Chapter As Unyielding As I Can Be
I’d intended far more aplomb.
“There’d be no need to steal from me. We both benefit.” He rushed on. Hands outstretched. “If you were to take my name, become my wife. I would give you everything. I’d hang the stars for your happiness.”
She blinked at him. Blonde brows slowly lifting.
Say something!
“Be my mate. Walk with me for centuries. Join with me.” He coaxed.
Marry me.
She stared at him along while before her face was wiped of any expression. “Never.” She whispered taking her bite and chewing as her gaze dropped to her trencher. “I’ll never wed again. Never align myself with a man again.” Her grip was white knuckled on the table and jaw jutted with rage.
Why not!
She’s upset with me again. He blew a frustrated breath. Floundering. Perhaps insisting on a shared breakfast and pursuing this reckless course had been unwise.
“But last night…”
Was amazing. Emotional. Deeply touching.
“Was a momentary weakness.” She dismissed without looking up.
Was a bit more than that! He winced at her harsh words. Nothing about you was weak.
She’d expertly kissed nibbled and sucked on his body until he was on fire with desire. Then he’d rolled to his back to snatch her waist and pull her down on him. She’d slowly lifted her skirt and as she slid onto his lap, he’d slipped the fabric down her shoulders to reveal the perfect pink crests of her breasts. Her heat had overcome him, and his head had fallen back on a moan. Her triumphant cry had revealed her joy in her power over him.
Turning me to clay in your hands.
“Hopefully not the last.” He murmured exiting the room. Already feeling his body spiking with heat at the mere memory.
It won’t be the last. I effect her. Perhaps not as potently as she does me but she’s not immune… He entered the library. Dropping sideways into his red chair. And propping his cheek on a fist as he stared down the line of bookshelves to the sunlight outside.
I never get enough time with her. He thought in frustration. It seemed he was forever being called out to his brothers. It never bothered me before.
Now he found himself, working to hide how it pained him more and more to tell her farewell.
It wasn’t such a bad idea…He consoled himself. Trying to avoid the pain of her brutal rejection.
Why won’t she even consider it? He massaged his forehead in disappointment. Why would she say never? His thoughts were disrupted by a flare of annoyance that made his teeth grit.
No one resists me long. He leapt to his feet and strode back into the Dining Hall.

She looked up at him. Eyes widening as she slowly chewed. Watching him round the table until across from her. She swallowed hard as he leaned across it.
Gold eyes flashing, he closed in on her. “Never...is a very long time, My Lady…After all, you agreed to ally with Your Prince of Air and Darkness.” He lifted his glass to toast her.
She blew a relieved breath.
What did she think I’d do? Crawl across this table and tip her over? Is she so afraid of me touching her? Kissing her?
Only comfortable when she’s the one in control, is she?
He’d hoped she’d deny the man was hers. No such luck.
To his disappointment, she swept her glass from the table. Sending wine over the fine rug. She stood. Livid with rage. Eyes glinting red and chin tipped in defiance. Her posture boded ill for him.
But that form…
Sunlight illuminated that silver gown, exposing her body to his roving gaze. Already breathing heavily, she turned to exit.
He didn’t move. Mesmerized by her pretty silhouette and the blush brightening her cheeks. Stunningly radiant. Fascinating in all her furious glory.
When she reached the doorway, she was jolted and had to take a step back. Eyeing the frame askance before slowly turning on her heel to face him. Slipper squeaking with her slow movement. Withering accusation written over her expression. “You’ve blocked me in?”
