Chapter 16
Chapter 16 Run Into Her Ex
“I’m sure he wouldn’t lie to me,” Camila said.
Hearing her words, Maxwell and the woman were very surprised.
The woman was surprised that Maxwell’s wife wasn’t interested in his husband’s private money.
Maxwell was surprised that Camila actually believed him, which made him feel guilty.
The woman wanted to say something more but gave up. Pissing off Maxwell would
cause her trouble.
Before they got to the place, the woman got off the car. When they parted, she befriended Camila in Line and asked her to keep in touch.
As soon as the woman got off the car, Maxwell received a Line message. “Your wife is really beautiful but not so elegant. She’s not good enough for you.”
Maxwell deleted the message after reading it. Then he brought Camila to the supermarket.
Camila thought that Maxwell wanted to buy some clothes, but it turned out Maxwell wanted to buy clothes for her. He took Camila directly to the international brand counters, where a piece of clothing was worth thousands of dollars.
Camila freaked out and was about to leave grabbing Maxwell’s arm.
“Clothes there are so expensive. One is worth more than my one–month salary.”
Maxwell did not care. He thought it wouldn’t bother letting Camila try on some of the clothes. Finally, the sales assistant got a bit impatient.
“Are you buying one or not?”
Maxwell wanted to take it all, but he couldn’t expose his identity. He could only pick up a suit that he thought was most suitable for Camila.
“We’ll take this one.”

Camila checked the price tag. 3,000 dollars?
It required two months of her salary.

She pulled Maxwell aside. “I don’t bring my card with me today. Let’s go to lunch. I’m hungry.”
“We’ll go to lunch after buying this.” Maxwell took out his mobile phone and showed the payment code. “My card is attached to my phone account. You can use this code to pay.”
“It’s too expensive. It costs you more than half a month’s salary.”
“So I still have money left.” Maxwell acted as if money was not his concern.
“But this is the beginning of the month.” Camila felt crazy.
Maxwell’s monthly salary was 5,000 dollars. After he bought the suit for her and paid 1,500 dollars to Raven, the money left for this month’s other expenses would be only 500 dollars.
They would be starving before the month ended.
“Trust me. We won’t be starving.” As Maxwell insisted, Camila paid for the suit unwillingly.
Maxwell asked Camila to wear the suit now.
A suit worth 1,600 dollars was no normal clothes. The style and the texture matched Camila and made her way more beautiful.
Maxwell was satisfied.
Camila was thinking about the refund of the suit.
Maxwell seemed to see through Camila’s mind. He waved his hand and asked the shop assistant to cut the price tag.
Camila burst into anger.
Seeing Camila looked hurtful and angry, Maxwell hurriedly comforted her. “Women’s clothes are their men’s dignity. I can afford the suit.”
Camila was stunned.

She recalled Samson’s words.

“Whatever you wear won’t make a difference to your appearance. You might as well save your money and buy me some new gear.”
“What kind of clothes are worth 50 dollars? Camila, do you know how to be thrifty?”
“What about a meal worth 800 dollars? A man’s dignity matters.”
This kind of accusing went on and on.
“What are you thinking?” Maxwell waved his hand in front of Camila. “Still sad about spending a sum?”
Camila’s eyes turned red.
“Why are you crying?” Maxwell pinched Camila’s nose gently.
Camila got rid of his hand out of anger. “I’m not crying. I was hungry.”
“Then I’ll order takeout for you. Let’s go home and eat. There are too many people
here.”
Maxwell was afraid of meeting acquaintances, for the place was very close to his
company.
He asked Camila to wait for him at this counter and went to order takeout.
As soon as Maxwell left, the shop assistant came over and praised Camila. “I have never seen such a good husband. He doesn’t even blink when he spends money on
his wife”
Camila could only have a bitter smile in his heart. She looked at the expensive clothes in the fitting mirror and wondered what she was going to do this month.
All her savings were used to cover her grandmother’s operation. Now she couldn’t get any extra money out of her hand.
“Oh, look at that woman in the nice outfit.”
“The store sells extremely expensive clothes. Can you afford one?”
“It’s all your fault. You’ve spent all my savings, and we’ll starve to death this time.”

Camila didn’t intend to pay any attention, but the sound was too familiar to ignore.
Mackenzie walked into the store, pointed to Camila standing with her back, and
asked, “How much is that suit on her?”
“3,000 dollars.” The shop assistant answered.
“Isn’t there a discount?”
“The price with a discount is 3,000 dollars.”
“I told you very couldn’t afford it.” Samson wanted to pull Mackenzie out of the
store.
Mackenzie shook off Samson’s hand. “Don’t tell me what to do. Can’t I at least try
one?”
Mackenzie asked the shop assistant if she could try on one of these.
The shop assistant said that all the clothes there belonged to a limited edition. There was only one sample of each style even if it was sold out.
“Hasn’t she finished trying? I’d like to try on one, too.”
Mackenzie thought no one could afford such expensive clothes and that woman probably tried one on out of curiosity.
“I’m sorry, but that lady has paid for the suit. You can try on something else.”
“Paid for it?” Mackenzie couldn’t believe it. Rich people were indeed everywhere. Somehow, Camila’s back figure stroke her as an acquaintance.
Camila picked up a phone call. Maxwell asked her to meet him in the parking lot.
Camila was about to leave with the shopping bag.
“Camila!” Mackenzie suddenly called her name.
Samson thought Mackenzie mistook someone else for Camila. But when Camila turned around, he was stunned.
Was it the Camila he knew? He felt she was so beautiful and elegant.

Camila’s temperament and features were highlighted by the expensive clothes. She was no longer the pitiful girl who could only wear bargain goods.
“It’s really you.” Mackenzie also didn’t expect to see Camila here. “When did you become so rich? You made such a quick decision to buy a suit worth 3,000 dollars.”
“The lady’s husband bought it for her.” The shop assistant added in time.
“Are you married?” Samson was shocked.
“How can it be? Think about it. You’ve broken up for only a few days. How can she find another guy so quickly?” Mackenzie didn’t believe Camila was so welcome.
“Sorry to disappoint you. I got married the day after we broke up. My husband is also a programmer and treats me very well. As you can see, he bought clothes worth 3,000 dollars for me without a second thought.”
Mackenzie was possessed by anger and jealousy. She refused to believe Camila was so lucky.
Samson looked straight at Camila, who was so beautiful and confident now. He thought of the time when they first met.
Camila finally vented her anger after seeing their complicated expressions.
“My husband is waiting for me in the parking lot, so I’ll be excused.” Camila left proudly.
