Innocent Getaway (Innocence #2)

Innocent Getaway: Chapter 4

The next day…

After over twenty-four hours of flying we are finally in Fiji. I wanted to take Haley away for two weeks, and I wanted to go somewhere beautiful and secluded.

It’s night time by the time we reach the resort, and the porter leads us to our bungalow on the water. The only thing I want right now is to fall into bed with Haley and get some rest. We have no plans for anything other than relaxing and enjoying one another, and I’m ready to start that now.

The porter leaves our bags and I tip him hurriedly, eager to go find Haley.

She’s in the living room, standing over the glass cut-out, trying to see the ocean down below.

“It’s night time princess, the fish are asleep.”

She glares at me playfully and I want to kiss the look of impertinence off her face.

“Come on, baby girl. Let’s try to get some sleep. In the morning I’ll order us breakfast in bed, and you can lie on the floor and watch the fish all day. Deal?”

“Deal.”

I open my arms and she runs to me. I scoop her up and carry her to the bedroom, stripping us both before we climb in.

“Thank you so much, Daddy. I’m so happy to be here with you.”

Her words warm my chest, making me feel bad that I hadn’t done this sooner.

“Me too, little one. This is much needed for the both of us.”
