Kaden's Luna

Chapter TREAT Bonus Chapter!

Luna Reid’s P.O.V.

I mind link Rico to check on Nathan and he confirms that my son is playing with the other children at the pack house. Since Amelia is now six years old Kaden and I are going to finally let Ajax meet her in his full form. However, in order to do so we had to get Nate out of the house since he’s only five.

“Ready?” I’m brought out of my thoughts when Kaden walks onto the patio holding Amelia’s hand.

As it’s Halloween today she’s dressed as Belle in a yellow gown with a tiara to match. She smiles widely when she sees me but frowns when Kaden and I start to guide her to the back of the house. I hush her when she whimpers softly at the sight of the forest. She’s terrified of even walking through it to the pack house because one day she got lost in it for hours and has had nightmares since.

“It’s okay, baby. You’re safe with us.” I murmur as I crouch down to her height.

“I-I thought we were going trick or treating?” She whispers as she cuddles up to me.

“We are but there is something we need to tell you. It’ll be our secret.” Kaden replies which immediately catches her attention.

“Only ours? What about Nathan?” She frowns in confusion but her eyes sparkle with curiosity nonetheless.

“We’ll tell him on his next birthday.” He explains and kneels before her on the grass. “Now, first you must promise me you won’t tell any other children who are younger than you.”

“I promise!” She holds out her pinky and I chuckle over how eager she sounds.

Kaden smiles down at her in adoration before closing his pinky around hers. “Alright, do you remember the stories about wolves?”

“About how some people can turn into wolves?” She asks with her little nose scrunched up.

“Exactly.” He nods before glancing at me unsure. I nod with a comforting smile and he exhales deeply. “Well, I need you to keep a secret for me. And that secret is that your dad can also turn into a wolf.”

Kaden and I hold our breaths as silence ensues. Amelia’s eyes have widened in surprise and it’s like she’s frozen. I don’t know whether to take this as a good sign or a bad one. Kaden looks at me in slight panic and I gesture for him to stay calm while I rub her back.

“Really?” She eventually asks in a small voice but it changes to one of excitement the second Kaden and I nod in confirmation. “Can I see?!”

“Uh…sure. Let me go shift.” Kaden laughs breathlessly as he stands and walks into the forest.

I place Amelia on my lap as we wait for him to undress and shift. Our daughter stares at the forest with an expectant look as her hands clench and un-clench the material of her dress. But then I hear some shuffling and a familiar grey colored wolf walks out from the mass of trees. The iciness of his blue eyes seem to soften when he stares at Amelia who gasps at the sight of him. I can see that he’s hesitant to make any movements in case she becomes frightened but Amelia reacts better than I thought she would.

“No way!” She squeals excitedly before scrambling off my lap and running to the wolf.

My heart races at the thought of something happening to her by accident but thankfully she stops just a few feet away from Ajax. She tilts her head to the side as she stares at him before turning to me with a nervous expression.

“Mom…can you come with me?” She asks which makes me melt.

“Of course, honey.” I smile and walk up to her. I take her hand and step closer to Ajax who waits patiently. “This is Ajax.”

“You have a nice name.” She compliments him but shrieks when he licks her cheek as a thank you.

I chuckle as she bursts into a fit of giggles before standing back and watching them. Ajax can only play with Amelia until she receives a mind link of her own which I think is good since it would be too much for a child to handle having someone talk to them in their mind. I watch as he lies down on the grass and Amelia runs around him while caressing his fur. She ends up counting the places where Ajax has white fur and I can tell that he’s amused.

At some point I help her get up on his back and hold her when Ajax stands to his full height. He turns his big head to face me and I can see the reassuring look in his eyes as he tries to soothe my fear of her falling and hurting herself. I know that Ajax and Kaden would never let her be harmed but as a mother I just can’t help but worry.

“Pup is safe. Nothing will harm her, don’t worry.” He speaks to me through the mind link and I nod before backing away.

“I know. Just remember not to go near the forest.” I reply before taking a seat on the grass again.

“I will make sure pup isn’t afraid of it soon.” He states with confidence as he walks around.

I smile at his willingness to help and Amelia’s excited squealing as she urges him to run. We’ve tried many methods of trying to get her to ease up but because the incident happened quite recently it’s going to take time before that memory of being lost in the dark forest is pushed to the back of her mind.

After some time of Ajax and Amelia bonding I walk up to the pair laying on the grass. Amelia is cuddled up against his fur and explaining why she likes the story of Beauty and the Beast while he nods whenever she looks up at him to see if he’s listening. Her eyes find mine and she frowns sadly when she realizes it’s time to go.

“Come on now, say goodbye. I’m sure everyone will be arriving soon.” I stroke her hair gently as she pouts.

She sighs sadly before standing and wrapping her arms around Ajax’s neck. I smile softly as she presses a kiss to his snout before backing away. He gazes at her in adoration before nudging her clasped hands and licking her palm. She giggles before wiping her hand on her dress.

“Thank you. I love you both so much.” He murmurs gently in our mind link and I smile widely.

“We love you too, Ajax.”

“Why does he go into the forest to turn back?” She frowns thoughtfully as she watches him disappear into the mass of trees.

“Because whenever Ajax has to shift his clothes get ripped so your dad takes them off and leaves them in a safe place for him to change back into.” I explain as I press a soft kiss to her temple.

She nods before turning back to the forest where we can hear bones snapping and cracking back into place. I hug her to me when she shudders in discomfort and it’s not too long before Kaden walks back fully dressed. He smiles warmly at Amelia who immediately jumps into his arms. I guess telling her stories of werewolves really eased her up to the idea of Kaden being able to turn into one.

“Ajax is so cool, dad! Can I meet him again?” She asks excitedly which makes him laugh.

“You can see him whenever you want, princess.” He replies and drapes his arm across my shoulders as we start to make our way back inside the house. “But remember, this is our secret so –”

“We won’t tell Nate until his birthday.” She nods firmly and Kaden kisses her cheek with a smile.

“Good girl! Now, he’s going to be back any minute so grab your bucket and we can leave.” He replies as he sets her down and we watch her bound up the stairs.

“Next year I’m having them both dress up as wolves.” He grins mischievously and I shake my head in amusement.

“Not on my watch!” I snort unladylike as I roll my eyes.

“Luna!” He whines adorably as he follows me to the couch. “Please, it would be so funny!”

Thankfully the back-door slams open and Nathan runs in dressed in his superman costume. Dominic, Gabriel and Jade De Leon follow him in along with Chris and Leah’s daughter Avery. The house is immediately filled with excited chatter and shouting as Amelia comes back downstairs to join them. Axel and Chris walk in with Natalie and Leah following behind and I laugh at their expression. They look ready to just enjoy the night with me and a glass of wine.

Before Kaden and Axel usher the kids outside us moms take some pictures of them. I press a quick kiss to Nathan’s cheek and laugh as he frowns in annoyance as I loosen the knot of his cape. I was quite surprised when he agreed to go trick or treating because he’s an introvert who doesn’t enjoy social situations all that much.

“Have fun!” I exclaim as I wave goodbye and watch them race to Axel’s car.

Chuckling in amusement I turn to see Isla walk in through the back door with a bag of junk food. Natalie’s too tired to get up so she holds her arms out and Isla bends down over the couch to hug her before moving onto Leah. I smile brightly as she hands me the bag of food and we place everything on the coffee table.

“Right, what drinks do you guys want?” I ask as I set two bottles of wine down on the kitchen counter beside the other drinks.

Leah and Isla tell me their preference before we look at Natalie expectantly because she has yet to speak. She worries her bottom lip nervously and can barely contain her smile when she speaks. “I won’t be drinking for the next three months actually.”

“What?!” Leah and I exclaim before she bursts into a fit of laughter. “Are you two planning on having a football team?!”

“Fuck no! I put my foot down at four!” She huffs but narrows her eyes playfully when Isla giggles. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I don’t think you’ll last long with that wish.” She smirks as I hand her a drink.

“Hmm, we’ll see. But more importantly, when are you and Rico starting a family?” She wiggles her brows and we chuckle when Isla blushes as bright as her hair.

“We aren’t in a rush.” She replies with a soft smile and Leah proceeds to tease the hell out of her.

“Alright hush!” I smack her arm lightly as I turn up the volume of the horror movie. “We’re so happy for you Natalie but you’ll be in our prayers.”

She almost chokes on her juice before shoving me with a breathless laugh. I chuckle before draping my arm across her shoulder. And we make the most of our spare time together relaxing and snacking before the children come back. Because I’m sure it’s going to be difficult to put them to bed with all the sweets they’re going to want to devour.

“Holy fucking shit!” Leah screams when a scary creature pops up on screen and her reaction causes us all to laugh.

“Happy Halloween everyone!” Isla shakes her head in amusement as Leah latches on to her from fright.
