I Kissed A CEO And He Liked It!

Chapter 19: Take Care Of You

Hank: [Kyle, this is to inform you that Miss Taylor was in need of withdrawal. She needed to get her mother's necklace from her aunt and so I offered to pay for it for three thousand dollars.] Kyle read the text coming from Hank.

Learning that he had dropped off Gabrielle at the lobby, he was anticipating her arrival. What he did not expect to see was a drenched Gabrielle Taylor, lost in her thoughts.

The second she opened the door, her face clearly reflected sorrow. Her eyes were sore and beautiful face lacked its normal radiance.

Kyle had never felt pain in all his life, but seeing her in such a state, he was equally plagued. Knitting his brows together, he asked, "Why are you wet? What happened?" While he expected an answer from Gabrielle, the next thing she did was cry helplessly in his presence.

He noticed how she was trembling, holding a piece of jewelry in her hand.

Without another word, she embraced him so tight, wrapping her arms around his neck!

As Kyle returned the hold, not minding getting his clothes wet. He heard her say, "Kyle... thank you... Thank you so much for everything you have done for me."

He understood how it was about the necklace, but before he could talk about it, he said, "You need to take a warm shower, Gaby."

There was nothing else but care, expressing through his eyes as he pulled away. He reached for her face and wiped the tears from her cheeks with both his thumbs. He suggested, "You'll catch a cold. Please take a shower."

Gabrielle struggled to halt her tears, but she understood how she needed to get warmed. She nodded and slowly made her way to her room, with Kyle following behind her.

It was nearly an hour when Gabrielle came out to the living room, already bathed.

In her sweater and comfortable denim shorts, she quietly took the seat in front of Kyle.

She noticed how he had already changed. She then bit her lip, realizing she had surely wet his clothes.

Kyle pointed to a mug of warm drink on the center table and said, "Have some warm chocolate milk."

She nodded and thanked him before taking a few sips. After some time, she asked, "How are you back so early? I thought you would be back in the evening."

"I always take a private jet so I can leave anytime I wanted. I arrived early and decided to come home," he answered, looking straight into her eyes.

Gabrielle looked away, feeling her face turn warm with the intensity of his dark brown orbs. She asked, "Did Hank tell you?"

Kyle leaned over, maintaining to gaze at her, and responded, "Yes, he informed me, and don't worry about the cost. We'll figure something out... later."

After emptying the warm drink, Gabrielle reached for her pocket on the side of her short pants and pulled out her mother's necklace. She explained, "This - this was a family heirloom. That was what my mother said, but I never met any of my relatives from her side... I don't even know anything about them."

"Can I see?" Kyle asked.

Gabrielle saw how Kyle frowned, studying the back of the necklace, and she soon heard him say, "The crest at the back is familiar. I feel like I've seen this before - maybe in Europe?" He gave it back and promised, "If I remember anything, I'll let you know."

She sighed, taking the necklace and putting it back to safety. She revealed, "Well, my Mom said she was from Europe, but other than that, I don't know anything else."

For seconds, both of them were just silent, waiting for one to open up again. Soon, Gabrielle's voice came out as she expounded while turning emotional at the memory of her mother, Genevieve Taylor, "But you see, my mother loved the necklace. I saw how she prized it so. Even if she chose not to tell me anything, it's valuable to me."

She shook her head and added, "It's just that, back then, my young self lost it, meddling with her things. I wasn't able to take it with me when my aunt asked me to leave."

Recalling her aunt, Gabrielle wept again and told, "I really hate my aunt. I am her flesh and blood! I don't understand why she could not show me compassion!"

"It's... It's because your father was adopted. They weren't really siblings. Thus, you... you weren't really flesh and blood to her," Kyle revealed, shocking Gabrielle entirely.

"Despite your father being adopted, I believe, base on what I have learned, he was the more favored child of your grandparents. She must have grown to hate your father," Kyle suggested. Kyle saw how Gabrielle grimaced. Her lips trembled, and she stuttered as she asked, "How -how - "

"The day after we went out for dinner, I had your aunt investigated... including your father," Kyle revealed. "I'm sorry if I was intruding in your life, but your aunt's actions did not make sense to me." Kyle stood up and sat down next to Gabrielle. He reached for her hand and offered, "I know you said... you fight your own battles, but... I'd really like to help you, Gaby."

Watching as droplets of tears flowed down her cheeks, he added, "And I won't ask anything from you in return. Let me... let me help you."

"You see, in Braeton, forced heirship exists. A child cannot be without an inheritance. I'm sure your aunt is lying about something, and I am determined to find out about it," Kyle suggested.

"If it makes it easier for you to accept things, sometimes, I feel my attorneys are overpaid without work to be done but legalize my documents. They could use some... real action," he added as a way to persuade her.

"Why - why are you so good to me, Kyle?" Barely audible, she softly asked. She bit her lip as more water came out from her eyes. "Why are you helping me?" "Shhh," Kyle put an arm around Gabrielle and wiped the tears with his thumb. He then answered, "Because... I sense... you needed someone to take care of you." Gabrielle felt a lump in her throat. More than just recalling the survey she filled out almost a week ago, she earnestly felt touch by Kyle's gestures.

She felt her heart aching, feeling all the weight she had long carried on her shoulders came crashing down on her.

She broke down in tears again and wound up in Kyle's arms.

Gabrielle let it all out, sobbing and sobbing until time had passed. She did not know how long she wept in Kyle's arms, and the second her tears ran dry, she instantly felt part of her burdens had been lifted. She wasn't sure if Kyle was for real or if he had other reasons for being helpful, but one thing was for sure, she felt she found a friend in him.

As she pulled away, she carelessly wiped her face with her fingers, and unwittingly, she said, "Thanks, Kyle. More than just a good boss... You are a great friend."

Gabrielle wasn't sure what she said wrong, but she instantly saw how Kyle had shifted to having a long face.

"Let's have dinner," Kyle hastily said, before getting up.
