Chapter 113
Vivid colors filled the evening skies in autumn, adding to dusk’s gloriousness.
Zoe made her way back to the apartment. She had just opened the door when she heard Mason's warm, sweet voice.
“I used to fix my own pipes when I studied abroad.”
“I'll just change into a fresh suit tomorrow if I get wet! It's no problem, Mia!”
What was he doing here?
Closing the door, Zoe placed her keys on the hook by the door. Mia heard her movements and came to greet her.
“He’s been here for an hour now. It just so happens that the pipe in the kitchen broke and he insisted on fixing it! Is he here to take you back home?" Mia was genuinely surprised.
Mason was so conceited under normal circumstances. When had he ever fixed a pipe? All men were the same, it'd seem. They could do anything previously thought to be impossible if it was about winning a lady's favor!
Taking off her coat, Zoe said softly, “I'm staying here tonight.”
Mia let out a sigh of relief. “Alright. I'll make some dinner! You'll have to speak nicely during dinner. Also, take it easy on your dad. He wouldn't say it out loud but he's not Mason's biggest fan.”
Zoe already knew it. “Okay.”
Mason came out from the kitchen and met her gaze. He stared at her briefly before saying, “Mia said you went out for an art exhibition. Why do you look so upset?”
She felt a little uneasy. She was upset because of what Gregory had said. He said he could give up everything for her and that reminded her of a time when she had felt the same way about Mason. She had loved him more than she had loved herself, and it didn't end well.
She made an excuse. “The winds were rather strong and some grit must have gotten into my eyes earlier!”
Just like that, Mason dropped the issue.
Gordon was mostly cold and distant during dinner. Mia was worried it was too quiet. She looked at Zoe and probed, “You should go back home with Mason! The folks around here do square dances all the way to midnight. You guys are used to living in a manor. It might be too noisy for you.”
Zoe didn’t say anything. Mason, on the other hand, put down his cutlery and smiled faintly.
“It's good to have some merry noise, Mia! I'll stay here with Zoe for a couple more days. It works out because I can keep you and Gordon company as well.”
Mia lowered her head and ate her dinner quietly.
He had no shame at all! How was Zoe supposed to win against him in any fight?
Mason and Zoe went back to her room after dinner. The room was around four hundred and thirty square feet. There was a compact living room as well as a private bathroom. It had everything they needed.
He was a neat freak. The moment he stepped into her bedroom, he unfastened his shirt buttons and unbuckled his belt. Not long after, he was naked except for his boxer briefs, which were tight and left nothing to the imagination.
Her face turned red and she couldn't even look at him.
Casting her a casual glance, he tossed her his car key. “There's another set of clothes in the trunk of my car. Bring them up for me.” She knew it. He had come prepared.
He hopped into the shower as she came after him and asked, “How long are you going to stay here?”
Turning on the shower, steam filled the entire bathroom pretty quickly. Even his voice was kind of muffled. He said casually, “I'll stay here until you agree to come home!”
He was such a shameless guy!
She went downstairs to get him his fresh clothes. By the time she came back, he was out of the bathroom. He wore nothing but a bathrobe and his hair was wet as he leaned on the window, fiddling with his lighter absentmindedly.
He noticed she was back and asked lightly, “I asked Ava to check on it and she found out that you didn’t use the bank card I prepared for you. Why haven't you spent any of the money I gave you?"
She didn’t answer him at first. Taking his fresh clothes out of the bag, she gently smoothed them out before hanging them up. He was very particular about these sorts of things.
She responded after she was done. “I've got some money of my own!” He reached out and pulled her onto his lap. She felt a little uneasy the moment she sat on his lap. Lowering her gaze, she looked at his manhood and blushed.
Running his hand across her cheeks, he said, “You've seen it before. How are you still this embarrassed about it?"
She turned her head around and leaned on his shoulder.
