Chapter 110
Chapter 110 Heart Attack
“What happened?”
“I wanted to tell you that you actually didn’t need to burden yourself at all. Gideon had done more than just this one bad thing back then,” said Svetla, as she took out an old
newspaper and handed it to Camila.
The newspaper headline read: Unscrupulous real estate developer cuts corners, causing an accident resulting in one death and three injuries.
Underneath the title is an enlarged picture, showing a worker lying on a scaffolding with a steel bar piercing through his heart.
Camila’s heart froze in an instant as she recognized the person in the picture to be her foster father, Jovany.
Although Camila had not spent much time with Jovany, as he had only picked her up shortly before the incident occurred, she couldn’t help but shed tears when she saw such a scene.
“My father said that the accident back then was likely man- made, intended to provide an excuse for the subsequent false bankruptcy. In fact, even before the accident, Gideon had already transferred most of the company’s assets.”
“Is what you said true?” Camila also became a bit uncertain, after all, one can never truly know someone’s intentions, especially considering that businessmen prioritize profit and are capable of doing anything for their own benefit.

“Why would I deceive you? Besides, this matter involves Maxwell’s grandfather, and I dare not speak recklessly,” Svetla took back the newspaper. “Don’t tell Maxwell that I told you this, and as for what to do next, you decide for yourself!”
On the weekend, Camila returned to Gemma’s house.
Gemma also heard about this matter, and she never expected that the unscrupulous property developer turned out to be Maxwell’s grandfather.
“Camila, what do you plan to do about this?” Gemma asked.
“I just wanted to seek justice for my father, and if it was really Gideon who did this, I will definitely investigate it thoroughly.”
“Then you and Maxwell…” Gemma was somewhat worried about how it would affect Camila and Maxwell’s relationship.
“I think if this matter were placed on him, he would definitely do it just like me.”

That night, Camila stayed at Gemma’s house.
Maxwell hasn’t spoken to Camila since the day she sued Gideon.
In the following days, Camila stayed at the hotel but never saw Maxwell again.
That day, Camila received a call from Gideon, asking her to
come home and talk.
Camila speculated that it was probably Jovany’s doing, but she also wanted to hear what Gideon had to say.
So Camila returned home.

I thought when she was not here, Maxwell would be lovey- dovey with Svetla. Unexpectedly, Maxwell was not at home at all, he had been on a business trip for almost a week.
As soon as they met, Gideon went straight to the point.
“Camila, you accused me, and I don’t blame you. But I don’t want you to be deceived or taken advantage of. So I want to talk to you about what happened back then.”
Camila listened quietly as Gideon spoke about the real estate project from the past, which Adam was in charge of. Before the incident happened, Adam had actually decided to immigrate. Adam had taken a 15% stake in Starling Realty, but still felt it was not enough and wanted Gideon to give him an additional 30%, which Gideon refused.
Svetla said that he suspected the accident was intentional on Adam’s part, with the aim of sabotaging Starling Realty so that Adam could take advantage and acquire it. However, Adam did not anticipate that Gideon would apply for the bankruptcy liquidation of Starling Realty.
“Is it true that Starling Realty is suspected of false bankruptcy, as mentioned online?” Camila asked.
Upon hearing this, Gideon began to cough violently, and then he foamed at the mouth and fainted.
Camila quickly dialed the emergency hotline.
Just as Svetla had returned from outside, Gideon had just been lifted onto the ambulance. Svetla immediately called Maxwell.
Camila took care of Gideon for the whole night, and Gideon

finally managed to escape the danger.
She had not closed her eyes all night and was dozing off when the door of the ward was forcefully pushed open.
Maxwell rushed in, covered in dust and dirt.
Gideon was still sleeping.
Camila looked up and said, “You’re back? Grandpa is fine.”
“Camila, come out,” Maxwell called Camila into the hallway.
“Camila, what do you want exactly? Where did Grandpa do wrong to you that you treat him like this? It’s not enough for you to sue him, you want to torment him to death, is that it?” Maxwell exploded in anger.
“I didn’t bother him, it was my grandfather who suddenly had a heart attack,” Camila explained.
“Are you still trying to argue? Svetla said that as soon as she came back, she heard you arguing with grandpa in the room, and then grandpa passed out.”
“My grandfather and I didn’t argue. He wanted to explain to me about the accident that happened years ago…”
“That’s enough, Camila. Svetla is right, all you care about is money. Leave, and we’ll arrange the divorce proceedings another day.”
Upon hearing about the divorce, Camila’s body trembled and it took her a while to squeeze out a word. “Okay.”
In the afternoon, Camila went to the Starling’s home to pack up her things and learned from the housekeeper that Gideon

had not yet woken up.
When she finished packing and was about to leave, Svetla returned from the hospital.
“This is ready to go, quite fast indeed,” Svetla mocked, “I’ve told you before, you and Maxwell are not on the same path at all, it would have been better for everyone if you had separated earlier.”
Upon hearing the words, Camila turned around and brought the suitcase back into the house.
Svetla was dumbfounded at first sight.
Svetla followed into the house and asked, “What do you mean? Why didn’t you leave?”
“I suddenly didn’t want to leave,” Camila felt that leaving so abruptly without any explanation was not what Svetla had in mind. If she were to leave, she wanted to wait for Gideon to wake up and explain everything clearly before going.
“Hey, how could you do this? Maxwell went to such lengths to say those words, and yet you stubbornly stayed here without leaving,” Svetla exclaimed with frustration. If she hadn’t wasted time earlier, Camila might have already left the Starling’s home by now.
“Maxwell didn’t divorce me for a day, so I am still the mistress of this house, and no one can drive me away.” Camila opened the door, “I want to rest, please leave.”
“How could you, how could you do this?” Svetla was kicked out by Camila.

Camila slept all afternoon.
She made an appointment with Felicity in the evening.
She felt that Gideon was right, she might have been taken advantage of. So she urgently needed to find out the truth, she couldn’t let others use her in vain…
Camila knew that Felicity knew more things and knew more people. She wanted Felicity to help investigate who the people were that spread false bankruptcy rumors about Starling Realty online recently.
Felicity knew many friends who worked in the media industry, so it was easy for her to investigate these matters.
Goodbye Felicity. Camila then found Nick’s rental house according to the addresses of other plaintiffs listed in the complaint.
It was less than 8 square meters in total, cramped with six people.
Nick was surprised to see Camila, and the two of them went
outside.
“Nick, I want to know who exactly sued under my name?” Camila was a little angry.
“Sorry, I was also forced and had no choice. You saw the situation at my home too. I had elderly and young dependents, I needed to survive.”
“Who instructed you to do this?”
