Chapter 23
Chapter 23 Missing Important Information
Celia struggled in the air, desperately protesting. “What are you doing? There are so many people watching, put me down!”
Dominic’s cold gaze met her, and he retorted, “Do you hate me that much?”
Celia couldn’t help but let out a laugh, “If someone unexpectedly hoisted you up. wouldn’t you fight back?”
The words immediately darkened Dominic’s expression. “Celia, how dare you to speak to me like that?” No longer intimidated by his authority, Celia shot back, “Who do you think you are? I dare speak my mind!”
Leon stood anxiously by their side, perplexed by the sudden change. He thought Dominic must be furious by now.
At that moment, Dominic regained his composure and calmly announced, “T need to discuss something with you.”
Leon and Celia were both perplexed. Dominic’s attitude had abruptly changed, making it seem as though the enraged man from earlier wasn’t him all. They exchanged startled looks as they pondered what had happened.
Celia had mentally prepared herself for reustance but now felt uneasy as Dominic softened.
Seizing the opportunity, Dominic smoothly carried Celia out of the restaurant.
Some waiters, noting Celia being carried away, considered intervening but were deterred by Dominic’s accompanying bodyguard.
Celia regained her composure and quickly signaled to the waiters, reassuring them that there was no need to be concerned. However, she couldn’t help but be
wary
of her own situation, considering Dominic’s high standing in the city.
Additionally, Celia was curious about his intentions and what he had planned.
As Dominic effortlessly carried her into the car and seated her in the passenger seat, Celia prepared to speak, but he abruptly leaned in to kiss her before she could utter a word.
The familiar taste and scent of his tongue made it difficult for her to resist.
Celia felt speechless as she struggled to break free from his embrace. “Is this the reason behind all of this?” She managed to say, her words muffled by his lips.
And her protests were quickly silenced once again.
Initially, Dominic may have intended to punish her, but he couldn’t help but become tender.
When Celia regained control of her slightly shaky breathing and firmly grabbed. his hand, he slowly released his lips and was about to deepen the kiss. “Enough! Stop right now!”
Celia didn’t bother mentioning Grace to try and stop Dominic, as she suspected that Grace couldn’t truly control him. Otherwise, why would he be here?
She sensed that Dominic was growing angry again.
Dominic looked at her coldly, “Celia, you don’t like me kiss you like that?”
His cold gaze made her feel like he could snap at any moment if she even nodded.
“Nope,” Celia responded directly. She didn’t have anything against Dominic but was confused by his behavior.
After all, they had been together for ten years, and a simple kiss shouldn’t be at big deal.
Dominic’s expression softened slightly, but he still looked burdened. “Then,
you…
Celia was confused. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. You can leave now,” Dominic said indifferently, abruptly pushing her
away.
Celia looked puzzled as she pondered what was happening. She wondered if Dominic suddenly lost interest after kissing her.
She opened the car door and stepped out of the car.
Dominic struggled to control his anger, unsure of why he had to endure this situation. He knew he might not hear the anticipated answer if he asked her.
Dominic had come to the realization that he may make mistakes. Otherwise, Celia wouldn’t totally ignore him now and even choose to be with another man.
He sighed deeply, unable to grasp why he suddenly became so indecisive.
Just as Dominic was about to leave, the car door closest to him unexpectedly swung open. Standing at the doorway, Celia calmly said, “You need to explain
Setting
yourself.”
Dominic stared at her, his gaze becoming serious in an instant.
Celia had planned to leave directly after stepping out of the car. But after taking a few steps, a feeling of unease began to settle in her heart. She could stay away from Dominic, but it would be too much for her to handle if he treated her like a doll.
Honestly, she had never seen this side of Dominic, full of hesitation. She couldn’t help but seize the opportunity and walk over.
In a cold tone, Dominic spoke, “Do you really want to know?”
Celia furrowed her brow tightly. “What happened to you? When did you become.
like this?”
“I will tell
you, but
but you have to promise me one thing,” Dominic said.
Celia frowned. “Is this some kind of game or trick, Dominic? What kind of game are you playing?”
She couldn’t comprehend why Dominic was being so secretive and why she had to make a promise. She thought it was unfair to her.
Dominic calmly stated, “You can go now.”
Celia’s mouth twitched slightly. “Whatever. He only has had one request,” She thought.
“I must make it clear that if it goes against my principles or is illegal or immoral, I absolutely won’t keep my promise.”
She didn’t want to engage in anything contradicting her principles, such as sleeping with him.
Finally, Dominic cut to the chase. “Okay.”
Celia felt a wave of relief, eagerly awaiting Dominic to disclose something significant.
Slowly, Dominic spoke, “Didn’t you see my text message?”
“Your text?” Celia was taken aback, quickly realizing, “Did you text me? I changed my number, so I didn’t receive your message.”
Dominic fell silent.
Chapter 23 Missing Important Information
“What is it exactly? Just tell me directly. It can’t be solely about this, can it? Did I miss some crucial information?” Celia felt extremely perplexed. She wondered what important information he had texted her.
When she returned home, she planned to search for that SIM card to unravel the mystery.
Seeming to see through her, Dominic immediately said, “It’s not something of utmost importance. You don’t need to bother to look for it. It was simply an invitation to this restaurant. I didn’t actually expect you to come.”
However, she had brought along an extra person who seemed to infuriate Dominic.
Celia stopped in her tracks, then suddenly brightened up.
“So, you thought I stood you up?” Celia exclaimed. “I didn’t.”
If she had seen that message, she would have declined directly, avoiding this big misunderstanding.
To her surprise, Dominic’s mood instantly improved, and his tone became gentle. “I believe you.”
Seeing him like this, Celia quickly asked, “So, you were angry earlier because of this? You thought I stood you up because of Jayden?”
Considering Dominic’s personality, it made sense for him to be angry, as he had. never been stood up before.
Celia hadn’t considered that her actions would make him jealous since she wasn’t that self–centered, and even Dominic himself hadn’t expected to feel jealous. He simply responded coldly, “Remember to inform me promptly when you change your phone number in the future.”
