Chapter 3: Invading Dreams
Kasey
“Kasey?” Maximus asked.
Damn.
“What’s up?” I asked into my ear piece.
“Where are you?”
“Checking on my family.”
“Okay.” Maximus sighed. “You need to hurry it up.”
“I will, but this is the first time in three years that I have seen them.” I stated.
“I know, just make it quick.”
Once I knew that Sammy and Timmy were sleeping, I quietly opened their window and crawled in.
I smiled as they both let out little snores. They were always snorers.
“I’ve missed you two so much.” I whispered sadly. “I’ll be right back.”
I made my way out of their room and walked down the hall to my parents’ room.
I opened the door and saw them both cuddled up sleeping.
I closed my eyes and went in their dreams.
Really mom? Of course you would be reading outside.
I looked over and saw my dad grilling.
“Those smell good.” I smiled as I appeared next to him.
“Kasey!” My dad yelled as he dropped the spatula and pulled me into a hug. “Carrie!”
My mom looked up and covered her mouth in shock.
She then dropped her book and ran over to me.
“Kasey.” My mom cried as she hugged me.
“I missed you guys.” I said as I felt a tear of my own fall down my cheek.
“I can’t believe you’re really here.” My dad whispered.
“Well it is your dream.” I laughed.
“That’s good enough for me.”
“How have you guys been?” I asked as I pulled back.
My mom sighed. “We’ve been getting along.”
“You guys do know that I’m always with you right?”
My dad nodded. “It’s just not the same without you here. We miss you.”
“I miss you too. But you guys can’t stay sad forever.” I smiled. “You’ll see me again.”
“Haley misses you too.” My mom spoke up.
I took a shaky breath at hearing my best friend’s name.
“H-how is she?” I asked.
“Not good.” My mom said. “She misses you so much. She visits your grave every day. We see here there all the time when we go.”
I sighed. “I wish she would stop being sad. Actually all of you guys need to stop being sad.”
“Your brother and sister are taking it hard too. We pass their room and hear them talking about how much they miss you.” My dad explained with a pained expression.
“Like I said, I’m with you guys every day. Don’t forget that.” I smiled as I gave them one last hug. “It’s almost morning. I will come visit again sometime.”
“Kasey don’t go.” My mom pleaded.
I smiled as I wiped a tear away from her eye. “I will come back mom. I promise. You can’t get rid of me that easily.”
She slowly nodded and gave me a hug.
“We will always love you.” My dad said as he hugged me tightly.
“I love you guys too.” I smiled as I pulled back. “And dad, I’ve been watching. It’s okay to not be strong sometimes. You can let your emotions out. You have this whole family.”
My dad nodded. “I just want to be strong for them.”
“And that’s okay.” I said as I wiped his tears too. “But it’s also okay to let your emotions show. You can lean on them too.”
My dad nodded.
I smiled and kissed both of their cheeks. “I will come back and visit again.”
They nodded and waved as I disappeared.
I popped out of their dream and looked at them sleeping.
I smiled as they both had smiles on their faces.
Time for the siblings.
I walked out and slipped back into Sammy’s and Timmy’s room.
“Time to see what you guys are up too.” I whispered.
I smiled as I closed my eyes and went into their dreams.
I opened my eyes and saw that I was sitting in a tree.
“Nice catch Sammy!” Timmy smiled.
I looked up and watched them play catch. I smiled as Buster was rolling around in the grass.
“Nice throw Timmy.” I shouted as I jumped down from the tree.
They both turned around and saw me.
Buster shot up and ran towards me.
“Kasey!” They yelled.
I laughed as Buster started to lick all over my face.
“Hey guys.” I smiled as I sat up with Buster still in my lap.
Oof!
“Sorry Kasey.” Sammy and Timmy said laughing as they got off of me.
“We just miss you.” Sammy said as she and Timmy sat down next to me.
“I miss you guys too.” I smiled as I wrapped my arms around them. “How are you guys?”
“Good.” Timmy smiled. “We are going to visit your grave in the morning.”
“Ooh. I’ll be excited to see you.” I smiled as I kissed both of their heads.
“Why are you wearing that costume?” Sammy asked as she pointed to my armor and wings.
I laughed. “It’s not a costume.”
“It’s not?” Sammy asked.
“Are you really an angel?” Timmy asked excited.
I nodded. “I’m a guardian angel actually.”
“That is so cool!” They yelled.
“Is that actual gold?” Sammy asked as she touched it.
I laughed and nodded. “And actual silver. My sword, staff, and dagger are made out of silver.”
“Can I see?” Timmy asked.
I nodded and stood up.
I first took out my sword and dagger.
“That’s awesome!” They smiled.
“Where’s your staff at?” Sammy asked.
I laughed and put my sword and dagger away.
I reached behind me and pulled my staff out.
“Are those gems?” Timmy asked amazed.
I nodded. “A ruby and sapphire.”
“It’s so cool!” Timmy smiled as I put it away.
“I want to tell you guys something.” I said as they stood up.
“What’s that?” Sammy asked.
“I want you guys to know that I will always be here for you. Don’t think for one second that I am not. I am watching over you guys every second of every day.” I said sternly.
“You’re our guardian angel.” Timmy smiled.
I smiled right back. “Exactly. I am your guys’ guardian angel. That means that I am with you two all the time. I will always protect you guys and mom and dad.”
“That makes me feel so much better Kasey.” Sammy said as she wrapped her arms around my waist.
“Me too.” Timmy smiled as he copied Sammy.
I hugged them back. “It’s almost morning so that means that you guys will need to wake up soon.”
“But we don’t want you to go.” Sammy said worriedly.
“What did I tell you before?” I laughed.
“That you are always with us.” Sammy repeated.
I nodded. “Exactly. I will come visit you guys soon.”
“Okay.” Timmy said. “We love you.”
“I love you two squirts.” I smiled as I kissed the top of their heads. “Now when you guys wake up, there is a present under both of your pillows. That present will remind you that I am always there for you and you guys are never alone.”
They nodded and waved as I started to disappear.
Once I was out of their dreams, I turned invisible and stood in the corner of their room.
Sammy woke up and started to rub her eyes as Timmy slowly woke up as well.
“I had the best dream.” Sammy smiled. “You were there.”
“Same here.” Timmy said. “Kasey came and visited us.”
“Kasey!” Sammy yelled as she shoved her hands under her pillow.
“The present.” Timmy said as he did the same thing too.
I smiled as they both pulled out a box.
“A box?” Timmy asked confused.
“Well you have to open it weirdo.” Sammy laughed.
“Oh right.” Timmy smiled.
They opened their presents and both pulled out a necklace.
“What did you get?” Sammy asked.
“A necklace.” Timmy said as he held it up. “You?”
“Same thing.” Sammy said. “Wait. Let me see yours.”
Timmy stood up and walked over.
Sammy grabbed his necklace and put them together.
“We each got a wing.” Sammy smiled. “And when you put them together, it makes a full set.”
“Kasey.” Timmy smiled as he put it on. “Our guardian angel.”
“She’s always with us.” Sammy smiled as she put on her necklace.
I watched as they walked out of the room.
Time to head back.
