I Will Conquer The World!

Chapter 70: Badly Mutiliated

Lauren asked the boy with a concerned expression, "Where is your mother?"

The commotion caused quite a ruckus as a few people gathered around the boy and interrogated him.

One man recognized the boy as he said, "Merlin? What happened?"

The boy looked at the man with fearful eyes before recognizing that he was a good friend of his mother. The boy stuttered while tears streamed out of his eyes, "Uncle- uncle- two robbers attacked mom- she- she - she was hurt!"

The man hugged the boy while patting him and telling him words of encouragement.

He looked at the two noble knights in front of him and said, "Please save her!"

They nodded.contemporary romance

They analyzed the situation.

Since the child was able to escape, the robbers must not be professionals as they didn't notice him running away.

They must be ordinary robbers as the boy said that there were only two of them.

The two knights looked at each other and nodded.

Robinson declared, "Don't worry little boy. Tell us where your house is and we will take care of those robbers. Your mother will be okay."

Robinson thought that since the robbers were ordinary ones anyway, it was unlikely that she was killed. They must have hit her on the head or did something similar to make her unconscious.

He hoped that that was the case. He didn't want the child in front of him to lose his mother at such a young age.

The man who was consoling the boy explained where the house was. Near the outskirts of Lyria.

He also got to know that the boy and his mother lived in a house made with stones, which surprised Robinson since very few people lived in houses made with stones in Lyria.

The man, noticing his confusion, explained, "The child's mother is actually an apprentice healer. I got to know her when I was getting treated by the old healer."

Robinson nodded with realization. Being a healer was a quite profitable job after all. Especially in places like Lyria where there was only one healer, people gave high fees to get treated by her.

Some people took treatment from the apprentice healer, as it would be cheaper that way.

Even though it was cheaper, it was still a pretty high price. Getting a few patients every month is enough for her to live luxuriously.

Robinson signalled to Lauren and headed towards her house.

The man shouted, "Wait noble knights! May I also come to assist you?"

Robinson turned around and said with a soft smile on his face, "Please understand. It would be disastrous if you got hurt while we were battling with the robbers. They are ordinary robbers anyway. We will manage."

Robinson did not want to take the man with them for two reasons.

One, he would just be a baggage for them.

Two, he did not want innocent people to get hurt for no reason.

-------------------------------

Robinson and Lauren finally reached the stone house where the apprentice healer was supposed to live.

Robinson was shocked by the sheer size of the stone house. It was the size of four huts combined together.

Robinson mumbled under his breath, "Healers sure do make money."

There were a few stone houses in Lyria, in which the famous hunters and some other distinguished people lived in.

Robinson was not shocked by the fact that she could live in a stone house, but rather due to the sheer size of it.

It wasn't extraordinarily big or something, but for the standard of the Lyrians, it definitely was big.

As Robinson had roamed the whole town of Lyria for patrol, he had a general idea of what conditions Lyrians lived in.

So, Robinson was slightly surprised by the size of the house in front of him.

Robinson and Lauren had their swords drawn out as they were completely alert.

Robinson opened the door of the stone house very slowly and carefully, trying his best to make sure it does not make any noise.

He failed in his attempt though, as the noise of a creaking door rang out through the whole stone house.

Robinson immediately looked both the sides as soon as he entered, but he did not see anything unusual except for the fact that the mansion was completely dark.

There were no windows for the mansion, and the lamps that were meant to be lit inside the mansion were unlit too.

Robinson grit his teeth and squinted his eyes, trying to spot any kind of unusual movements.

He cursed himself for not bringing a piece of flint and iron. He could have lit the godd*mn lamps then.

He took a deep breath and calmed himself. There was no point of thinking of what he could have done. The only thing he can do is do what he can right now.

Lauren tagged closely behind him as they went towards the nearest door they could find.

They wanted to check the whole house.

But they were on utmost alert as the situation was highly unusual. There was nothing that was ransacked, and the only unusual thing they could spot was the lamps not being lit.

The only source of light they had was the open door which let sunlight in, but that too did not help much except in the starting.

Robinson opened a door to a room in the mansion and stepped inside. What he saw though, shocked him.

There was the body of a woman hung from the ceiling.

But, Robinson missed some very important details due to the complete absence of light.
