Chapter 79
Chapter 79
“Frederic, weren’t you eating lunch at home?” I called out to him and asked.
“I have some things to deal with first,” said Frederic as he changed his shoes. Then he left without looking back.
I stared blankly for a moment, then let out a bitter laugh. I was really asking for trouble by keeping him around. But I still felt a little disappointed. Every time I compared myself to Emilia, I would lose. It really hurt me.
After finishing lunch, I went upstairs to rest alone. It was already dark when I got up. When I woke up, Greta and Cecelia were already waiting for me in the living room.
“Syl, how can you sleep so much? Are you a pig?” Greta laughed at me while eating fruit.
“Was there such a skinny pig?” yawned and answered with a smile, sitting beside them.
Cecelia asked with some confusion, “Why didn’t you call Jan to come today?”
I sighed and said, “I called you guys over to talk about Jan. Let me show you something!”
I found a photo and video of Leonel hugging another woman on my phone and showed it to Greta and Cecelia. After seeing it, Greta rolled up her sleeves, stood up, and
rushed to the kitchen. “Where’s the knife? I’m going to kill that scumbag right now!”
Cecelia also turned pale with anger. She started to curse loudly, “How dare Leonel cheat? With his looks, Jan should be lucky to marry him!”
“Don’t get too excited. Our top priority now is not to retaliate against Leonel,” I quickly stopped Greta.
“What else could be more important? Dig up his ancestors‘ graves?” Greta pulled out a knife. She was so angry that she could be mistaken for a terrorist walking down the street by the police.
1 let out a deep sigh and said, “Jan is pregnant.”
“Clang!” The knife fell to the ground. Greta was very surprised.
Three minutes later, the three of us sat back on the couch and began discussing what to do next. Pregnancy is a big deal. We were both afraid that Janessa would endure it for the sake of the child, and afraid that she would rationally break up with him. Abortion is harmful to the body.
Anyway, we were in a dilemma!
“We couldn’t drag it out. A short pain is better than a long one. If we drag it out, it will cause more harm to her!” -Cecelia’s face was solemn.
“Yes, it’s better to tell her earlier. Even if she loves Leonel very much, it’s okay if she doesn’t recognize me as a friend. Anyway, I can’t just watch her being deceived. If we don’t
tell her, and she has a child in the future and finds out the truth, she will blame us.” Greta also agreed with Cecelia’s opinion.
Actually, I thought the same way. I just wanted Greta and Cecelia to go with me to persuade Janessa.
Suddenly, Greta’s face became even more unpleasant. She hesitated before continuing, “Even if Leonel didn’t cheat, I wouldn’t recommend Jan be with him. Remember when we got engaged? I left before you guys did, right? Well, I ran into Leonel’s parents downstairs at the hotel. The things they said were really disgusting!”
“What did you say?” I asked.
“They said Leonel was talented and promising, and he found a beautiful and wealthy woman. They didn’t even want to give a small dowry, but they thought that they could get more in the future, so they reluctantly agreed. They also said that Jan’s biggest flaw was having a younger brother, who would likely inherit half of her family’s wealth. Otherwise, all of Jan’s wealth could have belonged to Leonel.” Greta said this through gritted teeth.
I was also furious. Leonel cheated on Janessa and his parents were very greedy. Poor Janessa was so sincere to them and always spoke highly of Leonel in front of us.
If I had not been reborn and had not met Ruben, I would not have gone to the bar that day and met Leonel, thus discovering the ugly face beneath his hypocritical mask. In my previous life, after I died, Janessa and he must have had a bad life after marriage!
