Chapter 20.
He went in.
"Kip!" She said happily as she jumped up into his arms.
"Can I go now? I.....I swear I don't know anything, I don't know why they are keeping me here please, I just want to go."
He slowly grabbed her arms and pushed her away from him. "Please Anja, sit down."
She looked at him in disbelief. "Why don't you believe me?"
She started talking to him in their native tongue again however he cut her off.
"In English Anja." He said as they took their seats.
"Why? it's just the two of us." She said.
He glanced over to the mirror on the wall, and we watched as her gaze turned over to it. She was studying it, as if trying to understand what he was implying.
"We are not alone." He said. "Anja." He said to her. Her attention now back on him. "Tell me why you did it."
She sighed. "I dont know what your talking about! You keep asking questions I don't know. Please I'm tired and I've been sitting in here for hours!"
"I can't do that Anja. I'm sorry." He told her.
She had her arms crossed over her chest and looked to the side as tears began to flow down her cheeks again.
"What time is it? Can you at least tell me that my love?" She asked through her sobs.
He looked at his watch. "It's almost 2 a.m"
She was silent for a moment. "You've had me cooped up in here almost 8 hours. Can I at least have something to eat or drink?"
•~ I'm sorry Kipsky but not until we get our answers•~ I told him.
"Not until you give us what we need." He said.
She stood up and slammed her hand on the table. "But I don't know anything! You keep telling me to tell what I know....I know nothing!"
"Anja! I love you...just tell me why you did it."
"This is not what love looks like! I'm hungry, I'm tired and you keep asking the same questions...I don't know....I don't know!"
She threw herself back in the chair and had her head back on the table crying into her arms. "What did I do to deserve this?"
We've been at it for over 2 hours and still nothing. All she's showcased is her annoyance at the whole thing and anger.
Times ticking and we were losing valuable hours. Bogie didn't find anything in Cam's belongings or his work station. The only thing he had was a CB radio in the truck that he worked on but that was was for short range only. Unless she was contacting someone within a 20 to 30 kilometer distance, then it was completely plausible.
"Alright....I said......my turn."
I left June, Raeve, Jay and Rowen in the room and let myself in the room with Kipsky and Anja.
She watched as I walked in silently pulling up a chair to the table. I kept quite and observed her facial expression. Her facade hadn't dropped yet, and if anything she still looked the part.
"What time is it?" She asked again.
Kipsky looked at his watch and read 4:30.
She kept silent. Hers eyes kept glancing to me then the table as if waiting for me to say something.
"Anja." I said. She looked up to me. "We know your the leak, just tell us what we need to know and this can stop."
"I already told them! I don't know nothing! You keep asking me, but there is nothing to tell!" She yelled.
"I don't believe you." I said calmly.
"This is ridiculous! Just read my mind and you can see I have done nothing. Kipsky please, enough is enough I'm not your leak." She insisted.
"We have Cam." I was done playing. It was time to lay it all out.
"What does this mean you have Cam!?"
She was sat up in her chair but her head was hanging down. Her hair was hiding her face as she spoke.
"He's in the next room Anja." We could see her shoulders moving. She was sobbing again. "I've found out all we needed to know from him. I know you approached him at Home base. I know you manipulated him, used him...................fucked him to get what you could from him. What we don't know is why an-"
Suddenly I was cut off as we heard a giggle come from her. Her head popped up as she laughed in our faces.
"Ahahaha that fucking idiot." She said. "I knew the moment he showed up here he would screw everything up."
Kipsky suddenly stood up from his chair and ran out of the room. I sat there staring at her.
Her whole body shifted. I was looking at someone completely different now. She seemed more calm and poised, which was alarming seeing she was an uncrontollable sob earlier.
"Why?" I asked.
Her eyes were piercing mine, as if I were looking down a loaded gun. Even the energy in the room had changed and I was coming face to face with a psychopath.
"Can't you read my mind little girl?" She asked with a smile.
My brows furrowed. "No....I can't." I had to be honest with her. Give her a little control, and maybe she would open up.
"You think keeping me in here will stop what's to come?" She laughed again. "Your all so small minded."
"I do have to commend you. You were the last person I ever would have thought of. The loving wife of one our biggest assets, rescued from the Capital. Free to roam wherever while gathering intel. Quite the feat if you ask me." She was grinning.
"But there was one thought that made you the perfect candidate for such a job." I said.
"And what's that?" She asked.
"I thought you weak...............and that was my blind spot. I mean if you think about it, your practically a nobody." I was trying to push her buttons.
She chuckled. I sighed. She could see right through me, as if she could read my mind. It practically sent shivers down my spine to see how cold she was.
"Why?" I asked again.
"Tell me Sarah........how would you feel, being stripped of everything while being kept for years in camps. Don't you think you would go a little crazy? No?"
"But why work for them?" I asked.
"If it wasn't for your kind, I would have never been put in that predicament."
What?
"That can't be it. Truly Anja, I don't believe you. There's gotta be something else, something they have on you." I told her.
She looked to the wall that held the 2 way mirror. Kipsky was behind there. There was something going through her mind..I just couldn't read it. She quickly turned back to me and her cold stare came back.
"Do you know pain Sarah?" She asked.
I pondered the question. I knew it wasnt as simple as it sounded. There was more of a meaning behind it, but what the meaning was I didn't know.
"Yes." I answered.
"And do you know heart ache?"
I stayed silent. I couldn't answer the question honestly. I knew physical pain, mental pain and heart aches through others, but I haven't experienced heart ache myself. The feeling of something being ripped apart. I watched as her hand rested on her stomach. She looked down as she held it there then quickly removed it, as if it was unintentional.
"What time is it?" She asked.
Why is she so concerned about the damn time?
"Anja." She looked up to me. "What do they know?"
"About home base or about Lingham?" She asked.
Shit! they know about Lingham.
"They know everything.........about Home base. But fortunatley for you, they know nothing yet of Lingham. I have yet to relay that info."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"They needed me to bring them .............a package." She said.
"What changed? Why are you so easily telling me this?" I asked.
"Don't you get it? I'm already dead. The moment I missed my transmission, the plan went into action."
I quickly stood up. "What plan?"
•~ What is she talking about? •~ Jay asked.
"Anja.......what do you mean? are you talking about Home base? in 10 days time."
"Wrong! You had 10 days. As soon as I missed my 5 a.m transmission, you practically gave them the go ahead to move forward."
Shit! Was she stalling us? I looked at my watch and it read 5:20, then I looked over to the two way mirror and ran out of the room that had the others.
"I'm sorry my love." She said from the other side of the mirror. "They forced my hand."
June was already powering up and had a hold of Raeve's hand. Her eyes were a glow and so were Raeve's. They were going to teleport over to home base.
"Take me with you!" I said.
"I don't know if I can." Said Raeve.
I quickly walked up to him and took his hand. "You have too."
I was there best way in telling everyone to flee. I would be able to mind link to everyone in the facility.
He looked to June and nodded. "K, just don't let go."
I looked to Rowen, and before I knew it, we were in the hanger. We had blipped over in the middle of the hanger floor, and we startled a few people that were standing near.
"It's June." I heard some people say.
We looked around and there were only a few people on the floor. No alarms were going off and everything was still intact.
"I don't understand." Said June. "Everything looks like fine."
"Shhh, for a second." I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate. The capital was just over 20 km's from base, so I wasnt sure if I could reach it. I looked over to Raeve and his eyes were still a glow.
"Take me to the top please." He nodded and blipped me up top the mountain.
I was suddenly looking over the mass open valley towards the Capital. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and opened my channels.
Com'on com'on com'on......Raeve was watching me eagerly before he blipped off and came back with June.
"June, he said. Can you transfer your energy to Sarah?"
I quickly took her hand before she could even answer. "Do it." I said.
There was no time to wait, if what Anja said was true every second counted. I suddenly felt a rush of power course through my body, and the frequency in my head opened up 10 fold.
It brought me down to my hands and knees. My eyes were burning, and everything seemed so brighter, but I could hear everything going on beyond The Capital and my senses heightened as well.
Something was coming. The ominous feeling told me so, and we didnt have alot of time to prepare. We needed to get these people out if here before there was no home base left.
I honed in on my frequency and mind linked everyone in the facility.
•~ Everyone, this is Sarah from second base Lingham. Please pay careful attention. We need everyone to remain calm and make there way to the hanger floor. This is not a drill. We must evacuate quickly and discreetly. Again please make your way to the hanger floor.•~
•~ Sarah! Harry's voice jumped in my head. What's going on? •~
•~ They know we're here Harry, something's coming so get Indie and get everyone out to the hanger floor now! •~
I looked over to Raeve. "Take us back down."
We blipped back down to the hanger floor, where everyone started rushing to the centre.
"Raeve." He looked to me. "You know the old football field about a click from Lingham?" I asked.
"Y....yes." He answered.
"I need you to teleport as many people as you can to that location. Can you do that for me?"
He looked at me. "With June's help, I think I can. But only a few at a time. Perhaps 50?"
Raeve! His attention was turned to Bowdie pushing herself through the crowd to get to him.
"What's going on? I'm scared." She said.
He quickly turned to June and took her hand while she powered him back up. His eyes now glowing brighter than before.
"Take my hand Bowdie." He started looking through the crowd. "Bowdie, join hands and tell them to do the same till they reach 50 people."
•~ Everybody listen up! We need to teleport all of you out of here, if your hand is taken yell out your number and take another hand till you reach 50. We can only do 50 people at a time, no more no less. Get going into groups.........now!•~
People were starting to panic, but did what they were told.
I looked over to Raeve who had a chain of 50 people holding hands. We both nodded to eachother.
"Go!"
