Chapter 31
Reuben
“WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!!” I roared, digging my claws into the skin of his face. This f**king mutt just ran his mouth in front of my children based on the crumbs of information that he f**king knew! The memories of that day six years ago in Willow’s house when she cried in front of me for our babies stabbed my heart, making my furious to no end. The memories that haunted me day and night were being dregged up at the absolue worst time and place by this f**king mutt and all I wanted was his blood to assage my burning bloodlust.
“No! Alpha Reuben!!” Benjamin pleaded in fear as his son screamed in pain in my grasp.
“Reuben, don’t!” Willow screamed in horror but my wolf took charge when it came to burying this asshole alive where he stood. All her begging fell onto my deaf ears, as he struggled in my grip for his life.
“Let me show you who and what I deserve…” I sneered looking deep into fearful eyes.
Before I could drag him around by the skin of his face and rip it off, Willow tightly grabbed my wrist, “Please, let him! Let him go, I beg you!” her face was flushed red and her eyes were slightly watery knowing what my next move would be. She made me look deep into her eyes before she added, “Please, let him go for me,” she whispered.

Her wolf suddenly connected with mine like a soft touch to my rabid wolf. Dex roared my mind once as I took control over him and released Sky’s face from my grasp. I stared at Willow who was sucking in deep breaths. She…she and Ceri had initiated a connection with Dex and I for the first time in six
years.
Willow read the surprise in my gaze knowing what she could do to me and how much I was affected by the smallest approach by her. “Let’s go,” she inched closer to me. “We are going back to Emerald Bright, now!” She held my hand tightly and quickly started leading me out, fearing that I would begin attacking the Alpha’s son again, who was bleeding from his face. “Alpha, I am sorry for everything that happened. please take care of Sky,” she apologized as she passed by them. Alpha Benjamin nodded, his panic over my anger flashing in his eyes then another man rushed into the packhouse before we could exit.
“ALPHA! ALPHA!” a man rushed in among swearing and yelling.
“What’s wrong?!” Alpha Benjamin stepped forward as Willow and I halted sensing something was wrong.

Chapter 31
“THE SHINE MOON PACK HAS BEEN ATTACK AND IT IS SUSPECTED THAT IT IS THE SAME CULPRIT THAT ATTACKED SILVER MOON AND GREEN WOOD!!” he almost screamed in terror.
I cocked my brows at the news. I had seen Shine Moon Pack’s Alpha, Alpha Alex at the Alpha Ball when Willow had spoken to him about a peace treaty.
“What?” Alpha Benjamin’s reaction startled everyone. “The Shine Moon Pack’s borders abut ours and Ken has taken Wyatt and Lori to the river that runs partially through Shine Moon’s territory. If they were attacked that means…” The Alpha’s face turned white in horror as he raised nervous eyes to meet Willow and mine.
My muscles tightened not understanding everything but comprehending the magnitude of the situation, I shifted my gaze to Willow’s wide eyes as her hand that was holding mine had turned ice cold.
“No…” she took a step back in panic as she looked at me, “Reuben…Wyatt and Lori…” she whispered.
I froze in place fully grasping the meaning behind Willow’s reaction. Willow immediately let go of my hand and raced out of the packhouse. Without wasting any time, I followed her, matching her speed in the woods, leaving Alpha Benjamin behind as he instructed his pack members to spread out around the pack and woods to protect the pack.
“WYATTI LORI!!” Willow’s shouts echoed in the woods as we raced towards the river. Running, I looked at her small face that revealed every single negative thought that was running through her mind. The fear of losing our children was already haunting her, breaking her internally. ‘WYATT! LORI!!” she screamed, this time her voice shook.
“Willow,” I grabbed her hand, making her look at me, circumspectly stopping her negative thoughts for a second, “Shouting is useless when the pack on the other side of the river is being attacked. Wyatt and Lori seem to have gone into the river because I can’t smell them either. If the river is large then they could be anywhere.”
“Yes, the river is large,” she replied, her face growing paler, understanding what I meant. “It will take too much time for us to find them in that case. But the Shine Moon has been attacked! Wyatt and Lori, they…they also went to the river where the attackers can harm them too…” her eyes watered out of fear for her babies.
“Nothing will happen to them,” I gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, making her look in my eyes as I assured her. “We will protect our babies, Willow.”
I could clearly hear her heartbeat even though we kept running as her eyes softened

when she nodded trusting in me. I smiled with a nod, “Let’s separate, we can cover more ground that way as we search for them,” I remarked, gently letting go of her hand.
“Okay,” She let go of my hand too as we turned in different directions then ran off at lightning speed. It was very dark in the woods so I used my wolf eyes to see my surroundings. So far I had not found any enemies which was very strange. It was a risk to shift in someone else’s territory, so I remained in my human form. Hearing the sound of the river, just as I had traveled about a kilometer, I saw a figure racing towards. me in the dark. I half shifted to attack whoever it was until I recognized the man as Beta Ken but he was not alone. Wyatt and Lori were in his arms..
“Alpha Reuben!” he raced faster at the sight of me.
“Wyatt! Lori!” I yelled, racing over to my children. I took both of them from Ken, clutching them tightly to me. Their little bodies were wet from the water and cold with. fear as if they had witnessed something that scared them.
“Daddy,” they both hugged me back with their short little arms.
“You two are not hurt right?” I pulled away from them, checking them over. My heart. was still beating crazily in my chest.
They shook their heads and thankfully they looked perfectly fine then Ken said, “They are fine Alpha Reuben but the same can not be said for our borders along the river.”
My ears perked up at his words, “What happened to borders?”
“The Shine Moon Pack seems to have been mysteriously killed and is currently on fire like the other two packs!!” he replied, his pulps blown large at having witnessed that scene first hand.
“On fire?!” my eyes widened as I instantly grew alert, glancing in the direction that Willow had gone. She had also gone to the river and that part must be on fire….
“F***!” I mumbled under my breath. “No… Willow is heading towards the fire…” memories from the past hit me. “She can’t… she can’t.”
“What’s wrong, Alpha Reuben?” Ken asked in panic.
“Take the children safely back to the packhouse. I am going to get Willow,” I turned to Ken with the order then immediately raced away in Willow’s direction, mind–linking her about Wyatt and Lori but she did not reply to my mind–link even once.
“Why is she not answering me?” I muttered to myself, my wolf going crazy over her lack of response.

Chapter 31
“We have to find her! We have to find her before something happens to her!” Dex growled in my mind, wanting to shift and take charges.
“WILLOW!”
“WILLOW!!” I yelled her name as I got closer to the sound of the river until the red and yellow light of the flames hit my eyes. The hair on my exposed skin stood up on end, not because of the fire but at the sight of Willow. Her eyes were wide as saucers as she stood there frozen staring at the sea of fire, shaking and sweating recalling the nightmares that were only triggered by fire.
“Willow,” I called, quickly as I gently grabbed her hand then turned her away from the fire to pull her into my chest. Her eyes remained wide and her b*dy cold with a noticeable tremble as she sweat like crazy. “Willow…” I softly called her name again, raised her chin up forcing her to look into my eyes.
“Fire…” she murmured, looking into my eyes as a pool of tears gathered in hers. “Everyone died…fire…fire…” she started to say the same thing that she had always had in the past whenever she encountered a fire in real life or her nightmares. She would end up in the same condition that she had been then, I was still unable to bear to see her like this.
“It’s nothing,” I shook my head, touching her cheek but tears began rolling down them. as she started shaking all over. “Fire…everyone died…fire….fire… run away…run…run…” she began losing her mind repeating the same thing again and again then I realized that she did not recognize me either.
“Willow… Willow….” I tried to get control of her over and over again but when she started. losing it completely, I grabbed her small face in both of my hands.
“Willow!” I yelled, boring into her gaze with my dark wolf eyes, “Look at me!” I let out a low growl, making her gasp as she stared at me, “Who am I?” I pulled her closer to my face as I asked. “Tell me who I am?” I whispered, completely taking her over with our mate bond.
She looked at me with big water eyes as her breath grew less erratic, “Reu… Reuben…” she whispered.
My heart quickened when she softly called my name for the first time in over six years. I felt as if I was thrown six years into the past, when I was the center of her warmth and love. “Yes, it’s me. Your Reuben…” I wove my fingers into her hair and crushed my l*ps to hers. Her teary eyes widened as I gently nibbled her l*p then whispered, “It’s your Reuben. So come back to your Reuben… Willow.”
