Chapter 1064 Just Take Them
Gideon followed her gaze and comforted her, saying, “What they truly lack isn’t these things, but you as their daughter-in-law.”
Lena glanced at him annoyedly and said, “If you had made things clear from the start, maybe I could have prepared better.”
But saying this now was meaningless. Lena simply gave up, leaving all the problems for Gideon to handle.
Gideon gladly accepted this. “Just stay behind me. I’ll take care of everything. Of course, they will treat you totally differently.”
The car stopped in front of a villa, and seeing the exquisite property, Lena let out a slight sigh of relief.
She was glad that Gideon hadn’t taken her to some manor. Otherwise, she would have been really nervous.
After parking the car in the garage, Gideon led Lena through the main entrance.
Just then, Jeffrey opened the door and said upon seeing Gideon, “I’m not the one who leaked the information. There’s a rightful
one to the blame, so don’t trouble me about it.”
After saying that, Jeffrey’s gaze fell on Lena, who was following Gideon, and he smiled, “Oh! So, you brought your lifesaver? It
looks like you are safe now.”
Gideon glanced at him and continued walking in with Lena.
Just as they entered the hall, a glass was hurled violently, shattering into pieces, accompanied by a furious shout. “You still have
the nerve to come back!”
Lena looked in the direction of the voice and saw an elderly man with gray hair sitting on the couch. Next to him sat a middle-
aged man and woman with serious expressions, who also looked over with displeasure.
“You...”
Upon seeing Lena behind Gideon, the old man had to forcefully swallow his curses, instead coughing violently.
This must be Gideon’s grandfather, Mervyn McKinney.
“Grandpa, are you alright?” Gideon asked with concern as he stepped forward, only to be pushed away impatiently by Mervyn.
“Get away from me!”
Gideon was shoved aside, and just as Lena was preparing to step back with him, Mervyn suddenly gave her a beaming smile
and gestured for her to come closer.
Lena reluctantly approached him.
She had thought that even if Mervyn wasn’t going to scold her outright, he would at least make some sarcastic comments. But to
her surprise, Mervyn was quite gentle to her. “So, you’re that brat’s girlfriend, huh? Although he’s a bastard, he does have good
taste in finding a girlfriend.”
“Grandpa!” Gideon spoke out helplessly to intervene, but Mervyn didn’t even spare him a glance, instead taking out a card and
handing it to Lena. “This is a little gift for our first meeting. Just take it.”
Lena had not expected Mervyn to be so straightforward in giving her gifts, and she quickly shook her head, saying, “You don’t
have to give me anything...”
However, Mervyn completely ignored her refusal and glanced at Gideon’s parents beside him as if seeking their support.
Owen and Lauren did not disappoint him. Each took out a bank card and placed it in front of Lena, saying, “You are a good kid.
Just take them. No need to be too polite with us.”
Lauren even slipped the bracelet off her wrist and directly put it onto Lena’s wrist.
There was no trace of her earlier seriousness on her face. She had completely transformed into a kind mother, tenderly gazing at
Lena.
