Chapter 0084
She glanced at the man with disgust. Don't get her wrong, she didn't hate men seeing and loving each, heck, she loved it, but it was the fact that Edward had a wife that disgusted her. Closing the file, she handed it to Duncan and said. "I guess people like you, don't like to be pleased by their woman."
Edward's eyes narrowed. "Excuse you?"
"Jasper won't be coming back, not while I'm here, so I suggest you don't that delusional thought of yours and fall in line, else, you'd be joining him in his little vacation." Edward opened his mouth, ready to retort, but Amara cut him short. "You may take your leave."
Without saying another word, she turned and walked away, leaving behind Edward who didn't look the least bit happy.
A humiliation like this, he could not accept and must do something.
Only then would they be even.
Melanie was glad when Amara called her, requesting they go shopping.
Amara had said she needed to go shopping for a new dress, but Melanie knew that was just her excuse to hang out with her.
So, without hesitation, she agreed to the shopping spree.
"An auction?" She asked as they walked into the mall, looking through the stores as they made their way deeper in.
"Yeah," Amara nodded. "Maria wants the 'Empress Heart' necklace, and he wants me to purchase it and send it over."
"Maria?" Melanie inquired.
Amara nodded. "Yes, she's," She paused, recalling that Lorenzo had not made his engagement public yet. Neither did Melanie know about her family's background.
The thought caused momentarily guilt to swell in her chest. But she pushed it back with a smile.
"A childhood friend."
"Huh? I thought I was your only childhood friend?"
"She goes way back. We lost contact after my parent's accident. She only reached out a few months ago."
"Oh," Something about what Amara said didn't settle with Melanie, but she chose to swallow it without questioning. "So, what type of dress are you going for?" She asked as they walked into the store Amara wanted to get a dress from. The clerk at the store, instantly rushed to them, bowing as a form of greeting.
"Good day, Ma'am. What shall I assist you with today?"
"A dress." Melanie answered for her friend, pointing at her to emphasize. "For one."
The clerk scanned Amara's body type, smiled and nodded. "Right this way, Ma'am." She led them both to a private room.
After pouring a glass of wine, she informed. "This is the catalogue, please look through it and indicate the dresses you like so I'll have a model showcase it for you."
Amara nodded and went through the catalogue, sticking the tab of the dresses she liked on the page.
"This would do." She said after having picked five dresses that caught her eyes.
The clerk nodded and retrieved the catalogue. "Your model will be here soon, please enjoy the refreshment." With that, she was gone.
"The auction is this week Friday, right?"
Amara nodded as she sipped on her wine.
"And you've got a partner to go with you?"
She paused. "A partner?"
Melanie's brows furrowed. "Were you planning on going alone?"
"I wasn't planning on going with anyone."
Melanie nearly face palmed.
"That's unacceptable. A single woman like you can't walk into an auction alone. You'll quickly become the gist the day, not the auction And besides, you'll need someone to escort you in and out, it's only right that you have someone by your side."
Amara knew Melanie was right. However, she didn't have the slightest clue on who she could invite to come with her.
The only men she had in mind were Helios and... Tobias.
She couldn't go with Helios because she had downright turned him down and Tobias...
Once again, a bitter taste settled in the back of her throat. However, before she had the chance to think it too much, there was a knock on the door, indicating that her model had arrived.

"Come in." Melanie answered for her and the door clicked open.
Amara was still engrossed in her thoughts when she heard the sound of footsteps approaching and the sound of Melanie's breath hitching.
She looked up, wanting to see why her friend was so stunned, but instead, she was met with the same shock.
For before her, stood none other than Celestine, dressed in the very first dress she had picked.
"Hello Amara," She greeted with a
smile, and the next words that left her lips, were the ones that ultimately told Amara that the rest of her shopping spree were doomed for good. "I'm your model for today." She curtsey. "Treat me right."
