Chapter 81
Chapter 81
I spoke up, “Yes, Jan. We are your best friends, as close as your family. Do you trust us? No matter what happens, we will always have your back!”
Cecelia nodded. “Yes, we would never harm you!”
Janessa’s face changed, as if she sensed that something bad was about to happen. But then she forced a calm smile and said, “What are you talking about? Of course, I know you wouldn’t harm me. In my heart, you are my good friends.”
Greta and I exchanged a glance. Then, I took out my phone, opened a video, and placed it in front of Janessa.
Janessa stared at the video. Soon, her little face turned pale.
“Jan…” I couldn’t bear it in my heart. The truth was truly too ugly. The happy marriage she had always yearned for was destined to be destroyed at this moment.
Janessa suddenly stood up. She looked at us and opened her mouth. Before she could say anything, she suddenly fainted.
Greta quickly grabbed her and said, “Jan!”
Half an hour later, I took charge of driving while Greta and Cecelia supported Janessa sitting in the back, and we
rushed to the hospital.
A long time passed. The doctor told us that Janessa had experienced a slight rupture of an ectopic pregnancy. It was certain that she couldn’t keep the baby. Otherwise, it would have cost her life.
Greta contacted Janessa’s parents and they rushed to the hospital. They signed the surgery consent form, and at the same time, we explained the details of the situation to
them.
“Leonel, that beast!” Janessa’s father exclaimed, his hands trembling with anger.
“Jan must never marry him!” Janessa’s mother said, her eyes red. She was both angry and heartbroken, wiping away tears as she spoke.
I held her hand and comforted her, “Jan and Leonel haven’t gotten married yet. We still have time to stop all of this. This child is ectopic and cannot be kept. We can bring her back from this bad relationship. So please rest assured. Let us handle this matter. We will definitely give you a
satisfactory explanation. Until then, please do not go looking for Leonel.”
It was too cheap for him to just break up like this.
Janessa’s parents agreed to our request. When Janessa was wheeled out of the operating room, we rushed forward to see how she was doing.
Janessa’s face turned pale. She kept her eyes tightly shut
and showed no response. The doctor said it was because the anesthesia had not worn off yet. She would wake up in a while.
I had Greta and Cecelia accompany Janessa’s mother to go back and bring some nutritional supplements over, and then I had Janessa’s father go to the company first, no need to worry. I stayed by Janessa’s side alone, waiting for her to wake up.
“Jan, are you awake?” After a while, Janessa woke up. I quickly poured her a glass of water. “Here, have some warm water to drink.”
Janessa looked at me, her eyes filled with exhaustion. I thought she would blame me for telling Greta and Cecelia about Leonel’s affair, causing her embarrassment.
But Janessa raised her hand and held mine, weakly saying, “Syl, thank you. Otherwise, I would have to continue being deceived.”
I was taken aback and suddenly felt my eyes welling up. I set down my glass and also held her hand, comforting her, “Jan, as long as we get through this period, everything will be alright. Leonel doesn’t deserve you!”
Janessa’s eyes were filled with pain, but she still nodded. “I know. It’s just that I can’t understand why he would do this. Am I not good enough?”
“You were fine, Jan. It was him who was a complete mess. Even your child was trying to stop you from jumping into the fire pit. You must stay sober,” I squeezed her hand
tightly.
Janessa touched her belly with her other hand. A tear rolled
down from the corner of her eye. “Yeah. Maybe the baby knew too, that if I had him, I would probably endure it. That’s why he chose to leave me!”
