Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Liana cried bitterly.

Ella was at her wit’s end. Why should she just hand the man she had nurtured so well over to someone else?

She wasn’t a mistress who stole Jaden away.

They hadn’t been in contact for years, and the marriage agreement had been annulled long ago. Jaden was single, free to be with anyone.

So why should Ella sacrifice herself to fulfill someone else’s wishes

Ella said, “Sorry, we’re already married. I won’t divorce easily. How about I persuade you to give up on him and find someone else?”

Liana’s face turned ashen, and she collapsed to the ground.

Ella said, “Waiting for him was your choice. He didn’t wait for you, and that’s his choice. You can’t mix this up, right? I’m sorry for hitting you today. If you want to go through legal channels, I’ll support you since it was my fault. But I can’t just hand over my husband because of this debt.

“In the future, if you need anything, contact my secretary. As long as it’s not unreasonable, your requests will be met. I’m skipping this dinner. Goodbye,” Ella said and decisively left.

Liana said nothing.

After Ella left and the door closed, Liana stood up.

Her tears instantly dried up, and she coldly stared at the closed door.

She had never failed to get what she wanted.

On the way back, Ella felt extremely frustrated. During the investigation into Jaden’s background, Ella did hear about his childhood sweetheart, but they had broken up, so Ella didn’t pay it any mind. She didn’t expect that the sweetheart would return and openly express her love for Jaden.

Jaden was quite popular. Ella had her people investigate the details that were missed.

It matched what Liana said. She was a perfect girlfriend, who didn’t abandon her brain–damaged boyfriend. She tirelessly cared for him for two years until her parents forced her to move abroad.

In those years, Liana went on countless dates with wealthy and powerful men but wasn’t interested in any of them.

She spent years expressing her determination to marry only Jaden. Her parents, fearing she’d become an old maid, reluctantly agreed.

Ella felt a bit sorry for Liana.

Liana was a good girl, but she and Jaden were not fated to be together.

Back home, Ella found Jaden increasingly annoying.

That night, while lying in bed, the more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She kicked him off the bed.

Jaden, sleeping soundly, woke up instantly, bewildered.

“What happened?” he asked.

Ella said, “I’m upset! Sleep on the floor!”

Jaden asked, “What did I do wrong?”

He was confused. Were women’s moods always this unpredictable?

Ella didn’t answer, just covered herself with the quilt and slept.

Jaden shook his head helplessly and obediently made a bed on the floor.

Before falling asleep, he wondered why Ella’s belly still wasn’t showing since she was six or seven months pregnant.

He had researched and knew some people didn’t show much due to being thin or because of different carrying positions, but it was still dangerous.

He needed to be careful in case she went into labor unexpectedly.

The next morning, Ella looked exhausted, having not slept well all night.

After she left, Hank called Jaden and said, “Ms. Willow has a dinner engagement tonight, expected to end at midnight. I’ve scheduled a dinner for you at eight, so you can be back by ten, before she returns.”

aden said, “Alright.”

As night fell, Hank arrived to pick Jaden up.

At half–past nine, Hank received a call.

Ella’s event ended early, and she was heading home. If she got home and Jaden wasn’t there, it would be hard to explain.

They had to leave immediately.

Hank sped up. While turning a corner, he didn’t slow down as no one was in sight. But suddenly, a figure darted out, and he hit the person.

Sir…”

Hank was nearly scared out of his wits.

Jaden’s face darkened. “Don’t just stand there! Get the person into the car. There’s a hospital nearby. Let’s go!”

They couldn’t worry about Ella now, as they had injured a person.

Hank didn’t see who he hit and quickly put the person into the car.

Liana had briefly fainted from the pain.

She had intentionally collided with Ella’s car during the day, but not at night.

Liana had visited the Watson family, playing the emotional card. She knew it wouldn’t work. No one in the Watson family would stand up for her. But that didn’t matter, as long as more people knew about her deep feelings.

On her way back, her car broke down halfway. Seeing headlights from an approaching car, Liana tried to flag it down for help. Instead, she got hit. The pain made Liana want to curse, but then she heard a conversation.

“I’ll call Ms. Willow immediately. We should make it in time,” Hank said.

Liana said, “Sir, it’s all my fault. I’ll be more careful next time.”

“Enough. There won’t be a next time,” Jaden said.

The voice was familiar to Liana.

Liana struggled to open her eyes and brushed the hair from her face.

She locked eyes with Jaden.

Liana’s mind raced, and she immediately burst into tears, throwing herself into Jaden’s arms.

“Jaden!” Liana shouted.

Jaden froze.

His hands remained limp by his sides.

Furrowing his brow, he couldn’t believe he had hit his former fiancée.

There was no hiding now, and the atmosphere in the car grew awkward.

“Jaden, is it really you? Am I dreaming?” Liana asked in a trembling voice.

Jaden pressed his lips together, not answering.

“Your illness is cured? You’re not a fool anymore?” Liana asked.

Jaden rubbed his aching temples.

“Let’s get to the hospital first,” Jaden said.

They quickly took Liana to the hospital, but Liana refused treatment unless Jaden saw her.

Jaden had no choice but to comply.

Jaden said, “Why aren’t you cooperating with the treatment? The doctor said if your bones aren’t set properly, it could affect you for life. Aren’t you afraid?”

Of course, Liana was scared, but she needed answers from Jaden first.

The secretary beside him seemed important, addressing him as “Sir.” What was Jaden’s current status?

Liana asked, “When did you recover?”

“In the past two years,” Jaden said.

“That person called you Sir. What do you do now?” Liana asked.

I started my own business,” Jaden said.

Liana didn’t believe him but became more convinced that Jaden wasn’t simple now.

Liana was certain Jaden still had feelings for her, which increased her chances of reconciling with him.

Liana said, “No matter what you do, I’ll support you. This time I won’t be weak and lose you again. Jaden, I’ll stay with you till the end of Whether you’re cured or rich, I don’t care. I’ve always wanted just you.

my life.

“I haven’t gone a day without thinking about you. I regret everything. If I could do it over, I’d never leave. Jaden, don’t give up on me. I came back to find you. I missed you so much!”

She cried, clinging tightly to his waist, tears soaking his clothes.
