Chapter 6
A driver got out of the front of the black Rolls–Royce, and James threw the key of the Chevrolet Sail to that driver.
Looking at Harold, the assistant, on the side. James said coldly, “I asked you to find a car, and you actually found me at shabby one. You didn’t even clean the dust on it.”
Harold rubbed his head and said innocently, “Mr. Howe, didn’t you say the shabbier the car, the better? I went through a lot of trouble to find such a car that meets your requirements.”
“Clean up that shabby car. Don’t go to the car wash to clean it. Do it by yourself.” With that, James got into the Rolls–Royce.
Harold thought to himself, “What did I do wrong? Mr. Howe is bullying me!”
Just as James got into the car, he realized that Daisy was actually in the car.
He looked at his grandmother in surprise and asked, “Grandma, what are you doing here?”
“How is it going? Did you get your marriage license?” Daisy looked at James and asked eagerly.
Nadia was the candidate for her grandson’s wife whom she had been struggling to determine in the past few months. No matter whether it was Nadia’s character, how she treated others, or how she dealt with things, she was excellent. Daisy could not let her grandson mess things up during this critical moment.
In order for her grandson to marry Nadia, she disguised herself as a very poor old lady for several months.
James took out the marriage license from his pocket and handed it to his grandmother, saying helplessly, “As you have wished. She is now your legitimate granddaughter–in–law.”
Daisy was as happy as a child. She took the marriage license handed by James and smiled from ear to ear.
“Grandma, don’t be too happy now. I only promise you to marry her. If she couldn’t get past my test and I found that her character is not up to the standard, the result will be the same.”
This was what he and his grandmother agreed on.
James was the heir of the wealthy and powerful Howe Group, as well as the founder of International Trade Real Estate. But he was still pretending to be poor just to test his future wife.
“You bastard, do you think I will harm you?”
After Daisy cursed her grandson, she said in a low voice, “You’d better not fall too much in love with Nadia. I’m waiting to see the moment when you regret what you have done now.
“Brat, don’t bully Nadia. I’m not going back to the courtyard house. I’m going to your new house. Where is my granddaughter–in–law?”
Daisy knew James very well. If she did not go to James‘ new house to supervise, let alone for after half a year from now, he and Nadia might still sleep in separate rooms even after a year from now on.
There was no way she would let them sleep in separate rooms.
She knew that the new house her grandson bought was a two–room house, and she decided to occupy one of the rooms. That way, they would not have the chance to sleep separately.
“She’s left to move in. Grandma, can you give us some space?” James said helplessly.
“Now that you have a wife, you want to forget about your grandma, is it? I don’t care. Get out of the car. You’re going to take the car behind. I’m going to find Nadia.
Daisy said as she pushed her grandson out of the car.
James had no choice but to get out of the car.
Watching her grandson get out of the car, Daisy picked up her cell phone to make a call to Nadia.
Nadia was still in the cab. Suddenly she got a call from Daisy.
“Nadia, where are you now? I’m really sorry. My grandson is rather stubborn. He even let you move in alone,” Daisy said apologetically
“I’m in a cab now. Don’t blame him. I can do it by myself”
Nadia did not have many things to bring. She only had a few clothes, and one suitcase was enough to pack them.
“Nadia, don’t blame James. He’s too busy with his company that doesn’t have time to help you move.” Daisy was persistent in covering up for her grandson, fearing that Nadia might be angry.
Just then, a text message popped up on Nadia’s phone screen. She checked it and saw that her bank card had received 91100
dollars.

Immediately after that, she received another text message from James.
[The money for the engagement gift and a month of your living expenses is 91000 dollars. The 100 dollars is for you to call a cab to move your stuff]
“Nadia, are you still there?” Daisy inquired eagerly on the other end.
“Yes, Mrs. Howe. I’m still here. Don’t worry. I understand. Besides, he left me the fare for the moving.”
“Oh, that’s good. James isn’t good at expressing himself. Don’t worry. If he dares to bully you, do let me know and I’ll help you deal with him.”
It took several months of hard work for Daisy to get Nadia to be her granddaughter–in–law, and she absolutely could not let her grandson bully Nadia.
“Okay!”
Nadia suddenly felt that having an elder like Daisy in her in–laws family to help her was quite a relief.
But she did not have much hope that Daisy could always help her. After all, Daisy was James‘ biological grandmother, unlike Nadia to her sister, Elena, who was just an outsider in her in–laws‘ family.
After hanging up the phone, Nadia went back to her rental house. She packed up her things and cleaned the house up.
The rent for the house was relatively cheap, and the only thing the landlord required was that Nadia had to pay a year’s rent at once. Nadia had been living there for two years, and the 2,400 dollars only had been paid not long ago. The landlord didn’t give her a hard time and said the 3,000 dollars would be refunded as soon as she sublet the house.
Nadia dragged a suitcase to the address James sent her.
She knew about the Orchid Valley community. It was a new community. It was an upscale community in Kingsley, with apartments, villas, and all kinds of amenities.
This community was not only a school district housing but also near to the hospital. There was also a leisure area next to it, with a beautiful environment. It was a very good and high–end community.
A swipe card was needed not only when one entered the community, but also when one entered the elevator. Without a swipe card, one couldn’t even go upstairs.
As soon as Nadia opened the door, she saw the living room. The living room was very luxuriously decorated.
The sofa was made of genuine leather, and it looked like it cost several thousand dollars.
There was a super large balcony outside. Nadia took a look around the balcony and returned to the living room. The house had two bedrooms and one living room. The master bedroom was extremely large while the secondary bedroom was a slightly smaller.
She turned around and realized that the house was half–furnished, with only wardrobes, beds, and sofas decorated the living
space.
There wasn’t even a pot in the kitchen, let alone any necessities.
No wonder James asked her to check and buy whatever she needed in the house. At first glance, it was clear that James hardly lived in this house.
Walking out of the kitchen, Nadia pulled her suitcase into the secondary bedroom. Each room had a bathroom. She took both her toothpaste and toothbrush out and placed them on the washbasin in the bathroom.
But when she saw her toothbrush, she stopped the movement in her hand. Her tattered toothbrush was out of place with the brand–new washbasin.
Her towel was also a bit yellowish and had a few thumb–sized holes torn in the center.
No, her towel did not match such a luxurious bathroom at all.
She had to throw her towel and toothbrush into the trash can next to her.
In the end, she could only take out all her clothes and put them in the closet.
After that, she took out her cell phone and called James to ask if he was free tonight. If he was free, they could go shopping for necessities together.
When James saw that it was an unfamiliar phone number, he hung up directly.
He was in a meeting, and he usually did not answer calls from strangers.
Nadia made calls to James a few more times, which annoyed him so much that he put her phone number on his blacklist. Nadia didn’t give up and she continued to call him. In the end, she heard a voice coming from the other end of the line. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable…”
Seeing that the phone could not be reached, Nadia remembered WhatsApp. Remembering that she had added James‘

WhatsApp before, she asked him on WhatsApp, “Are you free tonight? Let’s go shopping for some necessities together!”
But after waiting for a long time, Nadia did not get James‘ reply, so she just went to the hospital directly.
Just after walking out of the hospital’s elevator, Nadia heard her sister and brother–in–law’s voices in the hospital’s corridor. “What time is it? It’s so late but you still don’t go back to cook for me. Do you want to starve me to death?”
Nadia’s brother–in–law, Nathan Leach’s voice was loud and could be heard by everyone on that floor.
