Chapter Sneak Peek into the Next Book.
Unknown
The Queen of Dreams and Seduction sat in her throne room, fuming. Her blood boiled and her nails dug into the arms of her grotesque throne constructed from the bones and tusks of fallen fae belonging to other kingdoms.
They had taken him; they had taken Heir from her. The boy she had bred and sculped into the perfect warrior with her own two hands and cunning mind. She had never cared much for the boy, never felt an ounce of remorse for his suffering and loneliness. Never, until now.
In the past, she had easily turned her back on him, even bedded males in his presence knowing all too well that he had cared more for her than he should have. She had let him see the pleasure other males brought her as a means of punishment. He needed to be taught a lesson. Learn his place.
He was a pawn in her game, nothing more. And he needed to understand that.
What had changed her mind so suddenly? Why did she find herself missing him so dearly? Time and time again, she found herself thinking of his bright blue eyes and those black bands over his face.
The queen shook her head, trying to rid herself of the thoughts of him.
Right on cue, the doors to her throne room swung open and her illegitimate lover, Boraxis, also known as the Vampire King came strolling in. He was a powerful man, but compared to her immense power and royal blood, he would always be beneath her. A nether fae born from a fallen kingdom.
“Yolanda,” he greeted, and the queen grit her teeth in the way her name rolled off of his tongue. So familiar. Much too familiar.
“Boraxis, I hope you brought me good news?”
“My queen, Pierce Campbell is dead,” he stated a-matter-of-factly.
The queen’s brows rose as she stared at her former lover. “Explain,” she simply said.
“I executed him.”
“Oh? And why on earth would you do that? We needed him to lure his sister in.”
True. Pierce had been promised a place as a royal in her kingdom, should his sister, Catalina, a half-breed vampire-wolf be mated to Boraxis. Pierce was a power-hungry influential vampire with a group of rebel followers behind him, which would have been a good ally to attain.
Boraxis was supposed to wed his sister and produce an heir from her to keep the woman by his side, while they exploited her precious gifts of seeing into the future. A wonderful and unique ability that would have made her kingdom untouchable.
“Catalina had turned her back on Pierce. He would have been useless to us.” Boraxis explained, “the girl had found her mate on their way here and had already been mated to the Alpha by the time I got there.”
The Serpent Queen growled in displeasure, “I need that seer, Boraxis!”
“Yes, My Queen. And I will get her and bring her to us as soon as the dust clears.”
With an exaggerated breath out, the queen stood, pacing irritably as her mind went back to Heir.
“Find her mate, the Alpha. Kill him and bring her to me.” Boraxis nodded and made his way towards her.
“Now!” She ordered and he stopped dead in his tracks. There would be no more stupid displays of affection from her. No more games of seduction.
“And Boraxis…”
“Yes, My Queen?”
She turned, facing him, “find Heir and bring him back to me.”
