Heroes Without A Plan

Chapter Chapter Three: Hexenhaus

Despite their confusion, the three continued on until they reached the forest. It became quite windy, and the night air chilled the three heroes as they followed the path.

Alyssa began to ask impatiently where they were going. “Why, are we so restless? Don’t worry, we’re almost there,” Agatha quickened her pace, twisting and turning through the never-ending forest.

“I’ll bet she’ll put us in a cage and have us for dinner! Crazy old hag.” Alyssa whispered to Eliot after a few more minutes.

Eventually, they came to a small hut surrounded by thick trees that hugged the structure on all sides. Badly in need of renovation, it looked as old as the witch. The pale yellow paint was peeling, and the stone steps leading up to the door were ancient and rickety.

“We’re here, heroes!”Agatha announced as she opened the door to her hut. “Sorry for the chaos, I didn’t expect to see you so soon!” She commented lightly as she walked in. There were a number of old books and other miscellaneous items scattered about the various floors and bookshelves, and in the back of the small hut was a large cauldron and a fireplace. It truly resembled a witch’s cottage.

Agatha motioned to the couch in the center of the room, and they made their way to it. After all three were seated, she asked, “So what are your names, heroes?” And after they introduced themselves, they began to pepper her with questions. She just smiled at them.

“There’s a fable, written by a seer. About heroes who come to save our planet, Solia! And you are those heroes! Who knew that it would only take 100 years to come true?”

“Stop talking nonsense!”Alyssa was on her feet, clearly in denial. Eliot stood up as well and tried to reassure the woman, but it didn’t really help as she began to glower at the poor man with daggers.

“You will be the greatest hero in the world! And I’ll be your teacher,” Agatha said, “Since it’s late, we’ll start tomorrow.”

“Wow, wait a minute! You’re going to train us?” Eliot asked.

“That’s what I just said!!! Listen, will ya?” Eliot lowered his head in apology.

The three of them completely denied the whole situation, they wanted to go home. None of them laughed at whatever the joke was. But the later the evening came, the more weary the trio became from all the shenanigans. They decided to sleep on it. They would figure out this crazy phenomenon in the morning.
