Chapter 7 Have Pasta
As soon as Camila picked up the phone, Maxwell started firing questions. “Why didn’t you come home after work? Grandpa has been waiting to have dinner with you. He hasn’t eaten.”
Camila flinched.
She was overwhelmed and forgot that she was married.
“Sorry. I was held up. I’m coming home now.”
“I’ll pick you up.” Maxwell hung up without waiting for Camila’s answer.
Pick her up?
How did Maxwell know where she was?
But Maxwell didn’t pick up when Camila called him back.
Camila put Gemma to bed and sat by her bedside until the doctor kicked her out of the ward because the visiting hour was over.
It was past ten p.m. when she left the hospital.
Maxwell was waiting in front of Camila’s building. He looked at the light on the third floor and was certain that Camila was upstairs.
Soon, Maxwell saw the silhouettes of two people in the curtain. They were embracing each other tightly. The female had a similar figure to Camila’s.
Did Camila go on a date with another man on the second day of their marriage?
Did Camila think he was a fool?
Maxwell was enraged.
He pressed on the horn harshly. But the couple wasn’t affected at all. However, the neighbor cursed and shouted at Maxwell.
“Who horned at this hour? What’s wrong with you?”

Maxwell slammed his fist on the steering wheel. He felt disgusted.
When Camila returned to the Starling’s house, Maxwell wasn’t there.

Raven made a snide remark. “I never saw a bride who came home late on the next
day of her marriage. I pity Mr. Starling.”
“Where’s Maxwell?” Camila asked.
“I don’t know. Mr. Starling had been waiting to have dinner with you. Why didn’t you call if you were going to be home late?”
“I’ll remember that next time.” Camila felt sorry.
But Gideon had gone to bed. Camila couldn’t apologize and returned to her room.
As soon as she sat down, the door opened with a loud sound. Maxwell was back. He opened the door so hard that he nearly tore it off the hinges.
Camila stood up.
“You’re back.”
Maxwell paused when he saw Camila. “Where have you been?”
“My grandma is sick. I just got back from the hospital.”
“Your grandma is sick?” Maxwell scoffed, “Let me guess. She needs to have surgery and you need a lot of money.”
“What do you mean?” Camila noticed the scorn in Maxwell’s gaze. She said angrily, “Ask the hospital if you don’t believe me.”
Maxwell suppressed his anger and asked, “Camila, are you hiding something from
me?”
“What do you want to know?”
Maxwell collected himself and tried his best to calm down.
“Do you have a boyfriend?
“You’ve lived with him for three years. But you lied about being single to marry me. Camila, do you think I’m a fool?”

They didn’t switch on the light. In the dark room, Maxwell emitted a dangerous vibe as if he was the king of the dark night.
“Did you investigate me?” Camila couldn’t believe that Maxwell had done something like this.
“What’s wrong? If you had been honest with me, I wouldn’t have to do it.”
“Yes. I had a boyfriend.” Camila said furiously, “But I broke up with him before I married you.
“Your requirement never said anything about a past relationship. Why are you accusing me of it?”
Camila thought Maxwell had regretted giving her 80 thousand dollars. It explained why Maxwell had been picking on her.
“I didn’t say that you couldn’t have a past. But are you certain it’s past?”
“I haven’t contacted him since we broke up.”
“Are you sure?”
“Investigate me again if you don’t believe me.” Camila grew angrier. “To be honest, I married you for 80 thousand dollars. If you think your money is wasted, we can divorce tomorrow. But I can’t give you back the money immediately, for I used it to pay for my grandma’s surgery. Don’t worry. I’ll pay you back. Not a penny less.”
Camila blunted and stormed out with her suitcase.
Before she could reach the door, Maxwell snatched her suitcase away.
“I can’t handle the humiliation of divorcing so soon.” Maxwell had calmed down. He thought about the event tonight. If Camila was the woman in the house, she
wouldn’t be home earlier than him.
Maxwell thought he had wronged Camila.
Maxwell lifted the bed frame and stuffed Camila’s suitcase under the bed. He put down the bed plate and pressed it down hard.
Camila thought, “Is he worried that I’ll run off?”
Camila tried lifting the bed plate yesterday but failed.

“Cook something. I’m hungry.” Maxwell sat down on the couch and clicked on his laptop. It seemed that he planned to wait for Camila to cook for him.
But it was too late to do any shopping.
Camila wanted to reject him. But the second she opened her mouth, her stomach grumbled. Camila was hungry too.
She went to the kitchen and cooked two plates of tomato pasta.
When she brought the pasta out, Maxwell had fallen asleep on the couch.
Maxwell had a frown in his sleep. He looked exhausted.
His lips were pressed into a tight line. But one could still tell that he had a pair of kissable lips.
Camila thought, “He’s too pretty, though he’s a man.”
Camila tsked at Maxwell’s eyelashes as his eyelashes were long and curly. Camile couldn’t make her eyelashes look as good as his even if she used an eyelash curler.
She thought, “Is this what natural beauty is like? No makeup can win against it.”
Out of curiosity, Camila leaned in Maxwell to get a better look at his long eyelashes.
Suddenly, Maxwell opened his eyes.
“Are you done?”
Camila screamed and jumped. She slipped and fell on Maxwell’s lap.
A strange aroma filled Camila’s nostrils.
Camila panicked and got on her feet immediately. She bubbled, “The pasta. I cooked something.”
Maxwell looked at the flushed Camila and smiled unconsciously.
Camila thought Maxwell didn’t know how to smile.
Camila almost got lost in the dazzling smile.

Maxwell sat down across from Camila and looked at the pasta.
“Why don’t you start eating? Didn’t you say you were hungry?” Camila asked.

“I don’t like tomato sauce.” Although Maxwell claimed that he didn’t like it, he still picked up the fork and took a bite.
Then he started skimming off the tomato sauce on the surface.
Camila didn’t like picky eaters. She said grumpily, “Tomato is the king of vegetables and contains various vitamins. Having tomatoes is better than taking supplements.”
“I’d rather take supplements.” Maxwell was stubborn.
Maxwell ate the pasta gracefully. He made the simple move look like art.
Camila always thought her table manners were adequate. But Maxwell had shown her true elegance and nobleness.
For every bite, Maxwell raised his fork to the exact same height. Camila didn’t know how he managed that. Maybe as a programmer, Maxwell ate as rigorously as he designed programmers.
“Have you heard of Startak Gaming?” Camila thought because Maxwell was a programmer, he should know the famous Startak Gaming.
Maxwell clenched the fork in his hand. “What about it?”
