I Fell For The Boy His Daddy Was A Bonus

Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Kaleb Wright
“So, Mister Wright? Will you allow Liam to be friends with Scarlett, despite what you have learned about her?” Boris asked, his
brow raised with curiosity.
“With the time I have spent observing her at the restaurant, Boris, I sensed she has a noble character. Maybe she made a
mistake. Maybe her mistake was that she tried to fight for her past relationship. We don‘t know for sure. Until I get her side of the
story, I won‘t judge her,” Kaleb sighed and suggested.
“Still, a single or a few mistakes do not define us. For those who learn from mistakes, it molds them into a better person.” Kaleb’s
eyes narrowed, thinking about the words that Scarlett said in the car.
She mentioned how Luca and Courtney were part of her past that she wished she had never had. He concluded how she
regretted whatever happened or regretted getting involved with them.
“I made many mistakes, Boris, but my mother and father never stopped being my parents. If there is some truth, even for a little
to the accusations toward Scarlett, don‘t you think they should have done more to help guide her to the right path?” Kaleb shook
his head and hinted, “I hate to make assumptions of Cindy and Philip Barnes, but something is not adding up.”
Boris was very impressed by Kaleb. He heard many stories about the youngest of Ethan Wright, the former king of the Wright
Diamond Corporation. They said Kaleb was the less serious and less responsible amongst the siblings of the Wrights, but the
Kaleb before him was far different.
“Mister Wright, I’m sorry to comment, but your father often mentioned how you have changed for the better since Liam‘s arrival...
despite, you know... his mother. Hearing you now, I finally understand why... Perhaps your past magnified your wisdom,” Boris
remarked.
“Yes, Boris. You see, my involvement with Liam‘s mother was a mistake, my mistake. Since then, I have learned my lesson, but I
have had no regrets. Because of Liam‘s mother, I have my son,” Kaleb acknowledged. “It was because of Liam that I have
learned to appreciate many of my father‘s legacies. I have also become patient, and I have learned to be selfless... I have
become a better father for him.”
Thinking back, Kaleb hissed. It was a trap set by Liam‘s mother. A trap that failed. It was somewhat traumatic that Kaleb warded
women off.

For many years, Kaleb was very selective about the women he befriended. A few times, he gave dating a chance, hoping to give
Liam a mother. However, whenever he did, the women failed miserably with Liam. I t was either Liam hated them, or the women
did not like the idea of having to care for someone else’s child. To sum it up, Liam was Kaleb‘s priority, and it had been very
difficult to find a good match for Liam.
Thus, this sudden arrival of Scarlett was refreshing to Kaleb. Not only was he attracted to her at first sight, but it also appeared
destiny had its own way of sculpting his future. His son liked Scarlett too!
Were the heavens finally on his side? Will he finally get married to someone that he earnestly like? Kaleb Wright was already
thirty–two years old. Even if he had a son, his parents, Ethan and Samantha Wright, worried about his love life, too.
Furthermore, Ethan Wright wanted a soccer team of grandchildren! Being the last single child of his parents, Kaleb was left with
the burden of completing the number of members of the Wrights Kiddie Soccer Team. Call it crazy, but his parents wanted a big
family.
Dead air fell upon them, with Boris and Kaleb thinking intensely. Eventually, Kaleb added, “You know what impressed me most
about Scarlett, Boris? I asked her if she needed anything from me. Despite returning Liam home, she did not ask me to return
the favor.”
A smirk formed on his face when he added, “At least, not yet.”
“So what are you going to do now, Mister Wright?” Boris asked.
“I’m going to... see her soon,” Kaleb replied, his mind constantly thinking about Scarlett’s beautiful face. “I want to get to know
her more.”
Days had passed since learning about Scarlett‘s past.
Kaleb was about ready to leave for work. He easily found Liam waiting for him in the living room.
“Ready for school, buddy?” Kaleb asked. “Be good.”
“I will be good, daddy if you share with me the photos of my Beauty, the ones you took of her from the car,” Liam reminded.
Kaleb groaned, but knowing his son‘s stubbornness he agreed, “Fine, I‘ll save them on your iPad.”
“I want everything. Also, those stolen shots you took of her,” Liam added, shocking Kaleb.

‘How was it that his son knew?’ Kaleb had to admit it, Liam was quite a sharp observer. He cleared his throat and replied, “I don‘t
know what you are talking about.”
Liam grumbled and reminded, “Scarlett is my Beauty! I won‘t go to school without her photos!”
The father and son exchanged words, arguing about the photos, but when Kaleb realize how it was getting late, he surrendered,
saying, “Fine, as long as you don‘t tell her about it, okay?”
In the next few minutes, Kaleb went about transferring the photos to Liam‘s iPad. He said, “There, but you can‘t bring your iPad
inside the school. Leave your valuables with uncle Boris. Remember? Don‘t tell Scarlett about the secret photos.”
Liam did not answer. He only said, “Yay! Thank you, daddy!” He then pleaded with puppy eyes, “Can we have dinner with my
Beauty again, daddy? Please? I miss her already.”
“You miss her already?” Kaleb sought. He made a mess of Liam‘s hair and suggested, ‘You must really like her a lot, don‘t you?”
“I do, daddy. I do. I really like her,” Liam answered with eagerness.
“Then, I‘ll see her in the afternoon and invite her for dinner,” Kaleb promised. “For now, we need to leave for school and your
uncle Boris has been waiting in the driveway.”

Later that day, Kaleb got stuck with work, covering several meetings in the absence of his CEO brother, H e only left the
company after seven in the evening. He called Scarlett a few times, but she did not answer. Kaleb wasn’t sure if he could still
make it to see Scarlett, but he wanted to give it a try.
Despite the rain that started to pour, he drove himself to the restaurant, and upon reaching there, he parked closest to the
building. He frowned, seeing the downpour, and as he puffed, his eyes wandered to the entrance,
His plan was to seize the umbrella from behind the car, but just as he opened the door to his Knight XV, h e saw a familiar figure
running in his direction.
Scarlett was racing barefoot, wearing her miniskirt uniform, and he could tell she was in distress. He quickly got off the car and
called for her, “Scarlett! Scarlett!”

He saw the startled Scarlett, taking deep breaths at the sight of him, and it was clear to him that she felt relieved. He heard her
say, “K – Kaleb?”
“So what are you going to do now, Mister Wright?” Boris asked.

another woman, fuming in anger. “Come back here or you will lose your job!”
“Is everything okay, Scarlett?” He asked, while assessing the situation.
“K – Kaleb? Can – can I get a ride home?” Scarlett asked. “Get in.”
