I Fell For The Boy His Daddy Was A Bonus

Chapter 41: Karma Is Coming

“Well, what is it?” Scarlett asked. She looked at her watch and said to her three visitors,” Please. I still have a dance practice with
Kaleb. I can’t miss it.”
Scarlett was looking straight at Cindy, Courtney, and Analisa. Her patience was wearing thin at how the three were stalling.
“Your sister, Courtney, is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice,” Cindy finally spoke. “For you.”
“Oh,” Scarlett replied, her brows raised as she reacted. “That’s surprising.”
Instantly, she saw how Courtney’s eyes watered. She reached for a tissue from her bag and wiped the corners of her eyes.
“What sacrifice are you going to do for me, my dearest sister?” Scarlett asked, utterly curious.
“Scarlett, Courtney will end her relationship with Luca. She figured, you are still so hurt about your breakup with Luca that you
are making it difficult for us – you know, with your father’s will,” Cindy explained.
“Sister, I did not want to make things difficult with father. He is really going through so much and still, he has to deal with your
demands. It’s rather too much for him,” Courtney said.“ Please have pity on father, Scarlett.”
“Wait. Wait. What are you saying? You are going to end your engagement with Luca just so I can stop claiming my rightful
inheritance?” Scarlett retorted before she laughed thoroughly at their efforts.
“What is so funny, Scarlett?” Analisa asked. “We figured you are still so in love with Luca that you went as far as using Kaleb
Wright to make him jealous. We don’t know how you were able to deceive Kaleb Wright, but you better stop this now before he
finds out about it.”
“Mother Analisa. Your true colors are showing,” Scarlett suggested. She turned her gaze to Courtney and announced, “Courtney,
you can have Luca to yourself. Please keep him because I am nowhere interested in him.”
Scarlett purposely raised her left hand. She flaunted her ring, and she responded, “I don’t think Luca James can afford me this
ring. Why would I settle for Luca James when I have a man like Kaleb Wright?”
She was not one to boast, but the look of envy on Courtney’s face was just too sweet. A self satisfied look became painted on
her face before Scarlett added, “Besides, Luca knows I want nothing to do with him. I made that clear to him when he came
looking for me two nights
Scarlett noticed how Courtney’s face paled at the mention of Luca. She did not expect it, but it delighted her knowing Luca and
Courtney were having troubles. She laughed inwardly, thinking how karma was coming for Courtney.
“He.” A frown became painted on Courtney’s face. She asked, “He came to see you?”
“Yes, he did. He came to ask me about what happened a year ago.” Scarlett replied outright.” And I told him what I know.”
Shifting her gaze to both Analisa and Courtney, Scarlett suggested, “I’m surprised how you both knew about Luca’s condition.
Tell me, how did you find out?”
“What’s Luca’s condition?” Cindy interrupted, her brows furrowed as she asked.
“I don’t know what you are talking about, Scarlett. We don’t know anything,” Analisa was the one who answered next, her eyes

fiercely peering sideways at Courtney, as if giving her a warning to zip her mouth.
“If you say so, mother Analisa, but let’s leave it at that because I honestly don’t care anymore,” Scarlett countered. She moved
closer to the table, and she narrowed her eyes at the three ladies in front of her. She said, “All I care about is getting what is right
for me.”
“And what makes you think that you have every right to our wealth? After how you brought so much trouble into the family?”
Cindy pointed out. “Have you forgotten how you got yourself drunk while coming with us to the company’s 10th year
anniversary? And what about the time that you spilled hot coffee over Misses Bart? And let’s not forget how you tried to seduce
Alejandro Lopez -”
“I did not do all that, mother!” Scarlett pointed at Courtney and claimed, “She did. At the company’s anniversary party, I was
young and new to your world. Courtney was the one who kept giving me drinks. You never believed me.”
“I never spilled the drink on Misses Bart on purpose. Courtney blocked my way, but you never listened to me.”
“And as for Alejandro Lopez? That may not have anything to do with Courtney, but he was the one who tried to hit on me. I
simply fought back, but did you care? No. Instead, you trusted his words over mine – ”
“Because you are a proven liar!” Cindy announced. “When you were twenty-one, you said you did not take my ring, but I found it
in your room -”
“And I told you, I did not know how the ring got there. I can only assume your other daughter put it there,” Scarlett replied, and
this time she was calm. She was tired of explaining herself.
Scarlett took a deep breath. In front of the three ladies, she closed her eyes, soothing herself. When she opened her eyes, she
reached for Cindy’s hand and said, “Being my biological
mother, I still hope and pray that one day you will see the truth.”
She checked the time and then decided, “For now, our time to chat is up.” Pointing to the glass window of the coffee shop, she
added, “My boyfriend is already here, and he doesn’t like to wait.”
Just at the sight of Kaleb, the three ladies fell mute. They can easily talk to Scarlett, but Kaleb was another story.
Kaleb walked into the coffee shop with all his greatness, his frame looming over them. He stood in front of Scarlett and leaned in
to kiss her cheek. Starir trouble here?”
“No. No trouble,” Cindy was the first one to reply.
“Mister Wright.” Courtney, however, just could not help herself. Her mouth itched to speak up. She said, “I think my sister is using
you. Earlier, she bragged about her ring and she suggested Luca could never give the same kind. Which is why she will remain
by your side.”
Courtney looked at both her mothers and sought their agreement. “Mother Analisa and mother Cindy heard everything.”
“You must know, Scarlett is not what she seems to be. She is only using you,” Courtney added.
“Scarlett is using me?” Kaleb asked back, his eyes narrowing at Courtney. “Are you suggesting that I am stupid enough to be

used?”
Courtney defended, “No. I did not say that, Mister Wright. You just don’t see _”
“And now you are calling me blind?” Kaleb countered, his voice strengthening.
“No, Mister Wright. You just don’t realize how Scarlett is fooling you _.”
“And now you think I am crazy?” Kaleb responded, right before forming a sneer on his face. “I should sue you for defamation!”
“No! Mister Wright! You are putting words into my mouth -”
“How dare you insinuate I’d put my precious hands into your filthy mouth!” Kaleb said back, shocking everyone, including
Scarlett.
“No”
“I think we need to leave,” It was Analisa said. She rose from her seat and held Courtney’s hand. At least, she was getting a
better sense of the situation. “I’m sorry for my daughter’s upsetting words. She has no intention of looking down on you.”
“Before you go, Analisa Rivera.” Kaleb turned to Analisa and asked, “Scarlett mentioned that you studied at Braeton North. You
should know that one of the founders, Father Fortun,
passed away the other day. You should pay your respects and perhaps relearn the morals the university taught.”
Kaleb could see how Analisa was trying her best to hold her anger. He observed how she gritted her teeth and looked down.
When she gazed back up, she replied, “Father Fortun was a good man. Thank you for the information.”
Walking to the hotel lobby, Kaleb and Scarlett watched the trio take a leave. Courtney and Cindy rode in their private car while
Analisa took a taxi.
“She is definitely lying,” Kaleb said.
“And how can you confirm this?” Scarlett inquired.
“Because... I made up Father Fortun.” A scoff left Kaleb’s lips as he said, “Braeton North is not even run by a religious
organization.”
“Perhaps.” Scarlett sighed and said, “Still, we don’t know about mother Analisa’s past.”
Scarlett looked at Kaleb and asked, “How was it?”
“Already in motion,” Kaleb replied.

Heartbeats later.
Courtney and Cindy arrived at the Barnes’ mansion completely defeated. They both had long faces, their brows frequently
meeting.
“I’ll go check on your father,” Cindy suggested.
Courtney nodded and replied, “I’ll ask Aurora to make us some food.”
It was only minutes after that Cindy came back down, looking for Aurora and Courtney.” Courtney! Aurora!”

“Mother, I cannot find Aurora,” Courtney said before calling another maid from the kitchen.
“Well, I also can’t find your father,” Cindy revealed.
A frown easily formed on Courtney’s face as she called for the other maid and Cindy went straight to call the security, on guard at
the gate. Eventually, a maid came to the living room and reported, “Misses Barnes, I thought you knew. Aurora said she was
taking Mister Barnes to the hospital, and that you were already there waiting for them.”
While Cindy panicked, Courtney became white as a ghost. She screamed, “What do you mean?!”
