Chapter 157
Zoe shook her head. "I'm fine. I'm just a bit tipsy."
She took the coat from him. "I'll head back first."
David nodded, hands in his pockets. "Let me give you a ride."
Zoe knew David had other things to attend to and said, "You've had some drinks too. Take a cab. I'm fine. About the sponsorship-"
David interrupted with a smile. "I've got it covered. Leave it to me and Mr. Aiden to handle the big stuff. If you're really okay, I'll head in now. There's still some other entertainment planned later."
He was stubborn. Since Lilith gave up her music dreams, he hadn't contacted Mason.
Zoe felt grateful, putting on the coat and bidding farewell to David.
She arrived on the ground floor. The cab was taking a while due to the peak hours. After about half an hour, she finally got in, her face pale from the cold.
Mason sat in a black Bentley, watching Zoe waiting for the cab with her slender legs trembling in the wind. He watched her tightly wrapping her coat to shield her from the cold wind, anxiously checking her phone.
'Is this the life she wanted?'
She had no car and no drivers. She needed to accompany people to drinks, smile, and gauge their reactions.
'Is she truly happy like this?'
Mason leaned back in his seat.
He made a call to Ava. "Check the funding gap on Mr. Aiden's side for next year's 32 concerts. Also, take Zoe's car and drive it to her rented apartment."
Ava agreed immediately.
The next day, Mason was going through some documents in the CEO's office at Lockwood Group.
Ava came in and placed an itinerary on Mason's desk. "Here's the initial venue plan for Mr. Aiden's 32 concerts next year. Due to the withdrawal of the initial sponsor, there's a substantial funding gap, estimated at least 300 million. Also..."
Ava handed a set of car keys to Mason. "I drove the car to the neighborhood where Zoe lives. She didn't want the keys. She said she didn't need them. Mr. Mason, would you like to personally take them to her?"
Mason took the car keys and whispered, "You can leave."
The vast office returned to silence. Mason looked down at the car keys.
He remembered Zoe shivering in the night wind the night before.

Mason walked to the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking a large part of downtown Brookesville.
Suddenly, he missed Zoe.
A pang of loneliness hit him.
He took out his phone and dialed her number. Before she could answer, he hung up...
He was now experiencing a feeling of being close to home, yet wary because of caring too much.
After work, he drove to deliver the keys to her.
Zoe's rented apartment was in the

It was 42 square meters, small but well-equipped.
As Mason approached, he saw Zoe getting into a white BMW. The license plate was familiar to him.
He saw Zoe sitting in the passenger seat.
'Does she enjoy being with Cecil so much? Is she waiting to get with Cecil once we're divorced?'
