Chapter 880
"Connor, they're still at it," someone remarked.
"Moss and Beck," Connor called out, his voice carrying a hint of annoyance.
In the blink of an eye, Zachary felt a rush of wind, and before he knew it, he was airborne, landing with a thud ten feet away, leaving a sizeable crater in the ground.
"Master!" The Jones family members gasped, rushing to his aid.
Zachary's entire body screamed with pain, as if his bones had turned to dust. He couldn't even stand, his face pale as a ghost, drenched in sweat, lips quivering too much to speak.
"Who do you think you are, laying hands on our Master?" One of the Jones family members, clearly unaware of who Connor was and trying to impress Zachary, pointed accusingly at Connor. "Our Master could make you wish you'd never been born with just a flick of his finger!"
Zachary, barely managing to get to his feet, heard this and was so terrified he fell back down with a thud. He looked at the speaker in horror. Did he even realize what he was saying? Zachary wouldn't dare speak to Connor like that!
Kruz, still simmering with anger, was momentarily taken aback but then broke into a mischievous grin. "Bro, he said he's gonna make you wish you'd never been born!"
Every year, there are those looking for trouble, but this year seemed especially ripe with them. This guy must've had a death wish to talk to his brother that way.
"I heard it too!" Adrian chimed in, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Bro, with them talking about you like that, you've got to show them what you're made of, or they'll think you're soft!"
"Yeah, yeah!" Kruz and Adrian bantered back and forth, enjoying the moment.
Connor cast a cool, indifferent glance Zachary's way. With just that one look, Zachary felt like his spine was about to snap from the pressure!
"Does the Jones family think they've overstayed their welcome?" Connor's voice was calm, almost casual, but it sent shivers down Zachary's spine.
That one sentence was enough to
make Zachary leap to his feet, pain forgotten. "Mr. Howard, my people were out of line. I'll handle them right away! Please, don't be angry I'm leaving now!"
The person who had spoken realized they had crossed the line when they saw Zachary's reaction. His face turned ashen, and he quickly
followed Zachary in a hasty retreat.
The Jones family had come in like a storm but left like whipped dogs, tails between their legs.
"Bro, you were amazing!" Kruz exclaimed, giving Connor a hearty thumbs up.
Connor had made the Jones family scatter with less than three sentences, like rabbits fleeing from a hunter!
Adrian was brimming with pride, too. Normally, they were the ones losing ground to the Jones family, so seeing them so cowed was a rare treat.
"It's freezing out here, let's head inside," Karter suggested, managing a smile despite the tension. "Sorry for the interruption, everyone."
The unexpected visit from the Jones
family had clearly put Karter in a
sour mood. He knew they wouldn't
let this go, and in terms of racing
skills, they couldn't compete with the Jones family.
If it came down to a race, they'd likely lose, which meant the Reyes family racing team would have to disband according to the rules. Karter and Simon had built the Reyes family team from the ground up. He had poured his heart and soul into it for years, but now... Would it all be for nothing?
After dinner, Flora and her group left. Karter saw them off, and as soon as they were gone, his brief smile vanished, leaving him feeling weighed down by worry.
