Chapter 5
The drive to Cassie’s house was quick. She only lived a block away and the school was a block further. In all honesty, if I had paid attention to her address, I would have noticed that I could have just walked over. Her house was remarkably like mine.
She was waiting outside with an extremely fat orange cat in her arms which made me giggle slightly. I was in a very bleak mood, but I wasn’t going to force it on her. She would probably think that I was insane if I had to tell her why I was in a bad mood if I did tell her.
“Hey. I was worried that you would not come. Tonight is going to be great!”
“I told you that I was going to come. Look, I even brought these god-awful stripper boots.” I replied, walking up to her after parking my car.
She took one look at my boots and basically threw the cat aside, who then hissed and ran out of the driveway, Shit, poor cat, and proceeded to rip them out of my hands.
“Oh my God, Aria, do you have any idea how lucky you are to have these? They cost as much as my car. And just look at them. They’re amazing!” she screamed happily.
Watching the poor cat hissing and running away, I looked back at her.
“Um… I…” I stammered trying to comprehend that someone could get so excited about a pair of shoes.
“Come on, we haven’t got a lot of time if we are going to still have to find exactly what you are going to wear.” She said whilst dragging me through her house to her bedroom.
Hers was downstairs, unlike mine. Pictures of elves lined the walls, and everything had an earthy vibe to it.
“Elves huh...?” I asked while picking up a painting she was not finished with.
The symbols on the elves’ clothing looked familiar, yet I could not seem to remember where from.
“Yeah, I just find them interesting. Always have.” She said in an odd tone whilst digging through her closet, still never looking at me directly. That was strange. Did I do something wrong?
“Here it is. I thought this would look perfect on you.” She turned around and handed me a black mini dress that was strapless and overlaid in black lace. I felt myself blush. Oh, hell no!
“Cassie, this is more like a sexy outfit. How the fuck is this edgy? You can’t expect me to wear this…?” I asked with a nervous giggle and a brow raised. I never wore stuff like this. Hoodies, jeans, and tank tops were my style…
“Nonsense; It will look great on you. And the edgy part comes in when we accessorize it. And if you look like a sex goddess in it, then, it’s entirely better.” Laughing aloud now, I felt my mood brighten.
“Better for whom exactly?”
“We’ll have to see, won’t we?” was all she answered with a mischievous look in her eye.
After much debating over the accessorizing that Cassie wanted and I wanted, we eventually came to a mutual agreement.
“Oh my god, I don’t even look like myself…” looking at myself in the mirror, I barely recognized the person staring back at me.
I would have to give Cassie credit. She did make me look like a goddess. Yeah, that sounded vain, but it was true. I ran a hand over my outfit. I was wearing the black lace dress with my leather high heel boots that came just past my knees along with a soft cropped leather jacket; sleeves pushed up to my elbows and studs on the shoulders.
Cassie had straightened my blonde hair that it hung even longer to almost my hips and had done my make-up. The smoky eye shadow made my blue eyes shine like they never had.
“I told you that I would make you look good. ‘Edgy’ suits you by the way. You should do it more often” she said as she was putting lip gloss on her lips.
Standing away from the mirror and giving us the once over she grabbed her bag and headed out the door. I guessed it was time to leave then. Letting out a breath and feeling butterflies fill my stomach; I followed her out towards the front door.
We decided to walk as the school was only a block away. Well, one could say ‘only’, however, for someone that never wore heels, it might have been on the other side of the fucking world. My feet were killing me by the time we made it to the bonfire.
