Finding Rose

Chapter Mission

Sam followed Rosalie down the narrow twisting hallways back to their room.

"Okay, I give. You wanna tell me what's going on?" Sam asked nervously.

Rose turned around and sat down in front of the bed.

"Henry found my dad." She perked up.

"What! That's awesome Rose!" Sam quickly ran over to her and gave her a bear hug.

"So while you were gone Jesse and I had breakfast then headed to the office." She looked out the window. "Locklin was there talking with your dad." She said.

"That sounds pretty normal, he is alpha, and dad was previo- "He cut himself short. "Dad has high ranking here and is his mentor."

"Well when we went in there, he seemed pretty pissed." She told him.

"Hmm, did you hear what they were talking about?" He asked intrigued.

"No, Jesse was in my ear the whole time, so I didn't pick it up." She said.

"Ahahah ya that doesn't surprise me. I think he has a little sweet spot for you." He chuckled.

Rose nudged Sam away. "Shut up." She chuckled.

"I wouldn't worry about it." Sam reassured. "He's probably all worked up that I dropped in like this." He chuckled. "So tell me what you found." He plopped himself on the floor.

"Well, your dad showed me a newsletter of a council meeting that took place in 2003. There was a photo at the bottom of the attendees and my dad was there."

"That's great Rose!"He said.

She was looking out the window and went quite.

"Rose?" He asked concerned. He could hear her sobbing. He made his way over to her by the window and wrapped his arm around her. She looked at him.

"It's been so long, I almost forgot what he looked liked." She rested her head on his shoulder.

He didn't say anything and just leaned into her. The sun was setting in the distance, and the two watched in silence as it made it's decent. What was left on the horizon was a pink hue, and she could see a flock of geese making their way south. She straightened up and looked at Sam. He looked at her.

"You want to tell me why you turned down alpha?"

He quickly turned back to the window. "I'm gonna kill her." He was referring to Mandy of course.

"Y....you don't have to tell me if you don't want too." She said. She saw that he was upset but once he looked at her he quickly composed himself.

"Noo..he sighed. I guess it's time that I tell you. After all, I know everything about you." He smiled.

He placed his back against the wall and rubbed his eyes before he spoke.

"I'm not sure what Mandy told you, but I need you to understand my point of view." He looked at her and she laid on all fours. "As you know our dad was the previous alpha of this pack, which essentially means that I was next in line to take over. I spent many days in that office, going over our packs foundation, history, and analyzed everything he set in front of me. But one day, I came across a journal, of how our pack was founded."

He paused.

"It was founded in blood." He readjusted his position. "This pack is the result of a war that happened by the hands of my great great great grandfather. He went mad and would stop at nothing to claim what he thought was rightfully his, and if you showed resistance he would do anything and everything to show his power. Many shifters died and lost their loved ones. Even powerful bloodlines became non existent thanks to him. I remember reading this and feeling absolutely disgusted that our packs ideology was built on the graves of people who fought for what was right. I couldn't comprehend, if I was ever put in a position like that. I wouldn't be able to send others to their death on my behalf. So I started to fight against my father's wishes. I acted up, and cared nothing for the alpha role. It got really bad between us the last few years, and that's when I decided I would live outside the pack house and live a more human lifestyle. That is until I saw you." He slowly looked up at her.

"I don't care to admit it, but I missed it here. Dad seems to have dimmed down the resentment a bit, but deep down I still feel his disappointment. It's been years since I've seen him dive down into his books, so I have you to thank for that." He smiled.

Rose studied his face. She could see happiness, and pain while he had a smile on his face. Even though he and his father didn't see eye to eye, he still loved him.

"You have no idea how special you are to me do you?" She said to him. She got up and placed her forhead to his.

He grinned. "I think I do." He said.

....................

It had been a few days since Henry found the article with information regarding Rose's pack. However in those few days, they hadn't been able to conjure up anything in relation to it. It was then decided by Henry that he would travel to the councils record office, and see if he could gather some more information about the two packs. He was confident, there was more to it, and figured he would be gone only a matter of days. He packed a small suitcase and set off in the morning with Jesse in tow. They made there way out to the car where Sam and Rose accompanied them. Henry turned to them before getting in the car.

"We'll call you if anything turns up. In the mean time, keep digging and don't get into any trouble." He looked at Sam specifically when he said it. Sam just nodded. Jesse gave a small salute before joining Henry and they took off shortly after.

Rosalie turned back to the house, as she could here the hustle and bustle of people running around.

"Whats going on?" She asked Sam.

"Ah yes, that makes sense as to why dad left." He chuckled. "What you are hearing Rose is the crazy phenomon called....procrastination ahah." He said.

"No really, what's going on in there? It seems to be everyone's out rushing and running around.? She pressed.

He ran his hand through his hair and rubbed the back of his head.

"It's the eclipse tonight, and here at the house is when everyone gets together for a celebration. What you are witnessing is last minute details. Probably at my mother's request ahah. Shes hardcore when it comes to that. It's funny, we've been here for almost 2 months now and you haven't really seen her yet." He pondered.

"Your dad said she's a busy body and is constantly doing something. Even he barely gets to see her." She said.

"I'm sure you'll see her at some point, she'll be running around barking orders as usual." He laughed. "Be prepared Rose, this thing can get pretty wild as it lasts a couple days." He looked towards the house again. Com'on, let's see if anyone needs help."

Rosalie found her self working with other shifters, setting up a bon fire in the middle of the field. She helped drag massive logs, and then placed them in a pile, while an army of others positioned them in a teepee like structure. The sheer scale of it was mesmerising to her, and she was getting excited for her first celebration. It looked like they were close to finishing so Rosalie made her way back to the house. As she approached the door, it quickly swung open almost hitting her in the face.

"Oh! sorry about that Rosalie, I didn't see you." Locklin said.

"No, it's ok don't worry about it." She replied nervously.

He held the door open for her and stood out of the way, to let her pass.

"Thank you." She said as she made her way in.

"No problem." He said with a smile.

She turned around to see him walk towards the bonfire. Usually he was always quick to leave or give her an awkward glare. Maybe he's coming around to her being there she thought to herself. She didn't really put to much thought into it and set about to find another task.

Night was approaching, when Sam finally found Rose, helping someone in the banquet hall. He watched her as she picked up a bucket of lights and walked it over to a small group that were adding the the final touches to the DJ stage.

"She's made herself useful today." Sam's mom approached from behind.

He just looked at her and smiled. She gave him a light pat on the back. "I like her!" She said gleaming.

Before Sam could say anything to her she spotted someone messing up her decor.

"No." She sighed and took off in that direction. "Not like that..how many times do I have to say it....."

He chuckled, which Rosalie picked up from the other end of the hall. She ran to him, and tackled him to the floor.

"Gah! my back." He said as he thrashed around the floor with her.

You could hear laughter resonating from others in the hall.

"Ahahaha ok I give! I give!" He sat up as she got off. "You seem in a good mood." He noticed.

"Well, wouldn't you be? By the looks of it this is gonna be a treat! Did you see the bon fire yet! It's huge!" She was talking a mile a minute, and Sam basked in her excitement.

"Well we better get ready then. There's gonna be other packs coming to join the festivities, and its starting in a few hours." He said.

Rosalie looked at her wolf form, as if she had anything to get ready for.

"Ready!" She said happily.

"Alright..here help me up will ya." He asked.

Rosalie walked to the back of him and started dragging him across the floor by the collar of his sweater.

"Rose!" He yelled. Laughter roared from the others, as they could see his legs slowly disappear around the corner of the doors.
