I Fell For The Boy His Daddy Was A Bonus

Chapter 31

Chapter 31: Right For Me
“Downgrade?’ Scarlett’s eyes rounded. She sucked in a deep breath and puffed. Only then did she turn to Nicole and asked, “So
you think a future lawyer is a downgrade to a model?”
Scarlett shook her head and said, “Sorry, but in our world, attorneys are more distinguished than models.”
She was never one to look down on people. After all, Scarlett was raised in hardship, but her pride itched t o fight back. She
added, “And what about being different? Strange how I have been hearing that word lately.”
Scarlett shrugged and suggested, “If he has not settled down with someone like you, then, maybe different is what Kaleb needs.”
“You have some confidence.”
“Of course! I’m his girlfriend, not you. I’m the one he holds tiand with,” Scarlett countered. “The one he goes home to -”
“Goes home to you?” With a scorned expression, Nicole said, “I doubt that. He has a bastard child to home to. I bet he fucks you
at a hotel and leaves you there.”
“We live together,” Scarlett shot back, her body ready to leave the restroom.
“What?” Nicole asked back, her face frowning at the revelation. “That’s – that’s crazy? He has a son. How can you live with him?”
“Because... I live with Kaleb and Liam.” Scarlett crossed her arms against her chest, claiming, ‘You could say we are a family -”
“But – that’s impossible. Dylan told me he doesn’t just let anyone go up to his penthouse.”
“I stay with him. We sleep in his bed – in fact, we make love in his bed all the time!” Scarlett countered.
“You are lying!” Nicole said with fierce eyes, her finger pointing at Scarlett.
“I’m different,” Scarlett reminded. “He probably sees me... as a wife material.” With a sigh, she added, “I mean, compared to the
likes of you.” 2
Without waiting for another answer, Scarlett turned on her heel and left. She may have exaggerated the truth to Nicole, but
Scarlett was not about to go down after being labeled as inferior. She was half certain Kaleb wouldn’t mind anyway, right?
In the next hour, Dylan and his girlfriend, Jia, joined Scarlett and Kaleb at their table. They chatted about upcoming celebrations,
one that they expected Kaleb and her to attend.
Scarlett’s emotions had already been alleviated, thanks to Dylan’s humor and voluble ways, but just as she was getting
comfortable, Nicole joined their table, her face flushed, clearly from having had several glasses of wine.
“Kaleb, you know your date was spouting nonsense earlier in the restroom. Haha!” Pointing the glass at Scarlett, Nicole
revealed, “She claims you are living together, that you make love to her in your bed – she? Hahal None of us, including Dylan,
has even been to your penthouse! Everyone knows how you kept your private space sacred.”
“Haha! She even dares to think of herself as a wife material! Oh my god, Kaleb. She is too full of herself -”
“She does live with me and Liam,” Kaleb confirmed. “And I see her as my future wife. If not for the fact that she still needs to take
her board exams, I would have married her outright... And our sex life? Is none of your business, Nicole. You don’t need to bring

that up in the open.”
“Pfftt... Come on, Kaleb. You – you are not really serious about this boring girl?” Nicole said, her words cutting in and out,
realizing her mistake of approaching Kaleb.
Getting up from his seat, Kaleb declared, “If you want proof of how serious I am with Scarlett, I’ll be sure t o send you an
invitation to our wedding.” He turned to Dylan and said, “I’m sorry, Dylan, but Scarlett and I are leaving.”
Glaring at Nicole, Kaleb added, “Some of your guests are starting to act inappropriately and I don’t want m y girlfriend to feel
uncomfortable.”
“Kaleb, you don’t have to leave. I can kick Nicole out? Security?” Dylan said, his head turning to find his guards.
“What? No! Why should I be the one to leave, Dylan? You’ve known me longer -” Nicole tried to reason with Dylan, but not long
before, the security came to fetch her, bringing her out of the party.
After the incident with Nicole, Kaleb took Scarlett out for a walk. Dylan’s mansion had a bigger garden in the back. It was there
that the couple found a gazebo to settle down.
“I’m sorry about Nicole,” Kaleb said while remaining to hold Scarlett’s hand.
“Is it true that you dated?” Scarlett probed, all while trying to hide her interest in his past.
Groaning, Kaleb looked out into a distant path and explained, “I would not say that we dated. I tried. Nicole’s grandfather is
acquainted with my grandfather. That was how I considered dating her, but we were only on the stage of getting to know each
other when she tried to put ideas into Liam’s head.”
“Was she the one who made Liam feel unwanted?” Scarlett sought, recalling how Liam asked her not to leave him one night.
Kaleb nodded and said, “She was the one. So there was never formally an us because I stopped communicating with her after
learning what she had been feeding into Liam’s head. I wanted to block her opportunities, but in consideration of my grandfather,
Imerely warned her about coming in contact with m e and my son.”
“I hate her now. How could she hurt Liam’s feelings?” Scarlett declared.
“If you hate her, I abhor her. I just could not dictate Dylan. She models under his agency, so he cannot
simply throw her out,” Kaleb described:
Scarlett took a deep breath and inquired, “Is it true, though? That I am different from the previous girls you have dated?”
Another grunt escaped Kaleb’s lips. He admitted, “I dated actresses in the past.”
“Wow. I really am different,” Scarlett remarked.
“If It makes you feel better, my family always disliked my choice of women before. I don’t know why that was the case, but being
with you now made me realize how those women were all wrong for me,” kaleb suggested.
Kaleb pulled Scarlett closer and professed, “Scarlett, you feel so right for me. None of my past matters. hope that whatever
Nicole said to you did not affect the way you feel about me – which, by the way, I still don’t know if you love me or you are just
using me for my body.”

He smirked.
Scarlett rolled her eyes. She countered, “I’m using you for your body.”
“Really? That’s strange because... you have had many opportunities, yet... you never fully used my body,” Kaleb reminded. “Yet,
you dare make a lie about having sex with me.”
Scarlett felt her ears burn. She wrinkled her nose and said, “I was trying to piss her off.”
“I’m sure you succeeded in pissing her off because I never touched her. Of course, she used to give me hints about how readily
available she was to have sex, but really, after Liam, I had been very careful about women.” He smirked and added, “You could
say... after all these years of celibacy, I have been virginized.”
“What?” Scarlett laughed thoroughly. She responded, “That doesn’t work that way.”
“You know, I learned a thing or two about your studying last night. I shall sue you for false pretenses,” Kaleb suggested, his
expression turned mischievous as he lowered his gaze to her.
“What? Why?” Scarlett asked, with brows raised, her heart facing as their faces inched closer to each other.
In a sensuous tone, Kaleb answered, “Because you lied about us having sex?”
“Uff! Please!” Scarlett exclaimed, her hands trying to push him away.
“I’m willing to accept a settlement, though,” Kaleb teased, his lips curving up into a sly grin.
Despite having an inkling of where their conversation was headed, Scarlett asked, “What settlement?”
“Since you claimed we had sex, we might as well... make it real.” Softly, he whispered, “You know... Liam i s still staying at my
brother’s house. We have... the entire penthouse to ourselves.”
“What do you say, kitten?” He asked. “You could really save me from a cold shower tonight.” Scarlett gulped.
