Chapter 262
Chapter 262
Product launch...
Angeline's expression turned grim when she heard the words.
After pondering a moment, she replied candidly, “It's not difficult, but what are you trying to achieve?”
Jonathan's finger tapped on the glass in an irregular rhythm as he kept her in suspense.
“A scheme loses its intrigue once it's revealed. You might as well wait with anticipation for it.”
His words elicited a light chuckle from Angeline, as she couldn't help but be amazed at how cautious he was.
By choosing to hide it even from me, does he think that I'll wreck his plan?
However, the more secretive someone was, the more cause there was for concern.
“Fine. I don't need to know, but remember, I'm not going to do anything for free.”
Angeline spoke in a firm yet professional tone as she negotiated the terms.
Since Jonathan was keeping things from her. there was no need for her to be particularly considerate. After all, they were
nothing more than just business partners.
Even though she was open to collaborating with him and providing him support, safeguarding her own interests remained her
priority.
Given how shrewd both parties were, Jonathan let out a reciprocal laugh as he raised his glass to clink with hers.
In a relaxed tone, he reassured her, “Don't worry. I'm well aware of the rules of the game and share the same goal as you.
Besides, you can expand your- business network further through the product launch. What's there not to be happy about?”
His words struck a chord with Angeline. After- analyzing it in her mind, she agreed with his assessment.
Now tliat her concerns were allayed, she raised her glass at him.
“In tliat case... To a successful partnership!”
Angeline couldn't deny that her collaboration with Jonathan was a fruitful one so far.
Despite his usually nonchalant attitude, he was a crafty man who seemed to be driven by a mysterious force.
Ever since he thoroughly investigated tire internal matters of Golding Group, she knew there was more to him than met the eye.
In fact, she figured that he was probably someone more powerful than she could even imagine.
It was just tliat she was under Evander's protection back then, hence the lack of fear.
However, now that she had lost that privilege, she had to tread carefully, given the inevitable increase in collaboration
opportunities between them.
In addition, she endeavored to find out more about his background when she had the opportunity.
Upon leaving the cafe, Angeline headed to the supermarket to buy some fresh ingredients, which she used to cook a few simple
dishes and make some cartoon-based cakes.
The doctor informed her that Sebastian's condition had improved and that he no longer needed to stick to liquid food. Therefore,
Angeline decided to use the opportunity to broaden the scope of his diet.
When Angeline arrived at the hospital, Sebastian's psychologist, Anna Bearbock, had just finished their counseling session. She
was sitting by his bedside drawing together with him.
“Hello. Ms. Sorelie.”
The sound of approaching footsteps caused Arma to look up before greeting Angeline with a smile.
“Hi, Dr. Bearbock. I brought Sebastian some food. Did he give you any trouble?”
Angeline entered the ward and placed the heavy lunch box on the table.
Anna, who had gotten to her feet, stuffed her hands in the pockets of her white lab coat while her eyes glistened warmly.
“Not at all. Sebastian is exceptionally obedient, and I'm very fond of him.”
“I'm glad to hear that. Thank you for all that you've done.” Angeline sighed in relief.
Ever since she left Evander, Angeline rej ected all his help except for Anna's service, an indication of her confidence in the
latter's capabilities.
Anna was bom of mixed parentage, hence her- exquisite features. Nonetheless, she spoke fluent Chanaean, as she was raised
in Chanaea by her grandmother.
More importantly, she started studying psychology during her last few years of high school and even graduated from the same
university as Evander-. Thus, she was extremely proficient in medicine.
When Angeline did some digging into Anna's background, she was shocked by the fees Anna charged for her medical expertise.
If Evander hadn't settled the bill upfront, she would never have been able to afford the latter's services.
However, all those were of secondary importance. What mattered was that Sebastian responded to the treatment well, while his
autism gradually took a turn for the better.
The thought brought a sense of gratification to Angeline as she opened the lunch box and brought out all the food and cakes she
made.
“Dr. Bearbock, I've prepared extra for you. If you haven't eaten, you're welcome to try my cooking.”
“Sure. I've been looking forward to it after hearing the others sing your- praises.”
Wearing a gentle smile, Anna picked up a small cake and stuffed it into her mouth.
“Mmm, it's delicious.”
She flashed Angeline a thumbs-up with a satisfied look on her face.
“With such amazing cooking skills, it's no wonder you won Evander's heart. Why didn't you start a restaurant?”
When Anna inadvertently brought up Evander's name. Angeline's expression took a grim turn.
“Oops, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that.”
Anna covered her mouth with her hands while her eyes had an apologetic look in them.
“It's okay.” Angeline tried to laugh off the matter.
Nevertheless, it wasn't the first time Anna had mentioned Evander on purpose.
She seemed to be particularly close to Evander during their university days and would often mention him in their conversations.
Despite the suspicions she harbored, Angeline didn't reveal any of it. Instead, she began to feed Sebastian with a small bowl she
had brought.
After eating a few mouthfuls, Sebastian suddenly stared at the bowl and murmured, “Girl... Girl...”
His words filled Angeline with astonishment, and her eyes lit up in delight.
“Sebastian, did you just speak?”
With blushing cheeks, Sebastian gathered the courage to tug at Angeline's sleeve and stare at her hopefully.
It was then tliat Anna walked up to Angeline and spoke with a solemn tone.
“Actually, this isn't the first time he has spoken, but every time he did, he would only manage to say the word 'girl.' Do you know
of any other child he has played with whom he is close to?”
The question triggered the image of Floretta to appear in Angeline's mind, causing a bitter glint to flash across her eyes.
“Yes, there's one. I can guess who he's referring to.”
“That's good. From his reaction, he seems to care a lot about this little girl.”
Angeline was stumped for words.
After observing the former's expression, Anna added in an earnest tone, “Now that Sebastian's condition has improved
significantly, you should arrange for him to see the girl. It would definitely aid in his emotional recovery.”
This time, Angeline kept mum for a long time as a conflicted look appeared in her eyes.
Sebastian isn't alone in his feelings. I miss Floretta a lot and think of her every single day! But what can I do? Given the current
state of my relationship with Evander, going to the Golding residence to see Floretta is no different from humiliating myself!
