I fell in love in another world

chapter 4

A musty smell with the mixture of Iron reached Luna's nose. Waking up; her hands slowly trailed the cold rough ground. One by one her body parts started to respond in the area that surrounded her. Notifying her to open her eyes.

Luna rose her body up. She looked around in confusion. "Wasn't I in the Grand Hall?" she mumbled.

She in fact wasn’t in the Grand Hall anymore, but a dark space. A space where the walls were dirty stone and the ground was flat concrete. She decided to touch around, trusting her senses, since her eyes couldn’t see everything around.

As her fingers grazed the unknown, she suddenly felt metal. Long pieces of metal; then another and another. The slender and long feeling felt familiar to her.

“Am I in a prison!” she gasped.

Everything started to make sense. The metal she touched felt like long poles that we're connected. There was now no doubt in her mind and Luna grew more scared as each second passed. She paced but not very far, for the prison cell she was in was very small.

The sound of a door opening caught her attention. She gazed as yellow light slowly peered in, shrouding the room with light. It wasn’t enough to cover the whole space but it was just enough to reach her cell. Luna sucked in a breath, taking in the room she was in. The walls were stone and the floor a cracked concrete. She was in a small cell and there was only one other beside her. She couldn't fully inspect the other cell for heavy footsteps approached her.

“Miss Luna,” Clapped Duke Gerald. He was in a different outfit. He was now in a deep red shirt and black silk pants. Standing behind him were all the knights: Alexaiver, Lex, Draco, and Derrek. They all smiled at her. Luna's skin felt like millions of bugs had crawled on it all at once.

“Where am I?” Luna tried to make her voice sound like an order but it came out as a whisper.

The Duke cheerful smile grew as he hobbled to her. “Miss Luna, in order to know where you are at all times and change your mind I had to take necessary measures.”

“So I’m in jail?” She said. her face confused by his logic. He locked me in here because I didn’t want to marry him!?

“Oh don’t be mad, I’ll happily let you out now. If...” He trailed off smugly.

Anger stirred inside Luna and a stern tone came out. “If what!” All the knights started to chuckle quietly, all seeming amused by her. She felt embarrassment then more anger as she realized. “If what you’re proposing is for me to marry you, I-I never will.”

For the first time, Draco spoke. “You should watch your tone Bitch.”

Luna stepped away from the bars as Draco’s eyes started to glow brighter.

Lex the one Luna thought was kind that she could trust stepped forward. “You only need to marry the Duke, then all this will go away. We won’t harm you.”

She glared at all of them. She refused to make a sound or talk to them, what she said was final, and she wouldn’t ever marry that horrible man. After a moment of silence, they all took her quietness as an answer. With a flick of the wrist, the Duke ordered the knights away. They did but not without grunting.

“Luna you are testing my patience, I will not be so kind to you if you continue this disrespect.” He said, each word spitting from his lips.

Luna turned away from him and planted herself in a corner, tucking her head in her knees. What will I do? I Don't want to be in this place forever but to marry such a horrific man…

“Fine, be that way.” He walked over to the cell next to her. “But just so you know you aren't alone down here.”

Her head snapped to the cell next to her, she couldn't see anything until the duke created a small source of light with his hands. A dark figure was in the corner just like her. She couldn’t see its body all the way but she could tell it was human and had long black stranded hair. The length was fascinating as it reached all the way to the floor. Luna was stunned that such a person was here with her all this time, and she hadn’t noticed. Still, to this very moment, she wondered if they were alive, because of their stillness and quietness she almost thought they were dead.

Until the Duke used his left hand and used his magic to pull the person by the hair to its bars. They growled loudly as they were dragged away. Luna's heart ached as they’re animalistic growl soon turned into a groan.

“This monster is ruthless Luna. It may appear as a man, but it is a monster of incomparable strength.” The duke grinned. “You wouldn’t want to stay with such a person now, would you?”

The Duke grabbed the person by the scalp, forcing their head back so Luna could see their eyes. She gasped as she saw their blood red eyes glow at her. She felt for the very first time as if she was looking death in the eyes. The nausea returned, causing her to feel her head getting woozy.

She was now unsure. Unsure of herself and of whoever was in that cell. His eyes watched her cling to the wall and for a single moment, she thought she saw pity in his eyes.

“You see, you’re trembling at the mere sight of him. And I bet you are feeling quite nauseous.” Duke Gerald grinned as if this was amusing. “I can tell you why you are feeling such a way.”

Luna’s head turned to him with interest. He knows what's wrong with me?

The Duke gleamed and released the man who had no strength to continue to raise his head. His head fell with a noticeable smack that made Luna wince.

“Miss Luna, while you were unconscious I took on the liberty of researching you. I never really go into the library but you indeed piqued my interest. I found a little information on you. It was very small and short nothing that you haven't showed me, except the small information that you are very prone to the smell of death. If your little nose catches a small whiff of someone who died in an area you are in, you start to feel sickly.” He laughed loudly. The walls echoed his voice perfectly as they surrounded them. “I suppose that's why you vomited in my hall.”

Luna frowned at the memory.

He started walk to her cell. “I’ve killed hundreds of my people and others in this place Luna, If you don’t decide on your option soon, I’d hate for you to be next.” With that he left.

Tears and embarrassment filled her. Why was I sent here? These people do not need me, they need a miracle. Everyone is cruel and sad and in so much pain, everywhere I turn I am reminded on death. I am so frightened. I do not want to stay in this world any longer, I wish that golden man would take me home.

“You should…take his offer.”

Luna gasped. The voice of the man next to her was not what Luna expected to hear. She leaned her back to the wall and gazed at the cell next to her. She saw the frame of the man but not his eyes. It seemed he wasn't facing her.

“What?” Her voice croaked.

“I said…you should take his offer, I can tell by looking at you that you are not fit to survive down here…In fact, I know you won’t. So I’ll give you some advice and tell you to say yes.” His hands shuffled as he mumbled something about watching a flower wilt.

His voice was dry as he whispered. As if he hadn’t drunk a sip of water in days. Would her voice sound like this too if she stayed inside these bars?

Luna shook her head. “I cannot. I know that I can not withstand this place, but to marry such a man… would mean I would face death almost every day.”

The man looked at her through his long hair, yet she didn’t notice. “Better that, than to almost meet death every day.”

That's right. This man has been here for who knows how long. What I’m saying probably sounds like gibberish to him.

Luna fiddled with her hands feeling that she needed to get away from the subject of death. “My name is Luna, Luna Chandni…If I may ask-who are you?”

He leaned his head to the stone walls and chuckled so deeply Luna lifted her head. “Angel, I have gone by many names; The Evil Spirit, Beast, The devil reincarnated, and of course Monster.” He slowly looked at her.

Their eyes connected again. However, Luna felt no disgust this time nor fear but instead felt entranced, and a little puzzled at the nickname.

His eyes lowered to the floor before looking forward again. “My name is Keir.”

Luna waited for him to continue but it seemed that's all he was willing to give. She sighed with a weak attempt of a smile. “Just Keir huh.”

He didn’t respond.

“Is it true what he said about you?” Luna asked for her soul urged to know the answer.

“If you’re asking whether I am good the answer is no, and If you’re asking If I am powerful the answer is very.” He twisted the end of a strand of his hair. “To answer your next question as to why I haven't left this place and killed that fat pig that answer is simply because I am too weak. When that-” He coughed and his voice got dryer. “When he captured me I was in a weak state and as manic as that man is he is very smart to keep me at a weak state, or I would’ve burned this place to the ground by now.”

Luna had many more questions but she saw how weak he looked and didn't want him to speak anymore. “Do you know why I am here? I am here because I’m supposedly special…You and I are in similar situations. Both two unique birds trapped by a cruel master. I was brought here into this world by force. By a man of gold and terrifying purple eyes. He said I had a purpose before kidnapping me and taking me to this god-awful place.” Luna pounded the floor, she instantly regretted it for she scrapped her hand. She waved her hand at the pain. “Except I am not useful, I cannot help anyone here, What use do I have if I do not even understand my powers?”

Suddenly the feeling of her wounded hand felt cool. Luna quickly looked at the hand she scraped. The tear in her palm was slowly but surely healing. It seemed her new body could heal itself without her telling it too.

I really don’t understand this power…

Keir was about to open his lips when the door suddenly slammed open. “Make it quick!” grunted a large man that Luna couldn't see entirely. because his head didn't look inside. A small frame stood beside him. So frail and recognizable that Luna cried out.

It's that old woman! Why is she here?

The old woman tried her best to scurry inside but was still pushed by the guard. She carried a small wooden bowl. When she got pushed a lot of it spilled out.

“Miss?” Luna mumbled.

“Oh, Luna dear.” The old woman sorrowfully said as she focussed on not spilling any more water.

The old woman walked to the cell and kneeled. “Hello again Keir, I'm sorry but this is all I could bring.” She raised the bowl to show him.

Keir pushed his body up, but not without struggle. Luna was very surprised to see that Keir was so big. Big as in tall. He wasn’t very big in the muscle department because he looked starved and weak, but if he ate and revived his muscles, he would without a doubt look bigger. He rested his body on the bars not trying to catch his own weight. The cell bars shook as they vibrated.

“May, for you to still put so much effort for me, is enough.” he raised his head and pushed his body to the bars.

The old woman that Luna now found out was called May sighed and laid the bowl to his lips so he could sip the water. Keir drank the water and a low rumble of a satisfied beast reached everyone’s ears.

May walked to Luna. “Oh dear, you weren't supposed to be in this situation. Duke Gerald has been kind enough to let me come see you so I can change your mind.”

Luna sighed. “Thank you May but I don’t think I can, I don’t wanna be trapped here forever, especially with Duke Gerald.”

“Come here dear.” May lowered herself and put her hands through the bars. Luna did what she asked.

May caressed Luna's cheek. “You are too young and too beautiful to be in jail, if you come out, you’ll see it's not so bad. You’ll have pretty dresses of all sorts and many people who’ll adore you.”

Luna leaned away from her frail hand. “I think you mean they’ll be afraid of me. Everyone will if I stand next to him.”

May looked down for a second before her eyebrows furrowed and she whispered. “Dear come close.”

Everything suddenly felt more serious so Luna turned her head so her ear could be closer.

“Dear if you come out and agree to marry the Duke, I can get you out of here.”

Luna covered her mouth as she gasped. Could it really be true?

May smiled with determination. “I guarantee it.”
