Goodbye Cheater Hello CEO’s Wife by Payne Walter

Chapter CHAPTER 53

Chapter 53

A low, mellow voice echoed by isabella’s ear. “Do you miss me?”

Her heart suddenly felt at ease in her sleep. She replied honestly, “Yes.”

“Good girl.” Alight chuckle followed.

Isabella squirmed from the tickles

as a gentle kiss landed near her ear.

Clayton encircled her waist to stop Isabella from curling up. She leaned against him and murmured, “You’re so warm. I’m sleepy. I’m going to

sleep now.”

“All right. Go to sleep. I’m back, you can rest easy now.” His low voice seemed to have a hypnotic effect.

Isabella drifted into sleep peacefully and didn’t have any dreams all night.

The sleep made up for the past few restless nights where she hadn’t slept well since Clayton left. She stretched lazily under the blanket and froze when she felt the emptiness beside her.

She was sure that Clayton had returned and felt his presence last night.

Isabella’s heart tightened. It wasn’t a dream last night. He must have returned. If not, did something have happened to him?” she wondered.

She sat up abruptly, rushing out of bed, and headed straight to Clayton’s study. However, no one was there.

Nor there was anyone in the living room.

She stood at the study door, and her heart sank.

“Are you looking for me?” A low, amused voice echoed from the dining room.

Isabella turned in surprise. The well–dressed Clayton was sitting at the dining table, smiling at her.

She ran over, stood in front of him, took a deep breath, and smiled dazedly.

Clayton looked at her dotingly. “Good morning, Mrs. Murray”

Isabella came back to her senses and felt genuinely happy.

Clayton sized her up and suddenly stopped smiling. “Go put on your shoes.”

“Okay.” Isabella obediently complied and returned to the bedroom to put on her shoes.

On the table was her favorite breakfast, indicating that Kayson had already been there

Clayton sat still in his chair. He patted the chair beside him, signaling Isabella to sit, and the fatter complied obediently.

He rested his hand on her head and sighed softly.

“What’s wrong?” Isabella looked at Clayton in confusion with her clear eyes.

The latter hugged her gently, “With you, I have the whole world.”

Isabella felt the joy in her heart blooming like big, beautiful flowers. At that moment, there were no second thoughts in her heart. She wanted to enjoy the feeling now.

“Let’s have breakfast,” Clayton suggested

“Aren’t you eating?” Isabella glanced at him while eating.

“I’ve eaten. I’m going to the company later. Do you have any plans? Would you like to go to Rayson International with me?” Clayton was incredibly gentle.

Isabella felt something was off but couldn’t put her finger on it.

Clayton seemed to be well–behaved today. He was accustomed to being mischievous with her, saying things that made her blush. However, also today, he sat there all too obediently. Moreover, his complexion didn’t look good.

“Clayton, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Isabella asked, reaching out to touch his forehead.

The latter grabbed her hand and kissed it. “Nothing, I’m fine.”

Blushing, Isabella withdrew her hand, but she continued to scrutinize Clayton’s face.

“What are your plans today?” Clayton asked again.

“Oh, I want to visit Gwendolyn. Something happened on set with her yesterday, I need to keep her company,” Isabella said while drinking the

mushroom soup, frowning.

“What happened? Does she need help?” Clayton asked casually.

Isabella paused and thought for a moment before replying, “I’m not sure. Let me ask her about it.” Then, she recounted the events on set to Clayton.

Clayton remained silent.

There was a knock on the door, and Isabella jumped up to open it.

It was Kayson, with Weston trailing behind.

“Good morning, Mrs. Murray!” The two greeted Isabella, but she still felt awkward with her title. She lowered her head unnaturally and opened the door to let them in.

“Boss, are you ready to go?” Kayson asked Clayton softly.

Clayton stood up with slow and graceful movements. “Let’s go.”

Kayson and Weston followed slowly behind him.

Weston had his usual straight face on, and Kayson looked serious as well. Their eyes were fixed on Clayton with concern.

Isabella glanced at Kayson and Weston before letting her eyes slowly fall on Clayton, who was walking toward her with a smile.

Clayton smiled gently and looked at her with affection as usual. “I’m going to the company. I’ll come back early tonight.”

Isabella stared at him as he walked step by step toward her. When Clayton was about to reach her, she slammed the door shut and leaned against it.

The three of them were stunned.

Clayton laughed, “What’s wrong? You don’t want me to go? Would

to go? Would you like to go to the company

any with me?”

Isabella looked at him and said quietly, “Clayton, take off your coat and let me see.”

Clayton’s hand, about to ruffle her hair, froze in mid–air. Kayson and Weston’s expression changed as well

Isabella stared at Clayton motionlessly.

He stroked her hair and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Isabella grabbed his hand, looked into his eyes, and spoke calmly. “Take off your coat, and let me see where you’re injured.”

The three of them were somewhat surprised.

Clayton paused and asked, “How did you know I’m injured?”

Isabella only tightened her grip on Clayton’s hand. “Are you injured?”

Clayton remained silent, only looking at her gently.

Isabella looked up and explained, “You look pale and you sound weak. Your walking is slow and a little strange, but your legs should be fine. You usually go out with your coat in your hand, but today you wear it early in the morning.”

Clayton silently stared into her clear and bright eyes.

Kayson and Weston exchanged glances with each other, thinking that Isabella was observant.

Isabella’s nose tingled. “Clayton, I dreamed that you were injured.” Her tears suddenly fell on the back of Clayton’s hand.

In a panic, Clayton took another step toward her. “Don’t cry.”

Perhaps he moved too quickly, his tall figure swayed, and Kayson and Weston held him quickly. “Boss!”

“Clayton!” Isabella exclaimed simultaneously.

Clayton steadied himself, but his face grew even paler.

“Clayton, don’t hide it from me. Where are you hurt? Is it serious?” Isabella choked. Her hand instinctively moved to his waist. Her expression changed as she swiftly lifted his coat up.

His waist was wrapped in thick white bandages, and blood was seeping from the left side.

“Clayton!” She looked at Clayton in horror.

The latter looked at her helplessly. His body went limp, and Weston quickly supported him.

“Call the ambulancel” isabella quickly ran to the coffee table and grabbed her phone.

But Kayson stopped her. “Mrs. Murray, Mr. Murray has a personal doctor.”

Isabella was stunned. “Then call the doctor.”

Kayson nodded, and together with Weston, they helped Clayton into the bedroom. Isabella rushed ahead and pulled back to the blanket. Then, she watched them carefully put Clayton onto the bed. She stepped forward and gently helped him take off his coat.

The glimpse of bright red around his waist frightened her.

Kneeling on the bed, she grabbed Clayton’s hand. In a trembling voice, she asked with teary eyes, “Clayton, does it hurt?”

Clayton smiled weakly in response. “It’s fine, just a minor injury. Don’t cry.”

Kayson and Weston are already on the phone, one to the doctor and one to Johnny.

Soon, both of them arrived.

Isabella, still kneeling by the bed, was wiping the sweat off Clayton. She said softly, “Hold on. The doctor will be here soon.”

As soon as the doctor came in, he said, “I told you not to move last night, but you just wouldn’t listen. Well, now you’re in pain, serves you right.”

Isabella turned to him. “Andrew?”

“Huh? Isabella? Why are you here?” asked Andrew Maguire, Clayton’s private doctor.

Isabella immediately grabbed his arm. “Andrew, quickly come and check his injury!”

Andrew was pulled off balance by her. “Hey, hey, okay, okay! I’m here to check his injury. Don’t worry, he won’t die.”

He approached the bed and frowned as he looked at the bandages. “Did the wound reopen? How did it happen? What were you doing to apply such force?”

Isabella stood aside and watched nervously. She blushed when she heard Andrew’s words. Clayton had carried her from the couch to the bed last night!

She looked at Clayton, who also glanced at her with a smile in his eyes.

Following his gaze, Andrew looked at Isabella and assessed her. “No matter how thin, she’s definitely not less than 88 pounds. No wonder!” Isabella wished she could hide herself in a hole. Kayson, Weston, and Johnny looked away, suppressing their laughter.

Andrew asked Weston and Hendrix to help unwrap the bandages for a wound examination.

Seeing Isabella still staring at his waist, Clayton asked, “Little girl, I want to drink the fruit juice you make. Go make it for me and let Andrew taste it too. I need to thank him for coming early to take care of me.”

Andrew paused for a moment and understood the situation. He smiled at isabella and teased, “Wow, you can make fruit juice? Then do it quickly. I’ll deal with him gently later, for your sake.”

Isabella nodded anxiously. “Okay! I’ll make it now.”

When Isabella returned, Clayton’s waist was wrapped with fresh bandages, and Weston and Kayson were cleaning up the blood–stained ones.

Her heart tightened as she thought, ‘He didn’t want me to see his wound, so it must be serious.

Andrew laughed. “Now that Isabella knows, you don’t need to hide it anymore. Rest well here. I’ll come to change the dressing every day. Isabella, come over. I’ll tell you about the care points and dietary contraindications.”

Isabella agreed obediently. “Okay!”

She carefully tucked Clayton into bed, and the latter held her hand. In front of so many people, Isabella’s face turned as red as a ripe apple.

“Don’t get any funny ideas. We’re leaving, and you should get a good night’s sleep.” Andrew said straightforwardly, which made Isabella’s face turn even redder. She walked over, pulled the curtains closed, and everyone else left.

“Mrs. Murray,” Clayton called.

“Yeah?” Isabella walked to the bedside.

“What’s wrong? Does it hurt? Isabella asked with concern.

Clayton tugged her hand, indicating for her to bend down. “I want a comforting kiss.”

Isabella blushed again, but she gently kissed his cheek. Before she raised her head, Clayton’s big hand had already grabbed the back of her

head and kissed her red lips.

He was extremely happy.

Coming back last night, carrying her to bed had exhausted all his strength. He knew the wound must have reopened, but he didn’t hesitate at

all.

Looking at her sleeping face, he felt that it was right to come back and see her. For him, everything was worth it.

This morning, when she sensitively noticed his injury, he was overjoyed. She cared about him, and that realization surpassed any pain.

He had always known her struggle and defenses, but he was got in a hurry, patiently waiting for her to hit realization.

For him, she was already by his side, so there was no rush. He was willing to spend a lifetime waiting for her to mature mentally and truly fall

in love with him.
