Damon came back just as I was about to leave.

Dragging his suitcase, he walked into the room while talking on the phone.

“My car broke down. Can you give me a ride, Damon? I’ve already called a tow truck.”

Without hesitation, Damon agreed, not even asking for my opinion.

Carol’s eyes lingered on me, her expression slightly apologetic. “Ashley, can you move to the back? I get car sick and usually sit in the front with Damon.”

I raised an eyebrow and smiled.
