Genesis : Knights of Salvation Series

Archer’s P.O.V:

I slam my boot into the door, the loud crack and sputter of the handle tumbling to the ground sounding out around us. The door to the basement lurches open, revealing the encasing darkness the metal stairs lead into. Both black and red blood cover the door and the steps leading into the dark. The clinking of my metal sword sounds as my heavy footsteps cause the metal steps to creek out.

Step after step I lower into the dark, my feet finally landing on the ground, the ringing of the old stale light beginning as they flash on. My eyes followed the road of blood to the middle of the room. She lays in a pool of her own blood. Her pale ivory skin causes the dark blood to stand out as it seems to seep into every inch of her skin. The streaks of tears cutting through the blood staining her face. A hollowing death to experience.

“Ruby,” I call to her on ground level. Her small feet ring down the steps. Her breath audibly picked up at the scary sight before her. I walk slowly to aspen’s still body, my heart drumming in my chest. My finger’s pressing against her cold neck. I wait, for one second then the next...….
