Chapter 23
Person(s): Lord Pascal Pessalis
Lady Reina suddenly burst into the main living room of the Pessalis villa where all four of her children were. Pascal and Anne were on a sofa watching TV, Vira was at the desk in the room, reading a book with several other books stacked on top the table. Merith was asleep on the same sofa Pascal and Anne sat on. The hour was 17:17 in the evening.
“Welcome, mother,” said Anne, as she was the first to notice their mother’s entrance into the room. “Welcome, mother,” Pascal said, looking at his mother also. “Welcome, mother,” Vira said, shooting to her feet and running around the side of her desk. She got to her mother. “Has word come from any planet of these strange alien invaders from outside our solar system?” she asked. “Welcome, mother,” came Merith’s drowsy voice; she was just waking up and still rubbing her eyes.
“I just returned from that new space vessel terminal in the western region of the city,” Lady Reina said. “The alien race, or mantis men, as everyone is calling them now, are taking all the other worlds, but they say a strange magical field protects Guurjey from the invaders.” “Firstly, the new space terminal in the western region of the city as you called it mother is actually named Guryin terminal,” Vira said, breaking into her mother’s speech, “and this wall protecting our planet from the invasion just appeared a about a weak ago. No one knows its origin, but-” “We have heard enough of your intelligent rants, Vira, now let mother talk,” Merith said, cutting her sister off. “Oh do not mind your sister, Vira,” Lady Reina told her second daughter. “We all admire you intelligence, but you should learn not to cut me off when I am speaking. You may do it to any other person, but never your mother. Am I understood?” “Yes, mother,” Vira replied, giving Merith a stern look.
“Now as i was saying,” Lady Reina continued. “Refugees are pouring in from all other worlds and since I am so charitable, I saw some wealthy people taking in some of the refugees and decided to do the same. I found three ladies who sold me a very large and expensive space vessel with a proceron engine for a fair sum. They say they have enough money to settle down here in Amneh, but need a place to stay while they make investments and find a good house in the Queendom, thus I took them in.”
As Lady Reina was speaking, a female servant led three ladies into the living room. One of the ladies had red skin and white eyes, while the other two were humans. “By the gods!” Vira exclaimed with joy, moving closer to the red-skinned lady. “You are a fairy,” she said. “That I am the red lady replied, holding out her tight hand. “My name is Tenna, this is my sister, Meliss and our brother’s lover, Amisha.” “Oh, we are going to be such great friends, Tenna,” Vira said, shaking the fairy’s hand with both her own. “You will help me with my studies into the very fabrics of everything,” she added. “I would be honoured,” Tenna said with a smile.
“The ladies will be staying in our house, while I help them invest their money and get their own house,” Lady Reina stated. She turned to Meliss and her people now. “You ladies are welcome to our home. These are my children and you all will get to know each other better as time goes on.” “Welcome, ladies,” Merith said, getting to her feet and coming towards the guests now. I am really glad to finally have people my own age in the house,” Anne spoke, “but how is a fairy a sister to a human and where is your brother?” “That is a very long story,” Meliss replied. “All I can say is that he still lives,” Tenna said, her eyes glowing white now.
