceham, no one has ever dared to drive me away from somewhere!"
He threw the white bath towel onto the chair. The smile on his face disappeared, and his voice was a little cold. "You are the first!"
At this moment, Gavin began to look into the bald man carefully. He looked ordinary. Nothing special could be found on him when he was in the water just now.
But now, after he came up from the water, everyone could see clearly that he exuded absolute dominance. Any random move he made showed unquestionable authority.
Even toffs like Gavin, could also see the man extraordinary.
Gavin was a little timid, and his anger subsided a lot. He looked at the bald man suspiciously and asked, "Who are you? How dare you boast like this?"
The bald man asked with a playful smile, "Then who are you? How dare you boast?"
Gavin sneered and said proudly, "Listen carefully. My father is Harlan Peterson, and Harlan Media is owned by my family!"
Although Gavin's family was not as rich as Joseph's, they controlled the top media channels of Lanceham. Even those rich people with billions of dollars had to give face to his father. "Harlan Media!" The bald man said in surprise.
Seeing that the bald man had heard of the company of his family, Gavin looked very proud.
Shelly also felt proud from her association with Gavin. She sneered and said arrogantly, "Harlan Media is the top media company in Lanceham. It has huge influence on the public opinion in Lanceham. You offended the son of its boss today. What do you think you should do?"
A trace of contempt flashed across the one-eyed young man's face. He looked at Gavin and Shelly as if they were two clowns.
The bald man looked at Evelyn and Viviana beside Shelly, and then pretended to be pondering. "Yes, what should I do?"
"How about this, I'll let Harlan Media disappear from Lanceham within three days. Is that okay?"
His tone was very calm, as if he was joking, but everyone seemed to believe he would actually do it.
Gavin's expression changed, and Shelly was shocked. Joseph also looked at the bald man in surprise. Even Tobias was dumbfounded. He didn't understand why the bald man suddenly talked hot air. Harlan Media was a top media company in Lanceham. With a strong background, how could it disappear within three days?
Gavin snorted, "Seriously? You think you're Beckett Jackman? What makes you believe you can have Harlan Media disappear?"
Behind him, Joseph also laughed sarcastically. "Haha, what's wrong with today? Wherever we go, we meet a bragger!"
He glanced at Atlas, who was silent aside. Joseph was obviously taunting him.
Atlas remained calm, but he secretly sneered in his heart. If he guessed it correctly, Tobias' gang met a big shot in their previous lives that they could not afford to offend. That must be this man. The young man behind the bald guy suddenly said coldly, "You fucking blind? The one standing in front of you is Mr. Jackman!"☐☐☐☐
