Chapter 88
Chapter 88
When Frederic and I arrived at the entrance of the Gemini Chemical Co., there was a group of men in their forties and fifties gathered there. They were engaged in a heated discussion about something.
As Frederic’s car drove over, they all turned their heads to look at it.
“What are we here for?” I had a bad feeling and stopped the car to ask Frederic.
“Negotiation.” Frederic remained calm and composed, as if the group of angry–looking men outside was not about to target him.
Seeing Frederic getting ready to get off, I quickly made my stance clear, “I’m not going. If you want to go, go by yourself!”
This is not a joke. In case Frederic had a dispute with those men, my weak body could have been severely injured.
Frederic answered coldly, “You had to go. Don’t forget that you were my secretary now. Do you want me to go and talk to your mom about your work attitude?”
I was speechless when Frederic used Evie to threaten me.
I had to compromise. After all, it was Evie who pressured Frederic to let me join the Hudson Group as Frederic’s
personal secretary. If Evie found out that my work attitude was so poor, her impression of me would probably worsen.
I made up my mind. “Alright, I’m going!”
After getting off the car, I followed behind Frederic and walked toward the angry crowd.
“Are you the President of the Hudson Group?” The man leading the way appeared to be under fifty years old. He was slightly overweight, with a beer belly, and looked somewhat unattractive. This person was Sam, Emilia’s father.
“Yes. Today I came to talk to everyone about the demolition compensation. Can you talk to me as a representative?” Frederic’s tone was gentle and polite.
The magic of love made a domineering prince become polite and humble when facing his future father–in–law.
Obviously, Sam didn’t expect Frederic to be so polite. He was stunned for a moment. After looking back at the others, he nodded. “Okay.”
I knew that in this negotiation, Frederic would give a satisfactory outcome to Sam. It was all because of Emilia’s face. Emilia was very likely to have already approached
Frederic for this matter.
Frederic was a shrewd businessman. He would surely have told Emilia that there were other people specifically responsible for the demolition. He was not very clear about the situation. Then he personally stepped in to resolve the
issue, making Emilia feel like he was regressing for her sake.
Frederic could not possibly be unaware of how important the demolition compensation was. Only a naive little girl like Emilia would believe his words.
I followed Frederic and Sam back to the car. As soon as I got in the car, I found an excuse to get off. I didn’t want to hear their conversation and I didn’t want to see the scene of Frederic giving up for love.
In my previous life, I begged Frederic to spare the Scott family, but he refused me. Compared to Emilia, I suffered a miserable defeat.
After waiting silently for over half an hour, Sam got off the car. To my surprise, his face didn’t look too good. He glanced at me and then left. Frederic didn’t get off the car.
“What’s going on? He should be excited, shouldn’t he?” | was puzzled.
I watched as Sam returned to the crowd and spoke a few words with those people. The group of people became excited again. I shook my head and then turned around, intending to go back to the car.
“Sylvia!”
