Chapter 7
Kieran swore under his breath for the fifth time since arriving in his office. He kissed Kenneth. His mind was in debate with his wolf and a pounding headache was starting to surface. He pinched the bridge of his nose and dropped down onto the sofa in exhaustion.
The door opened and Xavier came in. His eyes found Kieran and he smirked as he walked over to sit on the sofa across from him. Propping his feet up, he crossed his arms over his chest and watched his friend. Kieran looked at Xavier from underneath his eyelashes.
“What?” Kieran growled with irritation.
“You have been snappy lately. I swear something crawled up your a$$.” Xavier pointed out.
“Just leave me alone.” Kieran groaned.
“I think I know.” Xavier spoke up and Kieran removed his hand from his face to really look at his friend. Xavier straightened up and leaned forward.
“Kenneth is your mate.” Xavier continued. Kieran’s expression only confirmed Xavier’s observation. He chuckled and leaned back in his seat again.
“Don’t you say a single word.” Kieran growled.
Xavier zipped his lips in mockery with his fingers to indicate he wasn’t going to say anything. Kieran leaned back and thought about what he was going to do. He can’t go around kissing boys. It wasn’t him.
“I just have one thing to ask.”
Kieran snarled and Xavier chuckled again. “Are you going to reject him?”
“I don’t know, man.” Kieran muttered. “I kissed him.”
Xavier’s eyes widened and gleamed in surprise. “Kissed?”
“Yes!” Kieran growled before covering his face with his hand. “The boy - felt like - I don’t know.”
“Spit it out, man!” Xavier encouraged, wanting to know more.
Kieran rolled his eyes and rubbed his forehead. “When I kissed him, he was a girl - no I mean, he felt like a girl. He was soft all over. His lips - god-”
Xavier seemed to be enjoying his friend’s crazy dilemma, because he was chortling now. When he finally stopped, he straightened up from his seat and wiped away his tears.
“You are too blind, my friend.” Xavier said.
“What do you mean?” Kieran growled
“I noticed something you didn’t.”
“What?” Kieran asked confused.
“I’m not going to say anything else, but I want you to try something.” Xavier said.
“What?” Kieran asked again.
“I want you to touch him.”
“I already have.” Kieran growled.
Xavier sighed and stood up. He knew all along that Kenneth was definitely not a boy or a man. He was a girl, but he kept his suspicions to himself. He had watched Kenneth for a while now and the way he talks and even the way he moves were clear indications that he was a girl. He was very good at hiding it, but there were moments Kenneth would forget he was a boy and Xavier would notice the way his hips would sway, or the way his voice raised in pitch.
Kieran was getting impatient with Xavier and stood up to grab his friend by the collar. It was bad enough he was having issues with his mate, but to have Xavier know and tease him about it was where he drew the line.
“Ok, ok!” Xavier laughed. “Observe your mate during dinner. Tell me if you see anything different and I mean really observe him.”
Kieran’s eyebrows crinkled and he frowned before letting his friend go. Xavier straightened his army shirt and tucked it back into his army pants before walking out the door.
Dinner came around and Kieran effectively sat himself where he could see Kenneth very well. He sat with the usual people, Troy and Isaac. Although, Kieran hated it, he also didn’t mind that the men were sitting around his mate. It kept the idiots who liked to pick fights away from his mate.
Kenneth laughed and threw his head back as his hand came up to cover his mouth. Kieran’s eyes narrowed in on Kenneth’s hand. Hands of a woman. Frowning, he watched as Kenneth picked up his fork and began eating. His eyelashes fanning his cheeks as looked down at his food. Long eyelashes - too long for a man. He ate his mashed potatoes and the gravy slipped down his lips. Normally a man would be more uncaring when it comes to eating cleanly, but Kenneth, he ran his tongue over his lips before picking up a napkin and wiping.
This was all very different. Was Kenneth gay to begin with? Is this why he was so accepting of the bond?
Xavier leaned in and whispered. “What have you concluded?”
“He’s gay.” Kieran pointed out.
Xavier was in the middle of drinking his water, but sputtered out like crazy. Water came out from his nose as he laughed in surprise. He did not expect that answer from Kieran.
Kieran glared at him. “Ok, this isn’t going to work.”
“Why don’t you just fvcking tell me?” Kieran growled.
“Where’s the fun in that? Besides, you should figure it out yourself.” He said with a shrug.
“Seek him out tonight. Kiss him, but this time, really touch him.” Xavier suggested. Kieran wasn’t liking how Xavier was prancing around the truth. If he knew something, why won’t he just say it? What was it about his mate that Xavier knew that he didn’t?
Dinner soon came to a finish and as soon as Kieran saw Kenneth slipping out of the hall he followed after him. He followed Kenneth as he passed a small private woodsy area. The sun had set by now and it was dark outside. Kieran stepped on a twig and the sound pierced the air. Kenneth stopped and turned towards the noise. His eyes lit up when he saw Kieran.
“What are you doing out here?” Kenneth asked.
Kieran shrugged. “Patrolling.”
“Is that right?” Kenneth asked and Kieran can see he didn’t believe a word Kieran just said.
He took the last few steps to rid of any space between them. His hand came out and he wrapped it around Kenneth’s waist.
Tiny waist, curvy back.
“What are you-” Kieran crushed his lips onto Kenneth’s, letting go of what he was holding back. Kieran heard Kenneth moan and it was a small breathy soft moan. His mind was conflicted. He dipped his tongue into his mouth and tasted his mate. Sweet and warm. His hands roamed down his back to his butt, where he cupped it. It was nice and round.
Girl.
Woman.
Kieran’s eyebrows crinkled in the middle as he deepened the kiss. Kenneth’s arms wrapped around Kieran’s shoulders, pressing his body closer to him and immediately Kieran felt it.
Breasts.
He tore his lips away from his mate. His eyes narrowing as he scrutinized his mate’s features closely. It was like a veil had been lifted. His mate was a woman.
Anger boiled in his veins.
He was angry because she lied to him. He thought he was going crazy, having feelings for a boy. He was about to give her a piece of his mind, but the moment he opened his mouth, he clamped it shut. A slow smile curved his lips.
She wants to play this game; he can definitely play along with her.
