Cameron, Anastasia, and his attendants entered. Lily was shocked to see them, exclaiming, "Secretary Rollins?!"
When everyone got to their feet, she looked over her shoulder at Alexander. She thought he must have known about Cameron's visit, and it was highly likely that Alexander had arranged it.
As she expected, Alexander smiled meaningfully at his wife. He then approached Cameron to welcome him. "Thank you so much for coming."
"Well, it's my duty. Anyway, let's dispense with formalities." Cameron gestured for everyone to sit down."
After getting someone to serve some tea, Alexander ensured the others left them alone.
Although Olivia and Edward knew what was happening, the fewer people knew about the details of their discussion, the better.
"It must've been tough for you guys." Cameron held a teacup and glanced around before looking at
Lily. "Especially for you."
"Tough luck, I guess," Lily shrugged, getting uneasy. If she had a choice, she would not have wanted any of this to happen to her.
Cameron smiled and said, "Don't be nervous. I'm only here to tell you the government's decision."
Anastasia held Lily's arm and said enthusiastically, "Yeah, you're something else, Lily. Dad only meant to compliment you."
She was thrilled that Lily was safe and sound, especially after not seeing her for a long time.
"I know," Lily smiled, patting her hand. "You seem to be in good shape and have lost a lot of weight."
"Well, all the credit goes to you and him." Anastasia glanced toward Austin. "I only managed to recover so well because he helped adjust the prescription and cured my infection." Surprised, Austin smiled in embarrassment. "I'm glad I was able to help."
"All right, now's not the time for catching up. Tasia, leave us for a moment," Cameron said after clearing his throat. He did not want his daughter to get too involved.
However, after finding out about Lily's return, Anastasia insisted on tagging along. Since she had promised her father to do as he said, she stood up and said, "I'll talk to you later, Lily." Lily nodded, curious about what Cameron was about to say.
"Tasia," Alexander suddenly stopped her. "Feel free to use the guest room upstairs. Would you mind telling Mike to come down?"
