I Fell For The Boy His Daddy Was A Bonus

Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Someone Better
“Right here?” Scarlett said, her slender fingers massaging Kaleb’s sexy back.
“Yeah, right there,” Kaleb lazily replied, his back arching in her direction, his slender waist was on display for her
Scarlett swore, Kaleb’s voice was equally sinful. Even as he repeatedly groaned with her massage, Scarlett thought of them as
sexy moans.
She was sitting behind him on the living room sofa, relieving him from the ache of having carried her all the way up to his
penthouse.
“I think I have a slight headache too. Do you mind massaging my forehead?” Kaleb asked.
Who was she to say no? Of course, she agreed, cautiously. “Sure.”
Kaleb was quick to lay on his back that Scarlett retreated to the edge of the sofa, his head landing on her lap
Scarlett’s eyes beamed, seeing the fine curves of his chest. Kaleb was not buffed, but he had broad shoulders, a good amount of
muscles on his chest, all the way down to the sharp “V” on his abdomen. She wound up huffing and puffing at the sight of not just
a few, but six abdominal muscles.
It took all of her to look away, even just for a second. She gasped, saying, “Wait, let me get a pillow –”
“No. This is fine,” Kaleb said, his eyes closed as he settled comfortably on her lap, his sexy adam’s apple bobbing on his throat
I‘m going to die,‘ Scarlett concluded. Her heart was racing so fast that she worried about getting a heart attack. She never
imagined sexiness could kill.
Slowly, her fingers made their way to his forehead, but while she was massaging his head, her eyes often landed on his waist,
next, her pair of espresso orbs wandered to his undeniable bulge. She reflected on his size and whether he was wearing any
underwear.
I‘m so screwed,’ she thought inwardly.
Just as she was ogling at Kaleb‘s prize, she heard him clear his throat. When she looked down at him, she felt her face burn,
realizing how his eyes were now open, his gaze fixed on her. He said to her, ‘You seemed distracted.”

‘Oh, my god!‘ She berated herself for having been found out. She looked away, past the pieces of furniture and out into the
windows, saying, “Um... well, sort of.”
The next thing she felt was his hand, grasping her slender one. She heard him ask, “Scarlett, I know we don‘t know each other
that well yet, and I may not have the right to interfere with your life, but I was really worried when you asked me to hide you from
the couple the other day.”
His words prompted her to stare into his striking blue eyes. She sucked in a breath while listening to his revelation. He said, “I
had the two investigated, and I realized how you were intertwined with Luca James.”
There was a moment of silence before Kaleb rose to a sitting stance. His eyes remained glued to her as h e added, “I also
learned how you are the daughter of the Barnes –”
“I‘m not their daughter,” she cut him off. “At least in their view.”
“So.” In a weak voice, she asked, “So you have – you have probably watched the video? Why aren’t you disgusted of me?”
“Did you really do it?” Seeing how she lowered her gaze, Kaleb cupped her chin and urged her to look at him. He sought, “I want
to hear your side of the story.”
“Would you believe me?” She asked before looking away again.
“Hey.” This time, Kaleb reached for her hand. He suggested, “All I understood was they hurt you, and you were trying to fight for
what was yours. Whether or not you did it, it‘s part of your past. What matters to m e is whatever you do at present and in the
future.”
“It’s up to you. You don’t have to tell me –”
“I did not hurt her!” She blurted out. “The video was not complete. It was my office mate, Mina, who took the recording. If the
video had captured our exchange prior to that, it would clearly show how I only meant to throw the ring on Courtney.”
“The ring?” Kaleb asked, his head lending down to level with her.
Scarlett had to look him in the eye and explain everything. She narrated, “I found out how Luca was cheating on me with
Courtney. You see, Courtney worked at the law firm as Luca’s assistant. I did not like the idea, but my parents sold it to me in a
way that would land my place in their hearts.”

She felt her chest becoming heavy when she explained, “So I helped Courtney get the job, despite my dislike for her... because
even if my parents never showed me the same love, I – I still longed they would love me for I am their real daughter and not
Courtney.”
“But in the end, with Courtney spending time with Luca, they ended up together. I heard stories from colleagues at work about
how she would leave Luca‘s hotel room during business trips and how she stays late in his office, door closed and blinds down.
“I confronted Luca at first. He seemed torn and was very evasive. I even pleaded for my parents to help m e put some sense into
Courtney. Luca and I were engaged, after all, but my parents did not seem to care. My mother said that I should respect Luca‘s
choice. So, out of anger, I stormed into the law firm office and confronted Courtney.”
“I admit, I was a bitch back then. I called her names and let out all my anger for many years that I have resented her. I hated her
for making me look bad in front of my parents. That was how they always favored her.”
At that point, Scarlett could not help but be in tears, recalling Courtney‘s tricks and how her parents believed her all the time. She
carelessly wiped the wetness on her face before resuming, “But what I did not expect was for Luca to side with her too.”
“That day, after I confronted Courtney, Luca dragged me out of the office. He told me he chose Courtney over me and I saw how
she already had a ring on her finger.” Her voice raised as she revealed, “Of course I was upset! I honestly wanted to hurt
Courtney, but all I did was take out my engagement ring and threw i t in her face!”
“She then covers her face and when she removed her hand, she had a scratch on her cheek. I did not even touch her! I just
threw the ring at her. Then, she acted to be the victim. It was disgusting.“
“After that Luca slapped me.”
“He did what?” Kaleb asked, shocked at how Luca was capable of hitting a woman.
“It wasn’t recorded, of course, but he slapped me in the public,” Scarlett disclosed. “But that was all physical, you see. The real
pain was his betrayal. Luca was the last person I had. We grew up together. I had his back, and he had mine. I never expected
him to change just like that. He was everything to me and when he became my boyfriend, I honestly thought he was the one for
me.”
“I promise you, Scarlett, he was not the one meant for you,“ Kaleb interrupted, his voice strengthening, his

eyes narrowing. He wound up gripping her hand tightly as he reasoned, “You deserve someone better, someone who will take
care of you, give you the happiness that you deserve.”
Kaleb said it with such conviction, Scarlett was in awe. Then, Kaleb said, “Someone far more handsome, someone richer,
someone with great personality, of good character and a welcoming family.”
When Kaleb saw how Scarlett raised a brow, clearly perplexed, he hinted, “Someone who owns a Knight x V?”
He leaned back, flaunting his godly assets. His hands stroking his hair, his eyes seductively looking at her.
Seeing Kaleb make a striking pose, Scarlett turned tomato red, her ears burning from the sudden excitement in her chest. ‘Did
he just... offered himself?‘
