Chapter 16: The Surprise Visit
Zylen
“This is so boring.” Colby groaned as she started to bang her head off the wall.
“It amazes me how you still have brain cells left.” I snickered.
She flipped me off and continued with damaging her head.
“Children. Behave.” Ace said with a serious face. But you could tell she was trying to hold back a smile.
I smirked and shrugged. “Don’t know what you are talking about.”
Ace rolled her eyes and turned to look out the window.
‘Gabriel keeps staring at you.’ Colby said through the link.
‘I know. I can feel his eyes staring at me.’ I sighed.
‘Have you guys talked?’ Ace asked as she shifted her eyes towards me.
‘Not really. I feel like I need too, but what do I say?’ I asked confused as I looked down at my hands.
Zane groaned. “How long is this going to take.”
“Be patient.” Deacon said as he shifted in his seat. “It’s gonna take the scientists a little bit to work.”
Zane groaned again and leaned his head back against the wall.
‘Well he looks like he wants to say something, but he’s holding his tongue.’ Ace mentioned.
I sighed. ‘Just great.’
‘What do you think he wants to talk about?’ Colby asked.
I was about to reply, but Gabriel stood up and walked in front of me.
“Hey. Um. C-can I talk to you?” Gabriel asked carefully.
‘Looks like she’s about to find out.’ Ace joked.
‘Shut the fuck up.’ I growled at them.
“Uh ya sure. Let’s go outside.” I said as tilted my head towards the door.
Oh good fucking Lord. What doe he want to talk about?
‘Probably this whole mate ordeal thing dumbass.’ My wolf chuckled.
‘Yanno. Sometimes your sarcasm really hurts.’ I huffed as my wolf just continued to laughed.
“I think we need to talk about some things.” Gabriel said softly as he looked down at me.
Why does he have to be so freakishly damn tall?
‘Focus.’ My wolf said.
Oh...right.
I nodded as I looked down at the ground. “I know. But I just don’t know what to say.”
“Well I’d like to start off by saying I’m sorry. And I really do mean that Zylen.” Gabriel smiled sadly. “I was a fucking idiot and I didn’t think about my actions. I should have said something but I didn’t.”
“Gabriel-” I started but he cut me off.
“No.” Gabriel shook her head and waved his hands. “Please. Let me finish.”
I sighed and nodded. “Carry on.”
“Thank you.” Gabriel smiled. “But I mean it. I’m going to show you how sorry I am and how much I love you for the rest of my life. You mean the world to me and I want a chance. I know what I did was awful, believe me, I regret it so much. So you are worth so much. I can’t get you out of my head. You are constantly on my mind and to be honest, I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
My eyes widened and I felt my jaw drop a little.
Uh what the fuck does a girl say to that?
“G-Gabriel.” I breathed out. “I-I.”
Gabriel smiled and shook his head slightly. “It’s okay Zylen. You don’t have to have a response. I can wait. I just wanted you to know how I felt.”
I smiled and pulled him in for a hug.
I felt him freeze for a moment before he relaxed and wrapped his arms tightly around me and pulled me closer.
I smiled and snuggled into his chest.
A girl could get use to this.
“Hey Zylen.” Ace called out.
I looked up to see her smirking.
I quickly shoved Gabriel away and cleared my throat.
“Hey girl! What’s up?” I asked trying to play it cool.
Ace gave me a knowing smile and shook her head.
‘Shut up.’ I mouthed.
She winked. ‘Fine. We’ll talk later.’
“They’re done.” Ace said and walked back in the building.
I laughed slightly and turned back to Gabriel.
I stood up on my tiptoes and gave him a small peck on the cheek. “You have to earn it.”
He smiled and nodded frantically. “That’s fine with me.”
“Come on.” I laughed and opened up the door to the lab.
‘I think I could work with this.’ My wolf mumbled.
Me too I thought to myself.
Ace
“They confirmed it.” I sighed. “This is how the rogues are making the gas.”
Deacon growled. “Just great. This is just what we need.”
“Is there a way we can fight back against this?” Zane asked.
I shook my head. “Not that I know of.”
“This thing is deadly as hell. Is there even anything that can beat it?” Colby exaggerated.
“Not letting it get near you.” Gabriel shrugged.
Zane smacked the back of his head. “Thank you captain obvious.”
“Ow.” Gabriel whined as he rubbed the back of his head. “Hurtful.”
“Oh toughen up.” Deacon laughed.
“Alpha!” Mike yelled as he ran into the lab with his twin brother.
“What?” I asked high in alert.
“We have a surprise visit from yours truly.” He growled.
I nodded and he ran off to warn everybody.
“We need to get ready. Lawson showed up.” I said through gritted teeth.
Deacon growled and stood closer to me. “Well then let’s go give him a warm welcome.”
I smiled at his evil smirk and nodded.
“Party time!” Colby and Zylen yelled.
I turned to one of my pack members.
“Can you do anything with that?” I asked as I pointed to the two test containers.
“Maybe a gas bomb? But with this little ingredients, it’ll take a little bit.” He said.
I nodded. “That’s fine. Start on that.”
“What do you want us to do?” Zane asked.
“Fight.” Deacon and I said at the same time.
“Let’s do this!” Gabriel yelled as we all ran out of the lab.
‘This is your lovely alpha speaking. We have a surprise visit at the north border. Teams, get in your positions.’ I linked everyone.
Lawson is going down once and for all.
