Hunger Awaits

Chapter 13

Matto's POV

I had started the long drive to the airport to pick up Kendra. I couldn't wait to hold her again. I checked the time, as I exited the freeway and turned towards the airport terminal. Her plane would be arriving in about ten minutes so that gave me just enough time to park the car and make it to the gate. I parked and head inside, as I walked in I saw a small stand with some roses. I picked up a dozen of them and paid then headed to the gate to meet Kendra. I walked up as people started to unload from the plane. I stood there for about fifteen minutes until I saw the crew walking off and they closed the door behind them. She never got off the plane. I walked up to one of the stewardess. "Excuse me. Is this the ten am flight from Seattle?" I asked her. She nodded.

"Yes, sir. Is there a problem?" I didn't know if there was, maybe she changed her mind.

"Well I was expecting someone, but they never got off the plane." She looked at me with a concerned look on her face.

"I'm sorry sir, but that is every one that got on the plane. We always do a sweep before we exit the plane."

I nodded and thanked her then walked back out to the car. I pulled out my phone and tried to call her cell phone, but it was turned off. What is going on? I thought to myself. Did she change her mind? No, she sounded so excited when I talked to her this morning. Plus she was already at the airport. Something wasn't right. I sat in my truck for a few minutes watching the front of the terminal hoping maybe I had just missed her. After another thirty minutes, I knew she wasn't here. I was just about to try and call her again when my phone rang. "Hello, Kendra?" A woman's voice came across full of confusion.

"No, this is Audrey. Why would you ask if I was Kendra? Isn't she there with you?" Damn, now I knew something was wrong.

"No, she didn't get off the plane. I am sitting at the airport now." I heard a gasp come from the other side of the phone.

"Matto, Paxton dropped her off at the airport hours ago. She was so excited to be going back to you. Something is wrong."

I took a deep breath and knew what I had to do. "Ok listen to me, Audrey. I am catching the next flight out to you. I will find her. I have to go back home real quick and grab some things but I should be there either tonight or tomorrow." I could hear the fear in her voice.

"Ok, please hurry. What if Ryker has her? I don't think they have caught him yet." I already was thinking that and knew I had to move quickly. Ryker was unstable and I didn't know what he would do to her.

"I'm on my way. I think I am going to bring my brothers with me for help. We work better as a team." She agreed and said that we could all stay with her and the other two that had been with Kendra when they were here. I agreed and told her to call me if she heard anything. We hung up and I ran back inside.

I approached the ticket counter. The young woman smiled at me as I walked up. "How can I help you, sir?" I smiled back to be polite.

"When is the next flight to Seattle?" She typed a few things on the computer.

"It leaves at six tonight and arrives in Seattle at midnight. Can I get you a ticket?" I nodded.

"Yes, I actually need three." I gave her all the info and handed her my bank card. She printed the tickets and handed everything to me. I thanked her and head back to my truck. I looked at the time and realized I only had three hours to get back here. The drive back and forth was an hour each way so I had to move fast. I got on the freeway and floored it the whole way back to the resort. On the way, I called Jace and Koda and told them what was going on. They arranged our excuse for work and had everything ready for us when I arrived.

I pulled into our driveway and hopped out of the truck. Jace and Koda were waiting for me. "Do you think it is Ryker?" Koda asked. I nodded and walked past him into my room. I grabbed a few things from my room and walked back out to the truck. Tenaya was hugging Koda goodbye when I came out. She stopped me.

"She is going to be ok. She is very strong." She said to me. I gave her a thank you look and got into the truck with the boys. We drove in silence all knowing what we might have to do to save Kendra. I knew that I could, especially since I thought I had done it already.

"When we find her I will be the one to take out Ryker if it is him that has her," I said finally. I kept my eyes on the road, but I could feel my brother's eyes on me. Finally, Jace spoke up.

"You don't have to kill him, Matto. There are other ways to deal with him legally." I laughed.

"Do you think I haven't thought of that? He is dangerous and has already escaped and killed two officers. They can't handle him especially if he is so obsessed with Kendra."

Silence fell again and I knew they agreed with me. It didn't matter if they agreed or not anyway. I was alpha and they had to follow my orders. I had never tried to force my role on them before, but if I had to I would. I needed to protect them and Kendra, even though I knew that they had my back I still felt the need to keep them all safe. We got to the airport with thirty minutes left until our flight left. I parked in the long term parking garage and we grabbed our things and headed into the airport. By the time we made it through security and to our gate, the plane was loading. We boarded the plane and took our seats. I checked my phone and saw a text from Audrey. She had just said that she hadn't heard anything yet and then had her address. I text back quickly telling her when we were due to arrive then turned my phone off. I sat back in my seat with Koda and Jace next to me and prayed that I would get to her in time.

Kendra's POV

I stood in disbelief staring at Ryker. "Why are you here Ryker? I thought that the fact that I put you in jail was enough of a hint to you. Obviously, I was wrong. So let me spell it out for you. I AM DONE! Now leave me alone." I tried to push past him and get to the bathroom door, but he wasn't budging. He put his hand on my shoulder and shoved me against the wall. His eyes were a color I had never seen. They were a yellowish color, and his heart was racing and his body was scolding to the touch.

"Don't piss me off Kendra. Now we are going for a nice walk out to my car. Then we are going somewhere no one will ever find us. Do you understand?" The look in his eyes was so sinister that I knew not to fight back with him right now. I nodded my head and he grabbed my arm and lead me out the bathroom.

Of course his two stupid friends Hunter and Chase were standing right outside the door. I knew that I had to try and make sure Matto would be able to find me, but how? Would he even come or would he think I changed my mind? Then I remembered that I promised Audrey I would call as soon as I landed. If I didn't she would call Matto looking for me. Then he will know for sure something is wrong. I tried to think of something to do but all I could think of was to drop something of mine. I had a hair tie on my wrist so I nonchalantly dropped it behind us, as I was lead out the airport and to Ryker's blue mustang parked right outside. I didn't know what else to do from here. I knew that once I was in that car it would make it harder for Matto to find me. We approached the car and Ryker opened the door. "Get in the back." He ordered in a stern voice making me jump a little. I saw the smirk on his face as I climbed in. Then Chase got in next to me.

We drove for what seemed like hours. This was all new to me. I had no idea where we were only that it was nothing but trees and forest for as far as you could see. If I wasn't been kidnapped right now I would think it was absolutely beautiful. I knew that I had to bid my time and stay cool if I wanted to make it out of this. My heart hurt as I thought about Matto waiting for me to get off the plane. How upset he would be and worried once Audrey called him. Finally, Ryker turned down a small secluded dirt road and followed it up to a small run-down cabin. I wonder if this is where they had all lived before he met me. We came to a stop in front of the cabin and I was ordered to get out. My foot got caught in the seatbelt, as I tried to climb out from the backseat. I guess I was taking to long for Chase so he snatched me by my hair and dragged me out.

I had yelled out in pain as he had grabbed my hair and tossed me to the ground like a rag doll. I was about to say something smart but, as I turned to get up I saw Ryker pinning Chase against the car. "If you ever fucking hurt her again I will kill you. Do I make myself clear?" Chase looked down and nodded. Even in their human form, these boys followed his orders. It made me sick. Ryker released Chase then came over and helped me up. "Did he hurt you baby?" He asked as he picked me up of the ground. The vile in the pit of my stomach worked its way up my throat at the mere sound of him calling me baby. I wanted to gag at first but then I got angry. I pulled away from his grip.

"Don't call me baby. I'm not your fucking baby, girlfriend or boo. Now get away from me. I came with you that doesn't mean that I want anything to do with you." I spit out at him. I immediately regretted it as the back of his hand connected to my cheek. I felt a little blood form on my lip.

I didn't back down though. I was tired of being helpless and I wasn't going to take his shit anymore. I stared back at him then spit my blood in his face. I braced myself for another smack across the face but it didn't come. Instead, Ryker was laughing. "So you've grown some balls, have you. That's good I like a challenge. Hunter, take our guest to the room and make her comfortable." By the tone in his voice, I knew that I was going to be anything but comfortable. Hunter took my arm and lead me into the cabin. He took me to a small bedroom in the back of the house. When he opened the door I was sure I was going to die here. There was an old twin mattress on the floor next to the wall, as I looked at the wall I saw the chains attached to it. I tried to kick Hunter and run, but I guess he knew what I was going to do. Before I could even lift my leg to kick him I felt a small prick in my neck. Then the room started to spin and I fell forward into his arms as the darkness consumed me.
