Chapter 90
Chapter 90 The Orphanage
Kevin asked, “Did Peter not come?”
Camila said, “Mr. Conner had something to do in the morning, but he will come after he finishes. Can we talk first?”
Maxwell initially intended to refuse, but the message was sent and then retracted.
He asked the manager of the company’s marketing department to talk to Camila.
Originally, according to Maxwell’s intention, the price for collaborating with Conner Consultancy was to be cut in half.
But Camila was really good at speaking, with solid evidence. She made a list, clearly calculating every penny spent by Startak Gaming.
The marketing department manager was convinced by her and went to find Maxwell with the list.
“Have you been brainwashed?” Maxwell couldn’t help but admire Camila for dividing the expenses so meticulously, leaving him with no room for argument.
“Mr. Starling, I think this Camila is truly talented. Not only is she excellent in her work, but her sales abilities are also top-
notch.”
“Okay, just stick to the original price tag then.”
Peter had arrived at the orphanage. This morning, he received a message saying that the orphanage where his sister Ella was located had been found.
Peter postponed everything and hurried over.
The orphanage director informed him that his sister had drowned in the sea when she was three or four years old.
Peter stared at the old clothes Ella had worn and felt like he had plunged into an ice cave. It took him a long time to
recover.
The director of the orphanage told him that Ella arrived with injuries all over her body. After staying in the hospital for over a week, Ella was picked up by the orphanage and taken care of by a girl named Sue.
The dean said that Ella and Sue had a good relationship. However, during a trip to the seaside, Ella got lost and it was said that she was swept away by the waves.
At this moment, there was a commotion in the courtyard, and it turned out to be the volunteers from the orphanage regularly giving gifts to the children.
Peter walked out of the room and saw the children
surrounding a tall and slender girl. The girl was wearing a pure white dress, as if she was adorned with an angelic halo, and
her face was filled with a smile.
“This girl is Sue,” the principal introduced. “She was later adopted by someone.”
“What was her name?”
Her name was Svetla, and she was the adopted daughter of the Chairman of Felton Realty
“Svetla?” Peter’s mind had a sudden flash, this name sounded particularly familiar.
Svetla looked over at that moment and visibly paused, “Are you Mr. Conner?”
“Are you Sue?” Peter called out her nickname.
Svetla nodded and said, “How did Mr. Conner know my nickname?”
“I heard that you have been taking care of a little girl named Ella,” Peter’s eyes welled up with tears, “She is my sister. I sincerely thank you.”
“Ella is Mr. Conner’s sister?” Svetla pretended to be surprised. “Ella is really adorable.”
Svetla talked about the things that happened when she and Ella were together in their childhood.
At noon, Peter invited Svetla to have lunch together.
In the evening, when the two of them were having dinner together, the photo that was taken of them was posted online.
Because Svetla was considered a celebrity, this matter was hyped up by some people. Others said that Peter’s mysterious girlfriend finally appeared, and she turned out to be Alan’s ex- girlfriend from five years ago…
Camila read the news and suspected that Svetla was deliberately creating a buzz again. Since her comeback,
Camila’s popularity has remained consistently high. It must be said that her PR team is indeed very skilled at seizing every opportunity for publicity.
Recently, Conner Consultancy was at its peak, and any news related to Conner Consultancy would quickly gain popularity.
However, the topic for this time was not chosen very well.
In the afternoon, Zora held a celebration party for Camila to boost morale because she secured the contract for Startak Gaming.
Peter was also very surprised when he learned about this, and he immediately approved a bonus of 8,000 dollars for Camila.
Camila was very happy and prepared a big dinner for Maxwell that evening.
They have been very busy recently and haven’t had a meal together for a long time.
Maxwell was supposed to come back at six o’clock in the evening, but it is already seven o’clock and he has not returned yet.
Camila was hungry, so she had to call Maxwell.
The phone rang for a long time before it was answered.
The phone was very noisy, with the sound of men and women laughing.
“Are you coming back for dinner today?”
“No, a friend suddenly invited me for dinner. You go ahead and eat, no need to wait for me,” he said before hanging up

the phone.
Camila heard Dimon’s voice amidst the noisy sounds.
With Dimon around, Svetla would definitely be there.
Camila didn’t want to mind, but she couldn’t help but overthink.
In the middle of the night, Maxwell came back drunk.
This was the first time Camila had ever seen Maxwell drunk after such a long time.
She hated taking care of alcoholics the most, and she also hated the smell on them the most.
She resisted the urge to vomit and helped Maxwell into the
room.
As soon as Maxwell lay down, he felt dizzy and his stomach churned, causing him to vomit on the bed.
Camila was very angry and wanted to throw him out.
But in the end, she softened her heart. Camila changed Maxwell into a new set of clothes and cleaned up the vomit.
It was already late at night after finishing tidying up.
That night, Camila slept on the sofa.
The next morning, Camila, who had not slept well all night, arrived at the company.
As soon as Mackenzie entered the office, she came to find
- me.
“Camila, didn’t we agree that I would be included in Startak Gaming project team? Why wasn’t I on the list you sent last night?”
“This project is quite complex. I specifically selected some experienced consultants for it. If you have any opinions, you can
go and talk to Zora,” Camila said.
“Don’t keep bringing up Zora all the time. I don’t even know what you mean. You’re just settling personal scores,” Mackenzie said angrily.
“I have a clear conscience, say whatever you want,” Camila didn’t want to argue with her, “If you’re not satisfied, you can talk to the leader.”
“Fine, I won’t go then. But why can Felicity go? She is not as experienced or knowledgeable as me in any aspect.” Mackenzie said.
“She and I were in the same group, and she also contributed to that tax–saving plan. Why can’t she go?” Camila retorted.
“You are biased. Who doesn’t know that she can’t do anything? She only got into the company through connections, she is just incompetent,” Mackenzie persisted.
“Did you come to the company through connections?” Camila retorted directly, “You know very well whose connections you relied on, so don’t talk about others here.”
Mackenzie was pale with anger. She hadn’t expected Camila to become so powerful now.
“Even if you don’t let me go, you still have to pay me the full amount of this month’s bonus, right?”
76.89%
“According to company regulations, if you have no
performance, you won’t receive any bonus. Don’t you know?”
“But I worked for at least a month. I clocked in every day, so why can’t they give me a bonus?”
Camila felt that she was being difficult and didn’t want to pay attention to her. Camila gave her an employee handbook and asked her to go back and read it carefully.
